abunda_amazon_reviews I got this camera because I didn't like other dashcams that required a big spot of your car's dash, and this one doesn't need any difficult setups such as sticking something permanent to your front window or using an adhesive. The setup was just slipping in an SD card and using the included bands that let you place the mirror dash cam over your existing rearview mirror. The device is also powered by a plug that comes included in the box and you just need to tuck in the cable into the sides of your car so they aren't visible. Other than the power cable being the most difficult part of the setup, the dashcam handles most of the software setup by itself and doesn't need much to get up and running. The dashcam has many features such as recording by itself when motion is detected and having the ability to record from the backup cam if you also installed it into your car. Even if you didn't install the backup cam, the dashcam would still function perfectly fine and doesn't require any additional steps if you do decide to use it. The camera's wide-angle lens is perfect for recording and captures a majority of the stuff that the lense of pointed to, and it records more than what is screen shows in the mirror. This dashcam has been performing very well and it's nice to have peace of mind by keeping a recording of things that happen around your car. I drive a Dodge Ram truck that’s lifted and wanted a backup cam that records both back and front. I really like the touch screen. Easy installation and power hook up to a cigarette lighter. I wouldn’t mind in the future to see one that you could wire directly to a power supply that’s not a cigarette lighter. I ran out of cable to reach my cigarette lighter so I purchased a extender. Worked great. I ran under my floor mat and seat to the plug in the back out of the way. I wouldn’t have ran into this problem with a car but I also ran short on the back camera cable. It was easy to purchase extra on amazon. Split screen showing front and rear is a very cool feature. Had no problem switching back and forth with just a swipe of my finger. The mirror portion does not have the clarity of a standard mirror but that is be expected. I was able to quickly adapt. The tech setting setup was fast. The pictures and video with date, speed, location stamp came out very clear with no problems. The unit sits on my mirror very tight with the strap provided, no movement noticed. The package looks very impressive and contains everything you'll need except the SD card. After installing it regularly over my existing rearview mirror, I was very very disappointed. During daytime I couldn't see a thing. Additionally, when turned off, the mirror quality was very bad as well. Then I thought, well, I actually don't need another rearview mirror. So why don't I use it as a regular dash cam? Look at my first picture. This is perfect as a dash cam. The front camera quality is outstanding with 2.5K resolution. It is too much pain to take out the SD card from my current setup. That's why I haven't uploaded any videos. The back camera is ok. Plenty of wires to makes it suitable for many different setup. I wish it could take advantage of the GPS module to show directions. I would always get blined by drivers behind me even when I flipped up the rear view mirror. After putting the DL9 in my truck I was no longer blinded by headlights and I could see always easily see what was going on behind me. When I saw AKASO came out with the DL12 I knew I had to try it and boy im glad I did. So they improved on the original design and worked out a few of the kinks the DL9 had. First of all the DL12 is HUGE, when I first saw it I thought no way would it fit in my car but sure enough it fits nicely and looks great. The extra room allows you to see smaller details you would see on the DL9. The biggest thing I loved with the DL12 is you can now display both the Front and Back cams at the same time which may not sound like a big deal but I would always get caught up switch between the screens on the Dl9 to make sure the front camera had the best view possible. The DL12 also got rid of the goofy camera pop out the DL9 had, the DL9 had the mirror and this this camera would pop out the side, I understood why they had to do it but it still looked goofy, Since the DL12 is so much longer the camera is built right into the housing. Now lets talk about the quality,so the rear cam is the same 1080P camera from the DL9 but the dash cam can capture video in 2K. The quality is is noticeable during the day but at Night its leaps and bounds better than the DL9 which can help capture license tags or car details in case of a hit and run. GPS: So this dash cam has a GPS module that can attach to your windshield or anywhere in your car as it has about 6ft of cable to it. The GPS locks almost immediately and I had a lock of 8 GPS satellites within 1 minute. It even tells you how acurate down to feet the GPS signal is which is nice. So you may ask why do you want GPS in your dash cam, Well the biggest reason is evidence! I have heard multiple times of people getting pulled over by law enforcement and they claim the person was speeding when they weren't, with the GPS module all your trips are logged with Geo data as well as the speed you were going, so if you ever get a speeding ticket you didnt deserve this would be the evidence you need to help fight your case. Now the cons: This thing is huge, but didnt I just say thats a good thing? It is, however since its so much larger it is a bit heavier which in some cases like mine the dash cam is to heavy and it keeps sagging down my rear view mirror, I had to use double sided tape and zipties to have the cables from the dash cam support it on my mirror so it doesn't sag.
