  • Nice product
I used the foam blocks to complete a sound deadening of my television cabinet from the room behind it. The first layer of the cabinet walls is butyl followed my a thin layer of PE sound deadener. Both are Noico products. To finish off the inside of the cabinet I wanted some more sound deadening and something to further reduce any reflective sound waves. So I chose 12 x 12 inch acoustic foam panels. The result is very good and I have to turn the television volume way up high to hear anything from the room behind the cabinet. I will add that I had no problems expanding the 12 x 12 inch foam blocks. They arrive compressed of course to make them easier and less expensive to ship. Half of the foam blocks expanded to their full size on their own. The rest I rinsed in water to expand then wrung them out. It is Winter and the air is dry so most of the foam blocks dried quickly. There were a couple of stranglers so I put them in the clothes dryer for a few minutes. To apply the foam blocks I used 3M Super 77 spray adhesive. I only applied it to the foam blocks, not to the surface I was mounting them to. As I said, my results are very satisfactory although I don't know if the foam blocks by themselves would have giving me the performance I was after. I think the butyl layer is quite important. Hope that helps anyone wondering about these. ... show more

  • They do expand and are quite dense
I read several reviews and was almost thrown off by the statements that the acoustic panels did not expand fully. Instead, I opted to get 3 different products to play it safe and ended up liking this one the most... though expansion is something you have to plan for. When you get the product, it is vacuum sealed, so they are flat to start and need time to expand. I opened the package, laid the panels out and let it sit over night. Some looked good, some looked deformed with only parts expanding. As I had time and I really liked the ones that had expanded, I played around with them. Given time, they should all expand, but it's a dense foam and sometimes a little help is needed. For one that just wouldn't budge, I wet down the side that was not expanding and let it sit for a day or so. Popped right out. Bottom line If you have some flexibility, the product was the best at reducing noise of the ones I ordered, the best value, and very easy to work with once they were expanded. That said, if you are in a hurry or don't have the space to lay out the panels so they can expand, you may want to consider other products or buy spare packages. ... show more

  • Prep REQUIRED
Let me suggest you do not wait 24-48 hours for self expansion as it will not happen. This is said over and over - it is not a lie. If you need a large volume like I did you may want to consider panels that are not vacuum sealed. I bought 300 of these panels for my dog boarding kennel so I needed a quick way to get these to expand. I opened the first box that had 7-12 packs, peeled them apart while throwing them in my bathtub full of water (which worked!) but soon realized, too late - I was on a mission -I had to wring each one out with carpal tunnel syndrome and still had to dry them because no amount of squeezing was going to work. My dryer being fairly new has a moisture sensor I cannot figure out how to shut off. Due to that the dryer turned off every 3 min because the foam holds the moisture deep inside. These are SPONGES! So here are my practical tips after trying several science experiments: Rinse and Spin one pack at a time in your front loader. This alone will save you hours. I’m using the steam cycle on my dryer because the water is disconnected. They get almost completely dry and doesn’t shut off as often. I’m sticking them to the walls with acoustic panel glue in a bucket. Then, using fans in the boarding kennel to completely dry them out and I’m sticking them to FRP not drywall so the initial moisture doesn’t matter. No doubt they help with the acoustic dampening. I do not hate them but they are a pain in the hinder. ... show more

  • Great Product!
The product got shipped in within six days from the US to Malaysia. It was packaged in a vacuum bag, meaning that all 12 panels that I bought to either be inflated with water or leave it for a day or two (according to the card readily available inside). I chose the former, and it eventually expanded back to its original shape (although it left a distinctive smell in my bathroom). Just in case you're wondering, yes, you can wring and squeeze it while they're wet to get the water out. I honestly have no complaints. There's no tear or defects to note. And being an acoustic foam, it will work well to reduce the echo of my room. I will definitely come back to this seller for more, assuming that I have more money to spare. Our currency is relatively weak compared to the US dollar, after all, and shipping costs are more expensive than the items I bought. Still worth it in the end, though. ... show more
