I found two small kittens knocking at my front door about two-and-a-half years ago and decided to take them in they are now the size that barely fits through this door. What is important to know is they both are very important to me and they think I am their God I only believe that because I hold the keys to the refrigerator. The white cat is the larger of the two which is to say they are brother and sister. He is never far away from me. Which brings me to the point of buying this cat door. I run the air conditioner in the smaller of the two bedrooms in my apartment. The larger cat wants to be in the same room that I'm in. Which is to say any closed door bothers him and he wants to get inside. So the incessant scratching during the night and me having to open the door and then he turns right around and wants to go back out because the door is closed. The reason the door is closed is to keep the air conditioning in during humid dog days of summer. I'll try to make the long story short but the door for the cats has been a godsend it was easy to install and they now come and go as they please. Even while I write this note, the larger cat use the door to come in because he was wondering who I was talkin to I'm using the microphone LOL. Curiosity I suppose. There is a variety of reasons this door has been valued. Saving the air-conditioning instead of wasting it leaving the door open, MY sanity, my sleep, when they need to get out of the room,... This was a great door but have had for 6 weeks and cats still won’t use without the door being propped open..

    • This is an attractive cat door.
Our cats always seemed to be on the wrong side of the kitchen door to the screened lanai. Putting in this cat door solved the problem as they come and go as they please. Now they're not constantly meowing at me to let them out or back in again.

Love this thing separate the cat/laundry room and rest of house. Cats have no problem using it and keeps the dogs out of their stuff. Believe it or not the cats use the little window to see if dogs are near where they want to come out. Little tricky installing as template was a bit off and we added metal brace for stability (piece of metal screwed to bottom or door). ... show more

    • Not as easy as I expected
This is a great cat door. My two go in and out of it all night. That being said it makes noise like a saloon door everytime lol cutting the door was kind of a pain but overall happy with it.

Basically had to free hand the whole for the door. As if continued to not fit. Received 16 screws in two types for ten holes. Luckily we made it work and the cat fits even though it’s really small

The media could not be loaded. Good quality and it looks nice. The cats learned to use it right away, I made a game of it. It did need to be cut down for my door (1 3/8" wide) which I did with a block plane, that worked well. I think the pictures show how I did that. I screwed that side in before cutting it, but also kept back pressure as to not break it with the force of the block plane. I decided to place the flush side toward the kitchen and recessed toward the basement. It can go either way. It looks much nicer than keeping the door open. The litter box was moved to the basement, so this was a must have. Also, another reviewer said theirs made noise when it swung. It does but I think it's because of the magnets that hold it shut. I assume the purpose these serve is to prevent the pet door from swinging loosely when the primary door is in use. One small negative to be aware of, the pattern could be just a bit larger to provide a slightly looser fit. You don't want the hole too snug else you'll squeeze the frame, and the door will hit the frame when it swings. Draw the line with the pattern, and then cut just outside of it. I used a jig saw.
