Has worked well for a while since I broke a key in my last lock. This lock is used daily about 10 times and has not yet shown any issues after 3 months. Was a little confusing setting it up. The lock got into a state where I could only lock it one way and the key would get stuck after opening but I reversed whatever I did and it worked like a dream.     • Good looking, easy to install deadbolt
We were changing out our doorknobs and deadbolts to accommodate a renovated kitchen and we came across these. I was a bit skeptical, given the low price, that the color would work and that they would prove sturdy. These fears were not well-founded. I ordered 3 of them and each was very easy to install--taking me about 15 minutes per door to change out 4 hinges, a deadbolt, and a door knob (all purchased from this same Amazon series). Moreover, I was impressed with the look and the feel of the deadbolts. The mechanisms moved smoothly and the finish did not seem prone to wearing away or chipping off. The one thing I'll add--simply because it's not a major concern nor something I know all that much about--is that I don't have a real basis by which to judge how secure these are. I've read on related reviews that the locks used here are very simple. If security is your primary concern (which is not unreasonable for a deadbolt...), you might want to do some further research and potentially look elsewhere. If, like me, you're trying to match other features of your home with a secure-feeling lock that's easy to install, look no further. This was a great purchase. ... show more

The lock itself is good. Simple, well-made construction. The instructions are poor. The portion about the 2 1/8 inch collar gives no indication as to how to remove the collar. Similarly, there is no indication about how to separate the interior lock ring from the exterior trim and handle. (There is a one mil Allen key that only fits the set screw to remove the thumb screw required to separate the Loring from the exterior trim] Got the lock installed. Working fine.     • hard for me to put in

have an 2086 5th wheel. i got it for the doors. it was work getting it to fit. however to day the slider part quit working as well and there was a lot of play in it. i couldnt get out the door. lucky i have another door. i got the key to work a bit and finally got the lock to work enough to unlock it. i cant lock it back for fear of not being able to open the door. "revision" vvvvv i took it out today and it looks fine. i guess the old 5th wheel shifted and the door dont quit match up as well as when i installed the lock. my 5th wheel has a metal door with wood filler, and i had to grind that out to fit it in the 1st.place. now it looks like i will have to grind some of the metal of the frame where the lock slides in. oh well~ just another day in the life.. two days later jacked up the trailer, the door shifted, and it works fine.. ... show more

Worked as well as I expected. Installation was easy and the quality seems on par with other major brands. Hefty lock. While it’s nice that the screws are covered on the inside, the hex screw that holds the cover plate on feels like the weakest link of the lock. It’s all on the inside, so not a safety/security issue, but could be an aesthetics problem down the road. Mine is used to secure a closet at a rental property, so I’m not worried about the knob-side. ... show more

    • Meh. Pay extra if you want a long-term locking solution
First off, these can be re-keyed by a professional or if you know how and have a Kwikset re-pinning set. But should you buy it? You can, as long as you understand it is of lesser quality than a brand name lock and it's not going to have the longevity of a better built deadbolt. It is made with inferior metals and the internal mechanisms are... clunky. They are not smooth, they get stuck, they just feel inferior. Will they work for your solution? Probably. But depending on how secure you want to feel you'd be better of spending the extra $10 and getting something from Kwikset or Schlage. Those are going to last - this is going to cost you more in the long run because it's going to fail much sooner than brand name locks will and you'll have to buy something else to replace it. The ROI (Return On Investment) will put you in the negative over the long term, and that is something you will want to consider. BUT, if all you have right now is $26-and-some-change, then it will work... for now. ... show more

Overall has a nice heavy duty feel including the latch bolt construction. The outside collar fits into the door hole with a lip so it self aligns and it makes it more sturdy.. Very good deal for the money. Now this Amazon Basics single dead bolt is better quality then the double lockset of Amazon Basics for 2 doors. That one, the outside collar is flat, does not inset into the door hole, and the latch bolt is thinner metal, the part the sits inside the door hole.
