This kettle works very well and is reasonable priced. I opted for the 1.0 liter size which is perfect for me, as I usually don't require more than 2 cups of boiling water at a time. It boiled 2 cups in just about 3 min. but at full capacity it would hold just over 4 cups. It's much faster than using a pot on a stovetop and definitely more convenient (and faster) than boiling water in the microwave oven. For anything larger than 4 cups (ex., 6 cups needed to cook pasta), it's easy to empty and quickly boil another 2 cups to add to the pot. The top opens wide enough to fill in my refrigerator door dispenser and the handle doesn't heat up so it's very easy to dispense. I opted for the glass pitcher as I like to see the water inside. There are times for certain teas when I might want to stop it early so glass is much more convenient for me vs. stainless steel. The pitcher automatically turns off when done boiling and also there is a very visible blue light that stays on only while heating. Another safety feature is the auto-off when empty. Within seconds of turning the pitcher on with no water inside, it automatically shut off. For those not familiar with electric kettles, even immediately after heating water to boiling temperature, the base isn't hot (or even warm). So there's no danger when using the pitcher of you, or a child, accidentally getting burned by touching the base. So far this has been a great purchase for a great price! ... show more

Our apartment complex recently demolished our kitchen countertops, dropped them, and installed fake granite . We lost quite a lot of space and functionality. As I'm the only one who drinks hot tea and french press coffee I decided to look for a smaller electric kettle to fit into a tight space. I landed on this one from Amazon basics. I love it. The water heats up fast and one kettle can fill a standard french press or small tea pot. I love the color, looking sharp and clean. The auto shut off let's you know the water is ready, and you can simply wait a few minutes for the water temp to be "off boil" for coffee. Sometimes simple works best and for the price point it's exceptional. I've knocked it into the faux countertop a few times and it's so durable nothing cracked or chipped. I am very happy with purchase. Water heats up very fast. I only filled container for 1 cup and it heated up in less than 30 seconds. Once container is filled with water simply press down the lever and heating begins. The glass container shows you when it is heating up. I got used to having a hot water kettle for making tea during my extended travel in Asia. I had to get an electric kettle like I had at the Asian hotels I stayed at. I got this one on Amazon because the design caught my eye. I like the glass with metal accents and the larger capacity (but still small enough to stay on countertop). It does heat up pretty fast for making tea, coffee, hot chocolate or what have you. I love watching the blue light come on and the bubbles forming quickly when the water comes to a rapid boil. For a 1 liter boiler, this is all you need. At my altitude (5000 feet), water boils around 202 degrees F, the optimal temperature for brewing coffee. The auto shutoff remains reliable even at this temperature, which can't be said for all automatic kettles out there. Appears well built of quality materials. The lid hinge is fairly stout so even though it's plastic, with reasonable care it should be durable. A major advantage for me is that the kettle/base take up minimal space on my countertop.
