This is a very nice compact unit we use on our balcony and also when snowshoeing, etc. All you need is a packet of Dextreme Fire Starters to get it going; they're on Amazon and cheap. The media could not be loaded. I've used this great lil stove about 20 times. It performs reliably and puts out heat for over 2 hours! That's heat not flame. I used wood pellets and the coals at the bottom put out lots of heat even when the flames die down. Great purchase! I'm buying a couple more. I’ve owned a few different styles of these little stoves. The configuration on this one was nice and on par with the better burning stoves I’ve owned. I do like that it’s bare stainless steel, as the painted ones get grungy fast. What I like most about this one is the size. It’s just slightly larger than most of the small ones, which is nice. As with all of these, I would never recommend using on an actual tabletop, unless the surface is fireproof.
