In setting up the 2nd system had a issue with the NVR, contacted Customer service via Facebook and received a prompt response. They help with solving the problem and quickly shipped a replacement. Before I received my order, Smonet company sent me some instructional videos, including setting up a different system than I had purchased, playback, and backing up video. The latter two were helpful. This wireless system with a monitor and cameras is good quality. For setting up the package, you will need a Philips screwdriver to attach the monitor to the stand. Also, I recommend buying a longer ethernet cable for your home modem/rotor beforehand because the one supplied is extremely short. The hard drive is preinstalled with this package, so you do not have to do it. The NVR comes with a mouse so that you can navigate the system. Once the system is plugged in and turned on, with the ethernet cable plugged in, you must enter a password. The username is a default. When you attempt to enter a password, the system will indicate that it is wrong even though you just turned the unit on and never set it up. As a result, not mentioned in the instructions, you must select the option that you forgot your password. It will bring you to a setup screen where you must scan a QR code on your smartphone, which will download the “XMEye Pro” application. Once the application is downloaded and you have created your username and password, you must follow the instructions to change the password on the NVR system. The instructions were not too complicated, but you must have a smartphone because QR codes and passcodes are used. Once you can log into the NVR system, you must start plugging in cameras with their power source. The power adapters are much longer than shown, but you might need some extension cords. One by one, each camera will show up on the NVR screen. The “XMEye Pro” application also lets you view the cameras on your smartphone. I tested the two-way audio system on my smartphone, and it worked fine. I could have a conversation with another person. When I tried human recognition, the system alerted my smartphone promptly. To navigate through the NVR system, right-click on the mouse where you will find numerous settings. The supplied user guide was helpful in these areas. I was not able to download the “XMEye Pro” application onto my computer, but it worked well on my smartphone. Even though the initial setup was not as easy as I had planned, I still highly recommend this product. This is not a plug and play system. I was frustrated with all the passwords and instructions not being clear enough for me. I am not a tech nerd but have had surveillance cameras in the past and I found this one semi-difficult to use.

I use these four cameras for my most important areas of my home for my security system. (My other cameras, which connected to my wifi hub, would not continuously monitor those most important areas of my yard. It always took at least 15 seconds to get a camera to display its video and then it was not in "real time"!) This system provides a "real time" video (without any delay) constantly on its monitor, plus I can access each (or all four cameras) on my cell, when I am not at my home. I also like the warning that is announced at (selected) cameras, when motion is detected. Many features I have not tried out yet which I plan to activate (as I learn more about them)! First of all, I'd like to give 5 stars for the Customer Support, specially a person named Steve, for his efforts of trying to help solving issues I faced with this product. He really did his best to sort out problems; I really appreciate that. About the product: I had to jump through bunch of problems, spent lots of time and frustrations to get to the product to work. First issue I faced: Out of the box, the screen showed bunch of vertical stripes and after several mins, it went broke (see my attachment). I sent an email to Customer Support, got a response quickly with steps to trouble-shoot, but nothing worked. So, Customer Support sent me a link on amazon for a replacement of NVR with a cost of $1, which is great; I don't mind 1 buck. Excited when receiving a new NVR as a replacement; powered it on, screen worked; that's a good news. The second issue I faced: the menu didn't work, which didn't allow me to set up anything. Righ-click on the mouse to pop up the menu: any selection from the menu will send me to login popup, then click OK from login popup sent me back to the camera main screen. Righ-click > selection from the menu > login popup > OK button > back to screen; and that's the cycle it goes. Emailed back and forth couple times with Customer Support, the issue still existed. I bought this product a while back and didn't set it up till now. I couldn't return it. Before deciding to throw it away, I tried one last thing: I opened up to the broken-screen NVR. It turned out that one side of a small black lock that locked the cable from the graphic card to the screen was broken. The lock was loose and so did the cable. I fixed that and I had the screen back. Then, NVR couldn't get ONLINE. This time, rather than emailing and waiting, I sent a text message a Customer Support through Skype. After messaging back and forth several times, I chatted with Customer Support, (Steve, nice guy), to get things sorted out easier. I was asked to install couple desktop-sharing software so that they could telnet to NVR and installed fixes. After they installed fixes; my NVR is ONLINE. I haven't installed cameras out side the house yet to be able to write a review about camera. The camera installed indoor seems to work good, it's kinda close to the NVR and the router though; so the signal is good. ... show more
