This is a great banjo which is especially for beginners but doesn’t seem like a beginner’s banjo. It’s built well as far as we can tell, and the sound is wonderful. I bought it for my husband and now I might want one too! It came packaged well and safely. The only 2 things wrong is that it did not include an owner’s manual or a battery for the electric tuner. But that’s ok because I bought a beginner’s book on how to play the banjo and we can buy a battery for the tuner. No big deal, just a bit inconvenient. Beautiful banjo, setup a little interesting. Plenty of extras. One issue I have is the point where the strap connects unscrewed by itself and I will need to pull the pan off to re install it.

Comes with 5 new strings. Already broke 3 of the original ones. The 5th string came wrapped and tangled under the base of the post. Had to be cut to get it untangled. The digital tuner reads A or D on the same string with no adjustments made. No battery or instructionscome with it. It works with multiple kinds of instruments. But no setting for banjo. Ukulele is the closest it gets to banjo. The only instructions that came with it were for how to install the bridge that was already almost in place with the strings tight. It was shipped that way when it says it would not be shipped that way to avoid damage in shipping. The thumb screw in tail piece was threaded in on a horrible angle or over tightened to the point it bent to the side in the hole. Would not buy again. ... show more

    • Light strings good for beginners

The picks are to stiff for the strings, light strings tend to require tuning often but are good for beginners. Bridge is wobbly meaning the head is loose but a wrench is provided. A good banjo if you don't mind a little work.
