Colleen Hoover is right at the top of the list of my favorite authors. And out of every story written by Colleen, Maybe Someday is my absolute favorite. I anxiously wait for each story she is writing because I have complete faith in her creativity and writing ability. One week ago, like so many other of her loyal readers, I was astounded to learn that Colleen was publishing a surprise novella about her secondary characters from Maybe Someday, Warren and Bridgette! Readers like myself, who fell in love with Maybe Someday, can now comprehend what is behind all of the anger, hostility and combustible emotions at war between Warren Russell and Bridgette Cox. Written from Warren's point of view, this surprise novella is titled Maybe Not. Ridge, Sydney and Maggie all play a part in this story, but this time they slip into the role of secondary characters. Although this story is primarily about Warren and Bridgette, I found it interesting to experience Warren's personal feelings and inner dialogue while he considered what was going on between Ridge, Maggie and Sydney. I felt this was a positive addition to the reading experience for Maybe Someday. Because I enjoyed the humor of Maybe Someday, I was delighted to see it return in this novella! Warren, Ridge, Bridgette and Sydney continue to pull pranks on each other and some of them are quite brilliant! There were a couple of places in the dialogue where I could sense Colleen's personality come through in her writing, and I just loved it! Warren and Bridgette were so funny together! They were mean to each other, then they were sweet to each other. I thought Bridgette's personality was plausible for someone who had previously lacked love in her life. Her character growth seemed natural as she progressed from being angry, hard and controlling to a more trusting and loving individual. Warren was incredibly entertaining as he struggled to interpret Bridgette's words and actions! I loved that their anger and meanness towards each other served as foreplay! Altogether, I have nothing but words of praise for this novella! Warren and Bridgette's story was lighthearted, funny and sexy! Colleen Hoover has earned a solid 5-star rating for Maybe Not!

3.5 stars. Colleen Hoover is one of my favorite authors; as a matter of fact, when I received my first Kindle, Slammed was one of the first books that I read, and with that, I was forever under her spell. She has a true gift of bringing us characters that we can relate to, that are believable and lovable. After finishing Maybe Someday, other than Maggie, Warren was the other person that I wanted to know more about; he demonstrated such devotion and loving friendship, and along with that wicked sense of humor, he is the perfect package. This was a sweet little novella, that truly illustrates all those things that I love about Colleen's work, and her gift as a story teller. I think what kept me from moving from liking to truly loving this one, was my lack of connection with Bridgette. Yes, she is complex, beautiful, sassy and scarred; she is a survivor demonstrating strength yet vulnerability. With all these incredible characteristics, I thought that I would have just embraced her; but something missed the mark for me, and I'm not even sure what. My lack of connection with Bridgette did not diminish my enjoyment of the story, it just didn't envelop me as many of Colleen's other works have. I always think of authors culmination of work as I do the days of the week; each one is important and a progression in a week, and are important each on it's own, as we should embrace and enjoy each and every day. However, in the grand scheme, I love Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, but we need the other days to progress to get there, and of course wonderful things also happen on those other days of the week. Whereas the entire Slammed series is my wonderful weekend, Maybe Not is my hump day Wednesday ;) Thanks Colleen for sharing your gift with me and I look forward to many more.

I love Colleen Hoover, I've read and loved everything she has ever put out. I read Maybe Someday and thoroughly enjoyed it, so I was elated to find out about her secret novella continuing the story with Warren and Bridgette. I got to around 37 percent and I found I had to put the book down for a while because I was so fuming mad. After Warren and Bridgette were intimate, Warren goes into Bridgette's room because he is determined that she has an orgasm. When she tells him to go away, he refuses and again attempts to initiate intercourse. Bridgette blatantly refuses Warren's advances and smacks him. He then asks her if she has never reached a climax during sex, and she confirms his suspicions. After she tells him a firm no yet again, he tells her to be quiet and let him be in control. The two are intimate for the second time that night, and while Bridgette enjoyed the sex, I was absolutely appalled at what I was reading. Bridgette refused Warren's advances several times, even using physical violence to fend him off, yet he still thinks that it is his "duty" or his "right" or whatever he may have been thinking to give pleasure to Bridgette. I was equally as appalled that Colleen Hoover would write such subject matter. She has a large teenage/young adult female following, and while Maybe Someday and Maybe Not were not as sexually tame as her other novels, teenagers and young adults have still read both, and I believe that one specific scene sent a rather negative message to those readers: if someone wants to take away your control regarding sex, you should let them if it feels good. I know that Colleen Hoover did not mean for that scene to be interpreted as I have interpreted it, but I felt that scene was quite misplaced and that other young girls will not understand that what happened between those two characters was wrong. I enjoyed the rest of the novella, and will continue to read anything and everything Colleen Hoover puts out, but I felt the need to warn other readers that there is a scene that will make some uncomfortable and to express my displeasure with this certain novella.

Siiigh. I needed this book. For me, reading a book by Colleen Hoover is a bit… therapeutic, in a way. Her books take me out of any book funk I’m in and I always have the time of my life reading them, no matter how long or how short those books are. And the 129 pages of Maybe Not were pretty much absolute perfection. I haven’t laughed so hard because of a book as I have for Maybe Not in ages. I loved every page and every word of this book! Colleen Hoover never disappoints, and this surprise novella only cements her as my all-time favorite author. Okay, first off, can I just say how HAPPY I am that we didn’t have to wait for a whole three and a half months to get a new book from Colleen Hoover!? Maybe Not is a novella, but still. I’m just so happy and thankful to have something new from this amazeballs author. And what’s better than something new from Colleen Hoover? Something new ABOUT WARREN from Maybe Someday!!! Maybe Someday was easily one of my favorite reads of the year, and I absolutely loved Warren in it. But now, after reading his novella in his POV? I fell even more in love with him. I want him to be my best friend AND I want to steal him away from Bridgette. Colleen Hoover’s heroes will be the death of me, I swear. Maybe Not starts prior to the beginning of Maybe Someday, when Warren and Ridge get a new roommate who’s not exactly the nicest of people. Bridgette is mean and gives no f***s whatsoever, and Warren is reluctantly attracted and intrigued. "I look away from her. I hate that she’s hot. I hate that she’s a brunette, because I really like her long, light brown hair and the way it’s pulled back, all messy and s***. Dammit!" All Warren and Bridgette do is fight, prank, and insult each other, which makes for some lovely sexual tension. "She licks her bottom lip, and I have to grip the couch cushion to keep myself from attacking that mouth. Her eyes are focused intensely on mine, and we’re both breathing so heavily from our verbal attacks, I can taste her breath on my lips. “I hate you,” she says through clenched teeth. “I hated you first,” I hiss back." So yeah, their fights aren’t exactly the most mature of things, but I loved every single one of their interactions. Warren is already a funny guy (oh my god, I can’t believe I’m going to say this, but I think Warren might even be funnier than Daniel from Finding Cinderella…), but Bridgette and Warren are HILARIOUS together! I laughed so, so hard because of these two and how much they hate how much they want each other. Warren and Bridgette end up falling into bed with each other. Over and over and over again. And slowly, those sexual intimacies lead to other, deeper kinds of intimacies that Bridgette is very unwilling to give Warren. But Warren sees Bridgette for more than the bitchy front she puts up, and he breaks down those walls around her heart. "She’s so confusing. She’s so frustrating. She’s so d*** unpredictable. She’s nothing I’ve ever wanted in a girl. And absolutely everything I need." I loved this book. Colleen Hoover has a way of creating characters that latch right on to your heart. I smiled so much because of Warren and Bridgette – and also because we also get to see Ridge, Sydney, Maggie, and Brennan. So Colleen Hoover fans, Maybe Someday fans, you definitely do NOT want to miss this special novella. It’ll have you laughing until you cry, and smiling until you just can’t stop.

Dear Colleen Hoover, Have you been told that you are Queen today? Well if not, you should honestly just tell your entire family to refer to you as Queen Colleen from now on because you have once again left me, and many, MANY others, speechless. Not only did you surprise your crazy, obsessed-with-you readers with a surprise novella about *insert girlish squeal* Warren and Bridgette, but you managed to make me fall in love with your writing all over again. My heart can’t take all this love I have for you and your books Colleen, you gotta stop (totally kidding never stop writing… or else. ;) ) Anyways, enough crazy talk, here’s my review for Maybe Not. Hopefully anyone reading this can discern my actual review from my gushing fangirl moments -(they are totally one in the same with me). Maybe Not is the fantastic novella by Queen Colleen Hoover and it is a companion novella to Maybe Someday, which is also beyond amazing and I definitely demand recommend that everyone read it. Maybe Not centers around character’s Warren and Bridgette, who are supporting characters in Maybe Someday, and holy hell was their story a hilarious and incredible journey. First, let me start off by saying I love these characters. LOVE. You know it’s serious when I italicize and capitalize. I loved Warren so much in Maybe Someday but it wasn’t until Maybe Not that I completely fell in love with him and claimed him as perfect for me. *hides from Bridgette* Totally kidding, I have too much of a girl crush on Bridgette to do that to her, and not only did I have a woman crush on Bridgette’s character, but I related to her so freaking well. Not in the sense that my life is anything like how Bridgette’s is/was, but her personality is so similar to mine I almost had a heart-attack thinking Colleen wrote a character based on me – 99.9% sure that was not the case but I leave room for hope. I also LOVED how this novel had me literally laughing out loud. Then again, this is the Queen who created Daniel Wesley in Finding Cinderella so I shouldn’t have expected anything else but humor that was right up my alley. In Maybe Someday it’s made obvious that Warren is a charismatic, quirky, and fun person, so getting inside his head was just an all around hilarious experience. The writing in Maybe Not is well…HELLO IT’S COLLEEN HOOVER. That basically means its nothing short of amazing! So amazing that when I reached the 80% mark, which is actually the ending (!) I almost cried because I thought there was more but it was over and I was so sad and I need more, Colleen! Maybe Not was also incredibly sexy. The chemistry between Warren and Bridgette was just, wow – explosive, sizzling, wild, too much to handle. You could sense they had great chemistry in and outside of the bedroom and that made me love their relationship even more.When Warren and Bridgette are together it’s an incredible match in my opinion, because they are so different. ;) Queen Colleen has done it again. She has managed to make me fall utterly and completely in love with her writing and another set of characters. She has done it again people! She will probably continue to “do it again” so if you haven’t read anything by Queen Colleen, please, please do so. Her novels will take you on such incredible journey’s. They are truly unique, just like she is – I mean who else surprises her fans with a novella?! You truly rock Colleen and I butterflying live you.

In Maybe Not, we get Warren's point of view of everything that happens, and while I really enjoyed Warren in Maybe Someday, I found that I enjoyed him a little less when I was basically inside his head. I think he comes from a good place most of the time, but he also overstepped some boundaries that really ought not to be overstepped. Bridgette gained a lot of depth through his eyes, and that was a very nice change. Bridgette was depicted only as a 'bitch' in the prior book, however, she truly had many reasons for the way she was acting with her roommates! She has had a hard life, living in foster care, finding a lost sister who was still living with her mom, and thinking she had found two brothers before she moved in with Warren and Ridge. It was good to see where she was coming from, and why Warren thought she was much more than the tough and scratchy facade she put up to fool everybody else as to her inner hurt. Because she was pushing everyone away from her, including Warren, it was a big surprise to me when they hooked up! Even more so when she made sure Warren had his pleasure, then just left him there before she went back to her own room. Then, the thing I had trouble digesting happened, too... Because Warren followed her in order to make sure she got her pleasure too - whether she really wanted it or not. At first, she even slapped him, but he did not take no for an answer. And to me, no always, ever single time, means no! This is also where I think that Warren really did come from a good place, because he wanted to share the pleasure with her, but he did not really listen to her wants just then, and kind of continued until she 'gave in'. I don't think a girl should ever have to give in! The fact that Warren truly only wanted to give her something back made things better for Bridgette, though. She had never felt like she deserved any kind of pleasure, and she had never loved anyone, nor felt as if anybody loved her. As Maybe Not continued, Bridgette did change quite a bit when she was with Warren, even if she continued to be her prickly self when she was with other people. More gritty than other CoHo stories, I ended up enjoying this story, but I did feel like I had to take a star off because of Warren's actions. Written in first person POV from Warren's perspective, the present tense also helped me understand from the get-go that things might work out better than it seemed that they would at the beginning of the story.

I loved the first book and I'll say the same about the second. It's such a good read. I would absolutely read it over and over. This trio has to be my favorite by Colleen Hoover. 10/10 recommend !!

A brief synopsis: Warren is thrown off when he is told he will now be rooming with a woman named Bridgette. He doesn't pay rent so he can't really say no but Bridgette is extremely rude and disrespectful. Looking past her prickly exterior, Warren begins to realize there may be more chemistry between the two than he initially thought My review: A super short, but super cute novella. It has its spicy moment so this is my forewarning about that. The characters are likable and I am happy that Hoover wrote a spin-off about the two, even though it was shorter. Warren and Bridgette's story is a really light hearted and quick read and I recommend it to anyone that likes a little enemies to lovers romance
