The 93-year-old mother of a friend asked if I'd change a light bulb for her. After I perched precariously on her two-step widow-maker step stool, I asked when her birthday was. "May," she said. "I'm going to get you something that will insure that BOTH of us see our next birthday." Three days later, I showed up with her new stepladder. She couldn't have been more pleased, and I was pretty darned happy, too. It's a little heavy for her, but it opens and closes easily, and stores in a tiny space. She found she could carry it horizontally better than vertically. The high handrail made her feel very comfortable on the second step, which is about as high as she'll ever need to go. I am giving this product a five star rating because of the sheer heights that I can reach with this step ladder. I would have to agree with one consumer about the weight of this thing. Don't get me wrong, I am so glad that it is study, but my word it is a hunk. I am very petite and trying to fold this thing back up is a pain. I wouldn't discourage anyone from buying it, I'm just giving a heads up. I love that I can stand on the top step without fear, and the step are wide enough for my fat feet:). I would buy this again. Product came quickly via Amazon Prime. The actual ladder looks the same as the Amazon photo, but it is taller than it appears to be. I selected this ladder based upon its price and the 330 lb. rating. I left it outside unpacked for a day and, by mistake, there was heavy rain. There appears to be no rust nor any other damage yet but I would not recommend permanent outside storage. The ladder collapes fully into a straight line and easily opens for use as ladder. Perhaps "ladder" is a wrong description as the rubber-coated steps are wide -- just less than one foot in width -- whereas a ladder usually has narrow uncoated steps. Maybe "stepstool" is a better description (there is no stool for sitting) but I intend to use it as a ladder to replace ceiling lamps, fire alarm batteries, reach closet shelves, and maybe to reach kitchen upper cabinets. Other uses will surely appear. As I received the ladder only recently, durability can't be determined without months of frequent usage. However the ladder appears to me to be solid and durable for normal or frequent usage for a long period of time in a household setting. Fact: I am not connected to nor beholden in any way to the purveyor of this item, nor to Amazon except as a customer. I purchased this for use in my veterinary clinic and the staff loved it immediately. It is very easy to use and transport around the hospital and is the perfect height, as so many other step ladders had only 2 steps and would be less useful. I would buy it again absolutely.

I am 314 lbs. 67 yr. old female and am very secure standing and climbing on this step ladder. Very sturdy, ample step width and metal frame to hold onto going up and down. Without my weight on this 4 step ladder, it is a bit shaky but is solid with my weight added. Have so far only needed the first 3 steps. Easy to open and close.. A bit hefty in weight but easier to carry on its side vs upright so not a problem. Slim design stores in a closet. Happy with my purchase.

When I say this thing is difficult to close, I'm talking it takes 2 to 4 minutes to get the thing to close. Not impressed. Same for my hubby who is a hand guy. Makes you want to chuck the thing across the room frustrating. It does not have an actual button or mechanism to close it. You have to do something right, we just can't figure out what that something is. If you never want to close the ladder, this is the purchase for you. ... show more
