Amazon for the win! I discovered a wheel bearing issue on my Hyundai minivan and ordered the replacement parts. Watching a YouTube video, I saw this tool and how to use it. By this point, I had the vehicle stripped down and ready to change out the parts but the hubs were firmly stuck. After seeing the video, I looked on Amazon for the tool and found one which would arrive in time for me to work on my vehicle at the weekend. Amazon delivered on time and I was able to easily fit the tool to my vehicle. The manufacturer included a wide range of nuts to suit just about any vehicle, including mine. Took just a couple minutes to fit to the hub and we were off to the races. About 5 strikes on the tool with an 8lb sledgehammer got the first hub removed. It was a similar pattern on the passenger side too. This is a case of where the tool actually does exactly what it is intended to do with no drama. The hubs were firmly stuck in the suspension knuckle and I have no idea how I would have removed them as easily without this tool. 5 stars for sure. It didn't bend or deform from being struck and for the money, this was an easy buy. Top tips: before you even start, liberally dose every, nut, bolt and connection with Kroil or a similar penetrant. It will make everything a LOT easier. Jack up your suspension and put something like an axle stand under it, then let it down. I used 8" concrete blocks and a 2x6 on top to support the suspension. This takes any bounce out of the suspension and makes the tool a lot more effective. Understand that once you have the hub out of the knuckle, you will still have to get the hub off the CV joint. You'll need a 3 legged puller to do this so plan ahead.

2017 Subaru Impreza, rear hubs. After getting to the hub, with a couple of whacks of a hammer, they appeared to be stuck. Ordered this tool. It arrived the next day! While I had picked up extra bolts and washers after reading the reviews, I ended up not using them, but just the hardware that came with the tool. Once mounted, I started off with an 8 pound sledge. 2-3 hits from the top, followed by a couple from the bottom. After about a dozen hits, it fell out. Yippie! On the other side (drivers), it only took six hits with the sledge, but when the hub came out, so did the drive shaft! I had a five inch two arm gear puller. At first, it was no joy. I soaked it in pen oil and that evening made a tool that would allow me to more precisely center the gear puller on the center of the axle without mushrooming the end of the axle. Repeated hits with a low end air hammer didn't work. I heated with propane and applied pressure. Air hammer. Heat, more pressure, air hammer. After about five of these cycles, the axle started to push out. The hub then would not come out of the casing around it. I put lots of oil on it and rigged up two 4x4 pieces of wood and wailed on it with a 2lb hammer. My son and I traded on and off with this for several minutes before it popped out. But by God, the car is now quiet! A bit of work, but well worth it! Oh, after the beating with the sledge, the washers that came with the tool were pretty trashed.

bought this wheel bearing removal tool to replace the wheel bearings in my GMC Acadia. It kind of works but is not a stand alone tool for this job to remove the bearing. It is very well made and does assist in the removal.

I’ve turned wrenches for forty years and it’s not what I want to do anymore but couldn’t get myself to pay the high prices for a wheel bearing replacement. $500!!! 2014 Subaru Outback. This tool is awesome! Seven wacks with a 10lb sledge hammer and the bearing fell out! Had both bearings out in less than an hour!!!

Saw similar product advertised for easy extraction of bearing hubs. Just bolt on to lug studs, whack it a few times, and bearing hub should pop out. So, after doing all the prep work, including removal of caliper and bracket, brake rotor, parking brake assembly, all hub bolts, and liberally spraying on PB Blaster, I bolted this bad boy on and began to pound away with a sledge hammer. No luck! Gave it rest and applied more PB and let it soak for another day. Came back and pounded some (a lot!) more the next day. Still didn't work. After all the hammering, the included washers and nuts got distorted and stripped, so I bought some harder ones. Still didn't budge! Figuring the only thing I was accomplishing was adding thousands of miles of wear and tear on the suspension bushings, I threw in the towel! Found another way to remove the hub, and using an air hammer and chisel was able to pry the hub loose. It appeared to have welded itself in by electrolysis between the aluminum knuckle and the steel hub. Further research revealed that this is a common dreaded problem with certain Subaru hubs, including my '13 Outback. In my case, no amount of smashing away with a sledge hammer was going to work. The only way was to pry the hub out, either by chisel, special puller tool, or other method to apply wedge force between the hub, backing plate, and knucke. By the way, it took a lot of work just to get the hub out of the backing plate as well. Had to sand down the outer diameter of the hub, then pound it out. Long story short, Subaru could have prevented this situation by simply adding a little anti-seize on the hub during assembly! Bottom Line: While it may work for removal of many hubs, it was unable to do the job for me.

I was replacing a rear wheel bearing on my girlfriend's 2018 Subaru Crosstrek and got myself into trouble trying to do it without the right tool. I tried everything I could think of to get the bearing out and nothing worked. I ended up making things worse before I bought this. Once I had it, the job went smoothly. It bolts right onto the hub, and from there it's just a matter of hitting it with a hammer (I used a 4 lb) to drive the bearing out. The trick I found that made a big difference: rotate the hub so the tool is at the top, hit it, then rotate so it's at the bottom and hit it again. Alternating top and bottom like that keeps the bearing coming out evenly instead of cocking sideways and binding up in the housing. Solid, simple design, does exactly what it's supposed to do. Worth keeping in the toolbox for future jobs (especially Subarus).
