  • Great little critter pen!
Size: 46.65"L x 13.78"W x 23.62"H
We purchased this for a hedge hog, being cheaper than the other brand that’s one here by half we decided to give it a go! What we liked - easy to clean. The bottom is water proof. The critter pee doesn’t soak through or absorb into the material. Wipes clean fairly easy. - open top to easier handle the hedge hog with the spines, for my kids to handle and interact with the hedgie. Tall enough hedgie doesn’t and can’t escape - adequate and ample room for the hedge hogs space that’s also fairly affordable. - lines with fleece bedding great. We measured and sewn our own to fit. - easy to set up. My 8yr old son put this together. He just needed help understanding the tabs the bar goes through. See below for info on the instructions - it was an affordable purchase, my son purchased this with his Christmas money to replace a large clear plastic tote we had the hedge hog in before. - works out better than any other home we had for our hedgie - the hedge hog is ultimately happy. Happy critters happy owners! - fits water bottles just fine instead of water bowls. What we didn’t like - the corners: let me explain the bottom is totally flat, with instructions to fold them and Velcro them into a corner. 3 corners were fabulous the one corner not so much. I did reinforce the corners with safety pins near the top - Not a deal breaker especially for the price. The pin holes will not effect the water proof barrier for us as we use fleece for bedding and change every other day. - the panels over lap a bit after it’s all put up which doesn’t give it a strait line on the long side. Might just be my OCD. Again not a deal breaker. - the directions are not helpful if you aren’t mechanically inclined to figure out how it gets put together. The tabs all around the edges go over the last bar on the bottom and you slide the pins through to keep the bottom attached to the panels. It was easy for us to figure out rather quickly but we have a small army of animals here mending and building cages is 2nd nature. We didn’t use the instructions but some may have to. Things that weren’t in consideration for us that someone might be looking for info on: - This doesn’t come with a top, it doesn’t need a top for our needs as hedge hogs aren’t great climbers. That would be an additional cost if you needed that for your critter. The other brands top would fit though based on true measurements taken when it’s all put together. - It has access doors on each side. We didn’t need them. They secure well, but they are kinda small. They would work easily to combine 2 of these together for other critters who would need more room for multiple critters. - the corner stand that it comes with seems sturdy. The tabs to put it on are kinda wonky. We don’t use the corner stand shown in the picture for the intended purpose. I wasn’t even going to use it, until my kiddo suggested it be another hide out for the hedgie. He didn’t like it. We moved it up and use it to set his brush and dustpan on for cleaning the cage daily. - bedding.... I don’t know how this would hold bedding. I’m not a fan of bedding we use fleece so I don’t have that struggle of having a mess. I would purchase again for the price of it even with the faults. To be honest I should have seen them coming before purchasing. It’s a great home for our hedge hog and works out better than anything we have had. Which is tiring and exhausting to find a great cage or pen for critters that’s affordable. ... show more

  • Easy to use but the bottom could use a more resistant bottom.
Size: 46.65"L x 23.62"W x 13.78"H
My piggies scratched holes in the bottom of the cage, if you made the material twice as thick you would have a five-star product.

  • Good habitat if you make your own improvisions...
Size: 46.65"L x 23.62"W x 13.78"H
I was honestly hesitant about buying these cages but I needed something quick but something that was at least the minimum size cage requirement for a piggy or a bonded pair as we rescued Daenerys and Nova last minute and apparently Fitz felt like breaking his cage so I figured why not try these? They're affordable and much like the Midwest habitat cage except I like them better than the Midwest (I had it and HATED IT. I originally ordered 3 or so I thought but I guess they only had 2 in stock so one was removed from the cart unfortunately. I wanted to connect 2 cages to make it bigger for the girls and then put the other one next to the girls so Fitz could see, hear and connect by touching noses and he does that now. He lost his cage mate about 6 months ago and it was time to get him some friends as he was getting depressed and is an old man (he's around 8 years old now) so we adopted these girls who were actually said to be boys *surprise* so he wouldn't be lonely. I haven't seen him so happy since Aryiah was his cagemate. He has been like a young piggy again, popcorning and wheeking like crazy. This cage did come with instructions but I saw YouTube had setup instructions and I'm a person who likes to see how to do something before I actually do it. It's super simple to put together but it isn't super sturdy. I improved the cages by using 8" zip ties to tighten everything and make it stay in place. You need two rods for each long side and one rod per short end. Super easy just annoying when looping the rods. I love that the cage is completely connected by metal pieces instead of having just crappy hinges like the Midwest habitat offers you. I hated that cage so much because of how flimsy it was and yet how expensive it is. I like how this cage mimics the Midwest but improved on the closure of the bars. I do love that it's black metal as well because the white that the Midwest has on their cage shows EVERY SPECK OF DIRT/POOP! I'll definitely be getting two more of these to make a square so the pigs have at least 2 habitats giving them more than just the minimum size requirement. I really like the corner hide plastic triangles though! I knew I wanted to put fleece over them and make them piggy hideouts and they came out how I imagined they would (for the most part). Dollar Tree has fleece and untreated wood boxes that you can stuff hay/treats in so I picked those up too. If you ever find willow wreaths at your Dollar Tree, stock up because those are great for bunbuns and piggies too (they'll be in the floral section). I can't wait to get a couple more of these cages when they're back in stock but I would recommend getting the topper or making one out of grids as my girl, Nova, taught herself to jump on her hidey house and popcorn off of it leaving her vulnerable to falling into Fitz's side or just flying onto the floor. Grids are pretty cheap or free if you already have them like I did. My final verdict: I definitely recommend getting this cage. ... show more
