AFP-4091 Poplar Actual Flat Panel Box Newel posts have a pedestal size of 6-1/4" and an overall length of 55". Pedestal wall is 3/4" with the main shank at 4-3/4". Poplar is the best choice for a paint grade newel with its tight grain and economical cost. It can also be stained dark to match walnut, mahogany and Brazilian cherry hardwoods.The AFP-4091 Actual Flat Panel Box Newels are made with lock mitered corners, which means they have no end grains, developing elegance. Panels are "actual flat panels" which are done with styles and rails common to cabinet doors, creating sharp 45-degree corners.
