This device excels at simplicity and performance - getting the job done quickly. It provides instant information with an easy to read screen. Test unit revealed a very small vehicle emission leak, along with the code. It helps with the MIL (Idiot) light that will not turn off. Cleared the above DTC (Device Trouble Code) with a few clicks and the light is off. Size is small and highly portable. Fits in a safety vest pocket, glove box, center console, or side of door trim panel. It is extremely light weight. It fits inside a ZipLoc quart freezer bag nicely to keep stay clean and dry. It is built tough. The casing is solid, the screen is recessed, and the cable is reinforced at both ends to minimize long-term bending damage. Recommended Uses: Analyzing your vehicle in 2 minutes before going to the Dealer for service; getting free lunches from your friends after analyzing their vehicles in 2 minutes. The media could not be loaded. At such a low retail cost I really wasn’t expecting much. However, I am pleasantly surprised. Our Lexus had multiple lights on the dash so I thought I would give it a try. It quickly connected after plugging it into the OBD2 port. You can watch the video for the details. It has the capability of allowing you to manually enter a code and it will pull up the info that explains what the code is, in detail. It will also read battery voltage, engine coolant temperature, RPM, road speed and lots of other stuff. The unit appears well made with a heavy cable and plug in adapter. The buttons are easy to use but do require a firm push to activate the button. This seems much better than having a button/switch that is super sensitive. The readout, albeit a bit small, is each to read. I am very happy with this. While I can’t speak to its longevity, for now I am impressed! Thanks. MY PERSONAL COMMENTS: I am an approved Amazon Vine Member. We are provided the opportunity to order (free of charge) many items that are new to the market, or where a seller just wants some additional exposure for their product. Plastic case construction. In testing with car small display is bright and clear. Buttons are rubber and feel responsive. OBD2 code lookup is very simple, just enough to give you an idea of what is wrong, a starting point for doing research. On the main menu, battery displays the voltage reading of the battery, nothing else. One of the obd2 menus has real time charting of vehicle speed, load, rpm, and coolant temperature. No settings to adjust chart size.

The A-Premium AD100 Universal OBD2 scanner diagnostic tool and car code reader works very well. It's simple to use and comes with easy-to-read directions in case you have never used one of these devices. I quickly found that I did have an error code, and I could diagnose it and clear the error within a few minutes. Use four simple buttons to navigate around the menus. The only confusing thing was the yes/no prompts with only the "OK" button. But the ESC button is the "No" button. If I would have looked closer at the manual, it would not have been a problem. But you can also check a lot of other things such as the oil temp, speed, battery, etc. It's a great tool for less than $25 to add to your toolbox because one day, you will probably need it and wish you had it.

Very simple tool that’s easy to hook up to your car and get to the bottom of the dash light that keeps popping up. Before going to the mechanic you can hook this up to your car to tell you exactly what the problem is. This is really useful in guessing how much the repair might cost and if it is serious enough to get your car checked out. I had a dash light on my dash for a long time and this told me the car was running lean, I was able to do the repair all on my own! Once I was finished I cleared the light using this device and it didn’t come back on. Mission successful! Very good price and not so complicated it’s impossible to use. 100% recommend!

I ordered this scanner because I’ve been having issues with my 2020 Ford Escape Battery. It seems to die very quickly. I wanted to use the scanner to test the battery. I received the scanner, read the directions and tried it out. The instructions state I should start the car, then connect the device. I tried that, nothing! I tried with the car on, but engine not running, nothing. I tried with the engine running, nothing. I tried connecting before and after the car was in both states, nothing. My unit is apparently DOA. Worthless from my point of view.

This code reader reads the engine codes but does not tell you what the codes mean. That is the reason for a 3 star rating.
