  • good, sturdy and nice-looking stools
Color: Walnut Size: 24" Counter Stool
I only ordered one set (2 stools) the first time, but after we put them together, I liked them so much I decided to order another set. And then another. Not too difficult to assemble (I am a 73 year old grandma and my granddaughter is 15). A little hard for me to tighten the screws all the way but we did. We had to add glue to the little wooden plugs that fit over the screw holes because some would fall out when we turned the stools upright. But I think the little bit of glue solved that problem. However one of the seats on this 3rd set is starting to split. Not very noticeable, but you could feel it (uneven) on the top and bottom and it is half way through the seat (about 8 inches). I didn't notice the crack when we unpacked or while we were putting them together since the seat is face down while you assemble it. Only when I turned them upright did I see and feel it. (I could get my fingernail in it a bit.) I tried to push a little bit of glue into the crack to keep it from cracking more. But I didn't want to force it open. So I'm not sure if the glue actually got in or will do any good. Also this last set also came with a second of screws, plugs, and dowels. But no instructions. But since I had just recently put 4 together I didn't need the instructions again. However, I imagine someone received a package with no assembly pieces and 2 sets of instructions. I thought I would have a few extra assembly pieces to keep on hand, but the second set of plugs is white rather than dark walnut. Overall I am very pleased with them and now have 6 nice stools for about the cost of 2 fancy ones. And they fit under the counter and out of the way, unlike my swivel stools with backs which were always in the way and were breaking down. ... show more

  • Received 3 damaged sets in a row
Color: White Size: 24" Counter Stool
I ordered these and they came in damaged. I exchanged them, and they came in damaged. I exchanged them again, and they came in REALLY damaged. I can't speak to ease of assembly, nor comfort, because mine never made if completely out of the box.

  • I didn’t pay for a second hand product!!!
Color: Walnut Size: 29" Barstool
I’m not someone who takes the time to write reviews but I’m pretty disappointed. This product was used and the box had been opened and repackaged. We were unable to assemble because it didn’t include tools and screws. All that came in the box was the wooden benches and legs that included scratches and marks on them. The instructions had been used, rolled up and torn in some areas. Now I need to repackage and find the time to take the package to a UPS store. ... show more

  • No extra screws.
Color: Walnut Size: 29" Barstool
The wooden parts of these stools are quite sturdy feeling and well manufactured. Unfortunately, the fasteners appear to be proprietary, very weak and no extras are included. The screw holes are also very tight. The consequence here is that I snapped one of the screws while screwing it in. Unlike other retailers on Amazon who do include a few extras for this very eventuality, Amazon does not. So one of the cross bars, where inevitable someone will step in the future, is not secured on one side and will break. Amazon's policies for this item mean that I have to return these sizeable and heavy stools because they are unable to send me a package of the screws. Or even one screw. Hell, I would accept a link to the screws on Amazon and buy them for myself. All I want is the screw. This, of course, is the big drawback of buying online. Amazon may say that you suffer no consequences, but this issue makes it clear that is not the case. I have used other Amazon Basics products with no issues before, but this is too problematic of a drawback for me with respect to furniture. I would recommend you go elsewhere, you will find similar prices and also, very likely, a few extra screws. ... show more

  • You get what you pay for
Color: Walnut Size: 24" Counter Stool
Given the price, these barstools are satisfactory. The good: All holes aligned and were drilled correctly, so overall assembly went well. I assembled four in less than an hour, at a leisurely pace. The finish is also good, with the visible variations appearing more like normal wear than manufacturing defects. The fair: they arrive with adhesive felt pads to protect floors--necessary since the feet are rough--but no real solution for carpeted floors. Felt might keep carpet from picking, but it doesn't slide well at all. I'll be adding more appropriate feet. The bad: These stools come with a metal foot plate partially wrapped around one of the lower rungs. All of the ones I received had significant corrosion and damage to the metal's finish. They all looked old--though the rest of the stool did not. These stools may be cheap, but those metal plates are still embarrassingly poorly done. A couple had adhesive extruded from underneath, so I had to carefully peel it away. The confusing: These items shipped with wooden dowel/pegs and instructions on their use during assembly... but they couldn't be used because the necessary holes were not drilled. While there was a hole in a rung for a dowel, there was not a corresponding hole in a leg. The item did not ship with any glue, which is often included with that type of peg. The glue would've been useful for the small wooden plugs meant to cover the screw holes, as those things don't stay put on their own. I used my own glue and a cloth-covered hammer to gently tap in the covers so they would stay put. Comfort: They're not a church pew, but they're also not that much better. They'll do fine for a breakfast bar, but I wouldn't plan on hanging out on them for extended periods of time. ... show more
