The spreader is definitely a solid product. My only complaint is the assembly is complicated and the directions are not very clear. It was also missing a couple small parts.

    • Love this spreader
Style: Spreader
First the good. This spreader is solid! It has a metal gear box with an enclosure that is easy to get into to service the gears. The pneumatic tires are great (although they are Chinese made). The height of the handle bars is great! No more slouching over to push a spreader. This is a plus and a negative. Due to the fact that you assemble the unit completely the control needs to be set. If it is set in the wrong position, you will not be putting out too much or too little product. The advantage though is you can truly calibrate the spreader to match let’s say a Scotts spreader rate or a Lesco spreader Rate. This is good because almost no product lists Agri-Fab spreader rates. I am having a hard time figuring out what settings to use and may need to adjust the calibration. Oh! And this thing is a monster. If you don’t have a lot of room in your garage for this thing, buy one of their smaller units. Now the negatives. The foot should have a rubber piece around it to protect it from getting scratched. As a result of not having this, just putting the thing down on the cement just once and the paint almost completely scratched off. That foot is probably going to rust real quick. There is no side deflector for this and the deflector that you can buy is kind of cheap and wraps around the whole base. The next model up that had a side deflector “Their Pro model” is $200 more than this model. Which is the same exact unit only different color and has the deflector and includes the grate and hopper cover). Putting it together is fairly easy although time consuming being that you have to put the entire thing together yourself and the directions although better than 90% or more still can get a bit confusing. I haven’t tried to put 130lbs of product into this but it filled up quite a bit with just one 25lb bag of Jonathan green Sunny mix seed. Being that seed is light though there is much more of it per pound I’m sure ... show more

    • The One Spreader That Does The Job Well

The bad news; If you are not mechanically proficient at putting things together this is not for you. The good news; Good design, strong unit, easy to set the flow rate of your product. Overall the best spreader I've ever owned. So much better than any sold at your local home and garden stores.

Style: Spreader
First off, buyers should know that they will be receiving a large, heavy box of unassembled parts and a couple of bags of fasteners. It's not like spreaders I've had in the past where you just take it out of the box and bolt the handle on. As the buyer, you will be assembling this product from scratch, just as it would be assembled on a factory assembly line. I've done mechanical work for many years, and consider myself pretty handy. I thought it was a pain in the tail to assemble, and it took quite a bit longer than I thought it would. The instructions were mediocre. If you don't have some skill with tools, this may not be the product for you. The parts in the box were not really protected very well and the paint was rubbed/scraped on several of the parts, which will lead to premature rust. Assuming you manage to get it assembled, you will find that it's pretty sturdy spreader. Not a Lesco, but better than the average home center product. It is big--much bigger than the average spreader and will take up more room in your garage or storage building. I do wish it had a folding handle to make it easier to store for the winter. I've used it a couple of times, and because it has big tires, it's relatively stable and easy to push compared to previous spreaders. I haven't tried it filled to the maximum capacity since my yard is on a hill. Mine has an annoying squeal that I'm going to have to locate and lubricate. The lever actuator assembly is far better than the cheesy cable/lever assemblies on the home center models. All in all, the positives outweigh the negatives, and I expect this spreader will last for a long time. ... show more

    • Expensive and won’t last
While all other spreaders are by far inferior, sadly this one isn’t too much better. Bigger tires, but terrible hubs. Came with a few missing bolts (2) so off to the hardware store. The tolerances were horrible so don’t tighten anything until fully assembled otherwise it won’t fit. And I wounding load this anywhere near it’s stated capacity if you want it to last. 50 lbs tops I would say. ... show more
