AR100 1-Bike Model AR200 2-Bike Model AR300 3-Bike Model Get Out There! The front wheel pull-downs on the AR models include integrated locks, which prevent the arms from being released. An additional locking cable is recommended to fully secure your bicycle in high theft areas. The sliding wheel trays on the rack accommodate a wide range of bicycles. These can be adjusted to fit bicycles with a wheelbase of 35 in. to 48 in. Ratcheting wheel straps for both the front and rear wheels help to keep your bike rigidly in place. The straps are extra long and will fit around large. & wide rims (Including Zipp 808's). Both front and rear wheel trays will fit tires from a 23mm road tire up to a 3.5 in. wide MTB tire. The locking knob on the AR models allows the rack to be tightened into the receiver hitch with a wobble-free installation, and the rack can be locked in place for added security. Richard Allen (pictured left in 1972) started Allen Sports in his garage in 1967. Since its founding, the company has been committed to producing the highest-quality, easiest-to-use bike racks and bicycle-related products on the market. Richard, an onetime aerospace engineer, opened Allen Sports after building a prototype bike carrier in his Lincoln, Massachusetts shop in his free time. The 1bike rack has been working like a charm for 2 years. Easy to use regularly, study, safe and good looking. Not a single issue on heavy utilization. I can only recommend it. But the BEST part of it it has been the customer support. I have reached out a couple of times since we bought it with some questions and they are really responsive and helpful. This last week, the clamp for the wheel stooped working and the guys at Allen have provided a solution in just one day. I cannot ask for better product support. Easy to assemble and install onto the car. the rack is built pretty solid and with good material. To me it is well worth the price. The only thing the rack won't clear the hatchback of my Ford C-max with the bike loaded and is in the tilt position. also with the empty rack in the upright position, I have to lower it back down to open my hatchback, which is a little bit of a hazard, I wish the rack is a couple of inches further out which will be perfect. Here is some problem that I want the other user to be aware of: 1st with the bike locked with the arm, if someone has time to remove the rear wheel from the bike, the whole bike will be able to remove from the rack. so you are going to have an additional chain lock to secure the rear wheel to the rack. The rack carrier tray is secured to the tilt body with 4 screws, with the power tools nowadays, a theft can remove the screws in 2-3 mins, and the bike with the carrier will be gone. I tag-weld the screws and some of the bolts to eliminate this possibility. or you should have a chain lock to lock the rear wheel and the rack to the tilt body altogether. hope this information will help ... show more

Great product, easy install, wasn't sure how tight it would be. But after install and tightening product works with great tightness on the yoke. I would recommend this rack if you in the market for a bike rack. I installed mine on my dodge ram 1500.

Too bad that I could not leave zero stars. Trying to reach a live agent is impossible. I had to tell the bot why I was calling and then I was told that I would receive an email. When the agent emailed, I replied that my bike rack (AR-100) was defective, but the agent (Jimmy) would not accept that the problem was with the rack. He insisted that I needed to replace the missing wedge at the end of the bar that slips into my hitch receiver. I paid $25 for the wedge ($13.50 + shipping). Not only did the wedge not correct the problem, Jimmy refused to refund the full price, implying that the company was being generous by refunding $13.50 for a part that he recommended but did not work. He suggested that I seek a full purchase price refund from the retailer (Amazon). The "lifetime" warranty apparently applies only to racks purchased directly from Allen. In other words, "lifetime" at Allen means as little as thirty days (perhaps less) if purchasing from a retailer that has a thirty day return policy. I bought the rack last year but had used it only five times when it broke this summer. DO NOT BUY THIS RACK OR ANYTHING ELSE MADE/SOLD BY ALLEN. ... show more

I love this bike rack! See the pic, it actually clears my rear lift-gate even on a folded position. This is the main reason why I was looking for a single bike tray rack and bought this one (after wasting money for a more expensive one.. ebay here we go lol). Naturally, this only applies to my vehicle and I can’t say for all. Now I am glad I don’t have to take it on and off and just leave it on virtually perpetually. Construction seems solid and locks work perfectly. I have tightened the hitch knob and I didn’t feel any wobble. There were other reviews that says it is not safe to leave the bikes on for an extended period of time specially without additional cable locks. Of course it is! Nobody should be dumb enough to leave their bikes on racks unattended. This is simply to transport your bike to and from your destination and not use it as storage. Makes sense? I would even use a cable lock to protect my investment while waiting for the traffic light to turn green. Haven’t really tested yet on an actual drive and I hope I don’t have to come back here to change my review lol. Kudos to Allen! ... show more

UPDATE: The locking mechanism for the bar over the front wheel broke after 1 year of normal use. It no longer securely holds the bike in place, so I use a bungee cord to keep it tight now. I have contacted Allen sports about the issue and a week later still have not heard a response. May be worth looking at higher end rack mounting systems. I have no real complaints about this rack. It was easy to assemble, fits well on the car and holds bikes very securely. Folds up nice and flat against the back of the car and can tilt to move the bike out of the way (better for hatchbacks/suvs). The rack snaps into the 1.25" or 2" hitch receive tightly and you can lock it to the car for theft prevention. The arm that holds the front wheel in place even has a keylock on it (though it can easily be defeated by removing the front wheel, which can be done without tools on most modern bikes...I wouldn't trust the rack for that). My 27.5" mountain bike fits great, as does my 29". There is even a groove for skinny road bike tires. You can adjust the length or height for different wheelbases and wheel sizes. The single-bike version says the weight limit is around 40lbs, so I think an e-bike or heavy downhill setups would be pushing it. It doesn't rattle (much) or move around, or really have any loose parts once it's set up properly. It's very well made and low profile. Only (minor) complaint I have is that the straps to hold the wheels down to the rack are made of a plastic that looks and feels like it may fade in the sun, and possibly get brittle over time. I have also noticed the triangle shaped piece for screwing the rack in the receiver hangs very low, I have scraped it on low entrances but I also have a low car. Trucks and SUVs probably won't have that problem. I have left it on my car in the rain several times and have also noticed a little bit of rust forming; not a big drawback but I'd say keep it dry if possible. I try not to leave it on my car unless I'm using it which helps prevent these issues. But if you don't care, or usually park in a garage then it would be fine. Overall this is a really good rack for a modest price. You can pay 3x this for a big brand system but I honestly don't see what you'd really be gaining by doing that. Just what I needed to replace a very heavy off brand I'd been using and finally got a lift injury This is a one hand lift and has two strap in points and a very convenient wheel clamp that holds securely without touching the frame.
