  • Low watt, low intensity heat
Color: Black
I'm using this to keep a mini-greenhouse warm on cold nights. I bought 2 actually, as I added a second mini-greenhouse recently. I bought one heater to go in the new mini-greenhouse, then bought a second heater for the old mini-greenhouse after testing the first heater. These greenhouses are basically small 4 tiered wire shelves with a plastic cover. I was using a larger heater, which I had on hand, to heat the old mini-greenhouse. With the heater on the bottom shelf, I was unable to make use of the shelf above the heater, as my seed trays would deform from the heat. With this new, smaller heater, I don't have that problem. It heats the small space without difficulty, but at a low intensity, so I don't have to worry about my seed trays deforming. I removed/bypassed the safety switch because I have the heater sitting on a wire shelf rather than a solid surface. This is not the most powerful heater, but it's a very good heater, depending on your needs. The internals, besides the safety switch which I removed, are a typical plastic PC fan, the heating element, and the rocker-switch used for on-off. Very simple device, few failure points. Come to think of it, I didn't see any power adapter inside, but there must be one, since PC fans run on 12vdc. I googled it and apparently 120vac PC fans do exist, so maybe it's one of those instead. I'd open the heater again to double-check for a power adapter or maybe some hidden board with a voltage divider, but I'd have to undo all of my wire management inside one of the greenhouses, which I don't want to do. Anyway, I think the heating coil and fan both run off straight 120vac, without the need for any adapter. ... show more

  • Great little heater.
Color: Black
What a great little heater. It's small but mighty. Nothing bad about this purchase. The overall size of this is about the size of a hand. The width I wondered how everything fit in the housing. This is very sturdy. It will not run if it is kicked over. Or it will not run if you pick it up to look at it. The housing does get warm. If you have sensitive skin be careful. I turned this on in the small bathroom, approximately 8"x5", during the deep freeze, this didn't take long to heat up the bathroom. I turned it off and unplugged it. The bathroom stayed nice the whole time. The noise level isnt to bad. I have heard worse. This is a great purchase. I would buy this again. I would even buy this as a gift for a college student or newlyweds. ... show more

  • Easy to use space heater that actually works!
Color: White
I have been using the Amazon Basics Ceramic Space Heater, a mini heater designed for office desks, for about a week now. It keeps my feet warm under my desk, which I really appreciate. I enjoy the simplicity of the unit; there are no temperature knobs to adjust—it's just on or off. Additionally, it has a built-in trip sensor as a safety feature, so I don't have to worry about it being knocked over and starting a fire. I would recommend this ceramic space heater. ... show more

  • Good, safe little heater for small spaces
Color: White
I bought this to take the winter chill off a small bathroom area when showering. The room is about 60 square feet. This heater is about perfect for a small space like that. It never gets really hot and for that reason it seems very safe, I don’t see it being much of a fire or burn hazard since it doesn’t run red hot (it also has a safety button on the bottom so that if it does tip over it shuts off). But it’s probably best suited for very small areas given its lower heat level. Another benefit is I assume it’s pretty inexpensive to operate since it doesn’t run terribly hot. And its small size makes it easy to store. Overall it was just right for my small bathroom. ... show more

  • Cute, effective, often on discount
Color: Black
TL/DR: Quick heating, quick to cool down, has a minimal footprint, and at 500 watts it hasn’t blown my fusebox yet like my oil filled radiator heater is wont to do. It’s obviously underpowered for bigger rooms and/or distances, so it’s on you to know what you are really looking for in a space heater. ---- I picked up this little dynamo on Prime Big Deals Day or whatever-it-was-called, in October 2023. If you don’t need it right this second, you can probably get it delivered for less than an Andrew Jackson. I think that after you count out purchasers who are using this heater for their personal workplace space, the next biggest category of buyers might turn out to be those who want to take a bit of the winter chill off of popping into the shower. Why? Maybe, for example, they live with a family member who tends to run about 20 degrees warmer than themselves, the sort of individual who goes sleeveless in winter, on a snow day, and they accommodate that co-habitant’s needs by keeping the thermostat low and wearing sweaters. But for a few activities, showering being among these, they prefer a bit more warmth in the room. Who knows? I’m just speculating. If that’s your idea for this heater, however, you should be aware that the instructions in the box caution against using the heater in a bathroom, or any room where there is running water, or where water might run from one place to another, or maybe in the same general place. A laundry room, for example. In this litigious society, I’m not about to suggest that this prohibition is overly broad or more about protecting the vendor/manufacturer than about preservation of common-sense product utility. That would be an unwise speculation on my part. I will say that a hypothetical user of this space heater, employing a modicum of common sense, keeping the bathroom sink securely off and towels away from this unit, might well enjoy a higher degree of personal safety than another, again hypothetical, office worker with a messy desk full of papers and an overflowing trash can. If this second hypothetic user, additionally, has a Big Gulp ™ with a loose lid on the desk near the heater, I’d say that the situation would be even more dire! 4.5 stars. 3 stars for heat output in absolute terms, not that you necessarily need a blast furnace for every use case. 1 star for temperature control. The on/off button is the temperature control. Four stars for safety, not that Amazon asked me to rate that one. I don't consider any space heater particularly "safe" but ceramic is certainly relatively safe and the little prongy thing on the bottom that turns the unit off if it doesn't touch an unyielding surface is a very good idea, one that will hopefully keep folks from trying to run it sitting on a nice combustible quilt, or something. I call mine “Peanut Hamper”. Viva La Cerritos!* *If you know, you know. ... show more
