Bought this unit for $214 about three weeks ago and it has worked great every single day. This EVSE is especially good for my Chevy Volt or any other car with sismilar charging capabilities. The unit is capable of delivering the max charge my on board charger will accept. AKA buying a larger, higher powered, fancier charger that is more expensive wouldn't charge my car any faster. Conclusion: If this gets your car to the max acceptable charge rate that your car will accept it is unbeatable, in my opinion, for the price. If your car can Handel a faster charge and you want to charge faster than about 11 miles an hour you might want something else. But you will pay more for that. In many cases your cost will be double. Update: It is now January 2022, so I have had this charger for 4+ years now. It has had no issues whatsoever throughout that time. It has never kicked a breaker, it has never thrown a fault, and it has never failed to charge my vehicle. About eight months ago I upgraded from a 2012 Chevrolet Volt to a 2018 Chevrolet Bolt. While the Bolt does have a higher charging capacity than this charger can put out, I have found this charger to be adequate 99% of the time. This charger can not charge the Bolt from 0% - 100% in 10 hours, but I almost never get it close to 0%, and then need 100% the next day. This has only been an issue three time over a four day work conference that was further than my typical work, and the site did not offer chargers. In this case I was forced to find a DC charger on my way home to bridge the gap. Maybe eventually I will want to upgrade to a faster charger, but just know that this can still power larger EV's at an unbeatable price. ... show more

Driving a Gen I Chevy Volt, there really is not a pressing need for super fast charging---the generator will always be there for those longer drives that happen after the battery is depleted. However, most PHEV drivers will admit that they hate using gas and always look to the battery for miles. I am like everyone else, I love running on the battery, regardless of the generator being very convenient. Of course, the Volt has a slow charging speed even at 240 Volts, but that is still close to 3X's the speed of the 110 volt household charger. I decided to get this unit after seeing commercials for it on YouTube and then reviews on Amazon. This Christmas, under the tree, was an Amazon box with the Amazing-E EVSE inside. Once I had my brother come over and install an outdoor 240 Volt outlet, I plugged this little baby in and VOILA! it absolutely charges much faster than 110 Volts. It has already made a difference in that I drive the Volt more, not afraid to use the battery and then plug right back in for another 10-12 miles. Those little after work trips that used to be beyond the Volt's 32 mile range are now doable. Come home from work empty, plug in to the Amazing-E and in an hour or two(after dinner?)I have more than enough to do local trips and such. I love it, it makes using the Volt even more fun. For anyone who has a PHEV such as the Volt or one of the Fords, this is great. If you have a Nissan LEAF with a 3.3 KWH on board charger, plug this in at night and you should be completely full by morning. Even a Chevy Bolt EV, if you don't want to spend $500 or so on a 40 amp unit, this will work fine. Highly recommended. ... show more

    • An amazing EVSE for the price!
I've been extremely pleased with this EVSE. I've been using it to charge my 2017 Ford Focus Electric. So far it has reliably charged my vehicle every night. While it doesn't have the features of some of the other EVSEs, it allows the Focus to completely recharge during it's average 12 hour stay in the garage each night. Typical electric vehicles will charge at about 10 miles / hour with this EVSE. While it doesn't include scheduling options, most EVs, including the focus, have that support on-board to schedule charging for lower energy rates. Hanging it on the wall was straight forward using mounting screws available at any hardware store. I added a bracket to allow the cord to be coiled up. The 20 Feet cord is adequate, but I would recommend that a future version offer a 25 feet cord as option. I'd also suggest that AmazinE offer a dual-voltage version to allow one cord to be used on 240V or 20Amp 120V circuits. All in all the product is excellent, it's price competitive with the china-made EVSEs without any safety certification, but this one comes complete with UL listing, giving me peace of mind that my house isn't going to burn down overnight. ... show more

    • It just works, plug it in and forget it.
It just works! Bought for my Gen 1 Volt, charges it at the highest rate Volt can charge. Only works on 220v, which was fine with me, volt came with a 120v charger. Mounted it on outside brick wall, under 220v outlet I had installed by electrician. No issues with it being outside in the rain and elements. I wish the cord was a little longer, but it reaches where I park OK. The lights on it are simple, one tells you its got power, and the other tells you if there are any issues. I only had the issue light go on once. Turned off the breaker and turned it back on, and issue light never lit up again. Other reviews have said "The case is made by Delphi and the main circuit board is made by Clipper Creek" You can't beat Clipper Creek Quality. The Cord going to charging port, does have Delphi printed on it, Nothing to set on it, you just plug it in and plug your car in, and charging begins. Simple and reliable. ... show more
