    • Great weather clock for kids, or anyone
My son was always asking how hot or cold it is outside so here was the solution! This is the perfect little weather clock. It is very colorful. It is easy to read--bright during the day and dimmed at night (automatically). You can configure how dim you want it but not the times (9pm to 7am)--but these times work for us. I liked the USB port for charging things in the front. The fact that it is lit makes it easy to find at night. The fact that it is lit can also be annoying as the port is a little too bright. I solved that by making a little USB-shaped plug for it when not in use to muffle the light, so all is well. Note that the manual states that the outdoor sensor should be kept out of direct sunlight and out of rain. Not being in the sun makes sense as that might skew the temperature reading but not being rain-proof makes it a bit of a challenge to find a good place. Hopefully you have a shady porch like I do. ... show more

Can’t recommend this enough. -it has an auto dimming feature so at night it doesn’t glare at your face when you sleep -it’s reliable and tells the temperature inside and outside with accuracy -the weather prediction feature actually works -it’s an alarm clock with snooze -the display is pretty and easy to read -it looks modern yet a bit retro -can use battery or outlet power -if power goes out, it remembers the time when you turn it back on so no adjustment needed -the alarm gradually gets louder, no scary wake ups Great job, Acurite team! ... show more

This is a very nice weather alarm clock. The auto dimming function is perfect. The only issue I noticed was USB port in the front of the clock. I did not intend on using the USB, but what I thought was strange is that a very bright light come out of the port. Since this is on my nightstand by the bed, it was very distracting when trying to sleep. I ended up cutting a small piece of black electrical tape to block the light that came out of this port. ... show more

    • Do not recommend.
I have 2 cons with this. The preset auto dining timer can’t be changed which is set to 9pm to 7am. After 7am it goes to sun mode which will light up the whole house. My second con would have to be the dimming setting it needs one more setting to lower the brightness. Other then that it’s pretty nice. Update: the clock now stopped working as of this morning. I ended up being late to work due to it shutting off and not powering back on. I replaced the batteries and tried another power adapter still no go. Stay away from this clock I have found a better option then this clock. Also you are not able to get in touch with support. ... show more

    • Outdoor sensor stopped working after a month, time off by two minutes
I really liked this thing at first, however a month later and the outdoor sensor stopped working entirely. I noticed the outdoor temp was flashing, indicating interference, so I popped the batteries out and put fresh ones in and kept it close to the unit. No joy. The sensor appears to have completely died after a bout of heavy rain. Disappointing. :/ The clock also ran two minutes fast, oddly enough, but I had no issue with that. ... show more

    • Looked here and elsewhere and this one is super!
I wanted a good plug-in clock with battery backup and easy to use, easy to set the alarm when I am crazy tired. This clock is Super.... Weather is spot on. (and the outside meter is very easy to place) Nice to know the temp in the bedroom as well as humidity. I love that when waking up and not quite dialed in....I see the animation of what's going on outside right then. I live in the PacNW and yes, rain is typical this time of year, but when I wake and see the pic of the sun poking thru the clouds, I whip open my bedroom drapes right away and smile! I set the brightness display to actually wake me up by going from a darker display to a bright one. It reminds me of the old days when we could leave our drapes open and not fear a weirdo would be watching, and let the sun wake you at dawn. ... show more

    • Great nightstand clock and WX station - most of the time..however...
Owned since July 2019, today is Jan 1, 2022. Worked great until about a week ago when the brightness on the display started having a mind of its own. For no reason, it would go to full bright which lights up the dark bedroom at night. Not a good thing. I thought it has an option auto dim/brite mode that is based on a certain time of the day preset in the clock but I didn't like it as my bedtime would vary, and the light on this thing is very brite, so it was either flame thrower bright, or so dark its unreadable in the daytime. Since this was for a bedroom nightstand next to my bed I opted to just keep it in the full dark mode. It looks like the display is off in the daytime, but it was perfect for reading in the dark without messing up your nightvision. Tapping the snooze bar would bring the lighting up to read in the daytime for a few seconds if needed. I came to rely upon knowing the basic wx conditions outside, and the bedroom temp, along with using the USB port for charging an iPhone. It is cheap quality construction, and the alarm switch is so loose I would never trust this clock to be a reliable alarm clock. Didn't need that as I have an iPhone to wake me. For 30 bucks it lasted 2 1/2 years until the goofy lighting problem started waking me up at night. Replacing the backup batteries [which still powered the clock even during power failures] and the sensor batteries which were low didn't help. All the connections are about as good as they can be, I just think it's lived its life as a nightstand clock/wx station and I need another one. I'd probably buy this exact one again. It's not perfect but for the basics, it was nice to have. The one I have I might keep in a nonsleeping room. It still works, but won't stay on dark mode. UPDATE: I stopped using the USB port on the clock for charging my phone and now plug the phone directly into a wall outlet. The works seems to work better now. ... show more
