Amazon for the win! I discovered a wheel bearing issue on my Hyundai minivan and ordered the replacement parts. Watching a YouTube video, I saw this tool and how to use it. By this point, I had the vehicle stripped down and ready to change out the parts but the hubs were firmly stuck. After seeing the video, I looked on Amazon for the tool and found one which would arrive in time for me to work on my vehicle at the weekend. Amazon delivered on time and I was able to easily fit the tool to my vehicle. The manufacturer included a wide range of nuts to suit just about any vehicle, including mine. Took just a couple minutes to fit to the hub and we were off to the races. About 5 strikes on the tool with an 8lb sledgehammer got the first hub removed. It was a similar pattern on the passenger side too. This is a case of where the tool actually does exactly what it is intended to do with no drama. The hubs were firmly stuck in the suspension knuckle and I have no idea how I would have removed them as easily without this tool. 5 stars for sure. It didn't bend or deform from being struck and for the money, this was an easy buy. Top tips: before you even start, liberally dose every, nut, bolt and connection with Kroil or a similar penetrant. It will make everything a LOT easier. Jack up your suspension and put something like an axle stand under it, then let it down. I used 8" concrete blocks and a 2x6 on top to support the suspension. This takes any bounce out of the suspension and makes the tool a lot more effective. Understand that once you have the hub out of the knuckle, you will still have to get the hub off the CV joint. You'll need a 3 legged puller to do this so plan ahead.

Was attempting to replace both rear wheel hubs on a 2016 Mazda CX-5. Beating the hub with a sledge hammer did nothing but bugger the bearings even more. I borrowed a slide hammer puller from the local Advanced Auto Parts but it had no luck breaking the corrosion and freeing the hub. Put this tool on and two smacks with a small sledge hammer popped the hub out. Same effect on the other side. I've read some people worry that a tool like this might deform the metal that the hub fits into and if I had to beat on it repeatedly and forcefully I might agree. But given how little effort I put into the 2 sledge smacks I'm not worried about deformation. There were no instructions included but it's pretty simple to use. I do think you'll have better luck if you put something under the suspension component so that it's rigid and doesn't move while you're smacking downward. A pile of 2x4 pieces worked great for me.

I decided to tackle the wheel bearing/hub assembly replacement on my 2010 Subaru Legacy. In these vehicles, the bearing installs into the opening of the steering knuckle so that the bearing OD is in contact with the ID of the steering knuckle for about 3/8" width. After removing the 4 bolts attaching the assembly to the steering knuckle (this was a chore itself), I couldn't for the life of me get the hub assembly out of the steering knuckle. I tried every rust penetrant and tool combination (mini sledge pounding any way that made sense, air hammer, etc.) to absolutely no avail. The thing wouldn't budge. The standard way to remove these is with a hub puller and slide hammer. I had those available, but didn't even attempt because there was no way that was going to work. Note that I am in the rustbelt, land of rusted out vehicles. This thing was seized worse than anything I'd tackled so far. After several days of traditional attempts, I was about to throw in the towel and purchase a new (used) steering knuckle and hub assembly and just take the tie rod and ball joints off to replace the whole thing. Little did I know this tool existed. I'd seen someone use one on a rear hub assembly in one video I'd watched, but I didn't realize it was an actual tool I could purchase and not something they fabricated for personal use. Before completely throwing in the towel, I saw more people referencing the tool online so decided to purchase it. Within minutes of receiving it in the mail I attached it and gave it a few whacks and the hub came out of the knuckle. I gave it three whacks, expecting to need more, but I'm pretty sure it had released after the second whack. If you live in the rustbelt and plan to do your own wheel bearing/hub assemblies, do yourself a favor and purchase this tool. I can't imagine what my mechanic would have charged for this hub replacement job. My only regret is not finding and purchasing it sooner. This thing may not be worth it's weight in gold (it's heavy, that would be a lot of gold), but it's worth every penny. I'm looking forward to using it on the other 3 hub assemblies when I'm ready to replace those. It will turn a several day DIY mechanic job back into the few hours it should have been.

Works well for breaking off Subaru wheel hubs; nothing else I tried could do it! Highly recommend using this before trying anything else if you work on cars in the Rust Belt. One warning: the included hardware is garbage that will shatter after 1-2 hits, just throw it away and buy yourself Grade 8 washers and nuts from your local hardware store. I had never seen a wheel hub this stuck before but after 10 minutes of good hits (with upgraded washers and nuts) it came right off.

What a time saver. I tried everything i could think of to get the rear wheel bearings out of My 2017 Buick Enclave. Nothing worked. I happened on this tool and boy am I glad I did. It took less than 24 hours to get to my house. I bolted it up as per the instructions. Smacked the end of the tool 2 times with a 5 lb hammer and the bearing came right out!! The tool is well worth what I paid for it !!!

Saw similar product advertised for easy extraction of bearing hubs. Just bolt on to lug studs, whack it a few times, and bearing hub should pop out. So, after doing all the prep work, including removal of caliper and bracket, brake rotor, parking brake assembly, all hub bolts, and liberally spraying on PB Blaster, I bolted this bad boy on and began to pound away with a sledge hammer. No luck! Gave it rest and applied more PB and let it soak for another day. Came back and pounded some (a lot!) more the next day. Still didn't work. After all the hammering, the included washers and nuts got distorted and stripped, so I bought some harder ones. Still didn't budge! Figuring the only thing I was accomplishing was adding thousands of miles of wear and tear on the suspension bushings, I threw in the towel! Found another way to remove the hub, and using an air hammer and chisel was able to pry the hub loose. It appeared to have welded itself in by electrolysis between the aluminum knuckle and the steel hub. Further research revealed that this is a common dreaded problem with certain Subaru hubs, including my '13 Outback. In my case, no amount of smashing away with a sledge hammer was going to work. The only way was to pry the hub out, either by chisel, special puller tool, or other method to apply wedge force between the hub, backing plate, and knucke. By the way, it took a lot of work just to get the hub out of the backing plate as well. Had to sand down the outer diameter of the hub, then pound it out. Long story short, Subaru could have prevented this situation by simply adding a little anti-seize on the hub during assembly! Bottom Line: While it may work for removal of many hubs, it was unable to do the job for me.

I was replacing a rear wheel bearing on my girlfriend's 2018 Subaru Crosstrek and got myself into trouble trying to do it without the right tool. I tried everything I could think of to get the bearing out and nothing worked. I ended up making things worse before I bought this. Once I had it, the job went smoothly. It bolts right onto the hub, and from there it's just a matter of hitting it with a hammer (I used a 4 lb) to drive the bearing out. The trick I found that made a big difference: rotate the hub so the tool is at the top, hit it, then rotate so it's at the bottom and hit it again. Alternating top and bottom like that keeps the bearing coming out evenly instead of cocking sideways and binding up in the housing. Solid, simple design, does exactly what it's supposed to do. Worth keeping in the toolbox for future jobs (especially Subarus).

Before this tool came into my life, prior to replacing a bearing I had to declare war on my car. I brought out the full arensenal of bearing busting weapons: torch, sledgehammer, penetrating fluid, crow bar. The car would declare glorious victory over me. I would drive in defeat, the bearing roaring away, mocking me for being defeatrd. Once this tool entered my arensenal, my life was changed. No longer must I declare war against a rust welded bearing, for the bearing shivers at the sight of this tool, practically popping itself out. I grab my impact gun, secure the supplied bolts to the hub, and strike with furious blows from my small sledgehammer. After a few strikes the bearing is freed from its rusty prison. Every bearing shivers at the sight of this tool. I am now the envy of my friends for no bearing stands a chance. Axel or not, they come out with just a few hits. Bearings everywhere should be warned of this tools might. Very easy to use, bolts on with supplied nuts (comes with a ton of different sizes) and washers to your hubs studs. Seems extremely robust and after three replacements so far it will probably last my entire life. The bearing buster 3000 is the ultimate tool for your box.
