I use this to heat up my cats, wet food that I keep in the fridge. The water does get really hot, so use it sparingly and be aware of that. However, I really like that it has the auto shut off once the water boils but I still suggest unplugging it once you are done. I also use this for tea or for my drip coffee. Ordered this while I was sick and drinking a bunch of tea. I've had it for a little while now and it works very well. The window to see how much is in it is handy for trying to remember if you refilled it last time or not. Only gripe I have is that it loses temp fairly quickly after shutting off, so if you get distracted you may have to reheat the water. Boiled the max amount of water in less then 4 minutes, quiet, no beeps or whistles. For use in an RV, the metal exterior is more durable than glass. Little window is great to make sure you have enough water. No lid to lose as it pops up. The black plastic on top keeps your finger from being singed if you need to close the lid while hot (and the kettle does heat up!). I have a really nice, elegant, stove top, whistling tea kettle. Looks fabulous BUT functionality??? It's so hot you can't pick it up after it whistles without a pot holder. Also you can't see how far along you are with getting your water to boil. This glass kettle lets you see everything...which I love....AND shuts off automatically!! Not only that but the handle lets you pick it up off the coil IMMEDIATELY. without a pot holder. It's absolutely THE BEST and waaaaaaaay cheaper then the elegant stove top tea kettle. With the cord connected to a base plate, the weight of full pot is easy to pour. The clear glass makes it easy to know when cleaning is needed. I use vinegar and water as a cleaner. Just heat once with mixture, empty that and rinse good and you're done!

Never used an electric kettle before, this was a great first one due to it's price. Considering that most other electric kettles are like 2 liters, I thought the size would be an issue, but I feel like the size is perfect for just making meals for myself.
