  • Excellent heater at this price.
Size: 3000 Gallons
UPDATE: I've had several communications/inquiries with customer service via email, and my initial reservations about not having a phone option have been alleviated. They have been very informative, asked pertinent questions regarding my particular installation, and requested details or photos when applicable. Heater is working great and quickly raises the temperature when I lower it during non-use periods. Have had this heater installed for about a week now, and so far it's doing an excellent job. We upgraded our pool size this year to an approximately 1800 gal model, and the heater increased the water temperature from about 58 degrees to 80+ degrees in just a couple of days. Keeping the pool covered anytime it's not in use definitely helps with heat retention. Too early to tell what kind of impact the heater will have on the electric bill, but as this is an actual heat pump, I'm hoping it will be minimal, if at all. On our prior pool, which was about half the size, we were using several wand heaters (my wife called them curling iron heaters) , and you could feel the cords getting warm from the amp draw so I know they got the electric meter spinning. The only concern I had was a small amount of water that became visible from one bottom corner of the heater. Vidapool service confirmed that this was normal condensation from the pump operation, which I suspected. Once the water appeared, I did a pretty thorough inspection for leaks and none were detected. I guess the only negative comment (and not a big one) I have is that communication with Vidapool service can only be conducted via email, there does not appear to be a way to talk to someone live. Thus the 4 stars as versus 5. However, the two times I have emailed them (once for warranty registration and then for the water concern) they responded promptly. Also, with regard to the warranty, the unit had a registration card in the box that offered a free upgrade from 2 years to 3 years on the warranty, with one free replacement available if necessary. Almost forgot, the app that's available for remote connectivity is a major plus. I can easily track the pool temp from the inlet reading on the app, and then bump up the temp in the morning while I'm at work if I know the granddaughter is going to be using the pool in the afternoon. Nice perk! ... show more

  • Better features and upgrades than older version we had before. Great for Midwest usa
Size: 6500 Gallons
Excited to try this version out. The older one we had last year had an issue and the company warranty covered this newer version. Hoping for a wonderful spring through later fall pool season in Ohio.

  • Solid Small Pool Heater – Efficient, Quiet, and No Leaks So Far Solid Small Pool Heater – Efficient, Quiet, and No Leaks So Far
I got this 12,000 BTU pool heat pump because I was tired of dealing with cold water and didn’t want the ongoing cost of a gas heater. My pool is on the smaller side (right around that 3,000-gallon range), so this seemed like a good fit on paper. Setup took a little effort but wasn’t overly complicated. You do need to hook it into your existing pump/filter system, so basic hose connections and a proper power source are important. I had no issues with compatibility—it connected fine with my above-ground pool setup using standard fittings. One thing I paid close attention to was leaks, and I’m happy to say I didn’t run into any. As long as the connections are tightened properly and you use the included seals, it stays dry around the unit. In real use, I’ve been running it a few times a week, especially after cooler days. For example, after a windy evening that dropped the water temp, I turned it on the next morning and by late afternoon the pool was noticeably warmer and comfortable to get into. It doesn’t heat super fast, but it does a good job bringing the temperature up gradually and then maintaining it. Compared to the small electric immersion heater I tried before, this is way more effective and feels safer overall. That older option barely made a difference and took forever. Compared to gas heaters, this is definitely slower, but much cheaper to run and easier to manage long-term. Pros: * No leakage issues so far when installed correctly * Works well with standard above-ground pool setups * Energy-efficient compared to gas heaters * Quiet while running (not disruptive at all) * WiFi/app control is convenient for adjusting settings * Maintains water temperature nicely once it gets there Cons: * Heating takes time—not instant * Really best for smaller pools (around 3,000 gallons) * Setup may require a bit of DIY confidence or help * Performance depends on outdoor temperature This is a great option for anyone with a smaller pool who wants steady, reliable heating without high energy costs. It’s especially useful if you plan ahead and don’t expect instant results. Helpful tip: Make sure your hose connections are tight and seated properly to avoid leaks, and use a pool cover when you’re not swimming—it helps keep the heat in and improves performance a lot. Overall, I’m pleased with it. It’s not perfect, but it does exactly what it’s supposed to do for a small pool, and it does it efficiently and quietly. If you go in expecting gradual heating and install it correctly, it’s a solid buy. ... show more

  • Efficient Heating and Cooling with Smart Controls and Home Assistant compatibility
I've been impressed with the performance of this 75,000 BTU pool heat pump. For pool owners looking for a more energy-efficient alternative to gas heating, this unit delivers excellent heating performance while also providing cooling capability for those hot summer months. Integrated nicely in Home Assistant using the Tuya app. The 12 COP efficiency rating is one of the biggest selling points. Compared to traditional electric resistance heaters, heat pumps move heat rather than generate it directly, resulting in significantly lower operating costs. After installation, it became apparent why heat pumps have become so popular for pool heating. The unit is rated for pools up to 21,000 gallons and has no trouble maintaining water temperature once the desired setpoint is reached. Like all heat pumps, it works best when maintaining temperature rather than trying to rapidly heat a cold pool, but once dialed in it does an excellent job. The built-in WiFi functionality is a welcome feature. Being able to monitor and adjust settings remotely from a smartphone makes pool management much more convenient. Scheduling temperature changes and checking system status remotely adds a level of convenience that older pool heaters simply don't offer. Build quality appears solid. The cabinet feels sturdy, the controls are easy to navigate, and the overall construction seems appropriate for outdoor installation. The unit runs surprisingly quietly compared to what many people expect from pool heating equipment. I also appreciate the heating and cooling modes. While heating is the primary reason most people buy a heat pump, the ability to cool water during periods of excessive summer heat can be a valuable feature depending on your climate. Pros: • Energy-efficient heat pump technology • Strong 75,000 BTU heating capacity • Heating and cooling functionality • Convenient WiFi controls • Quiet operation • Lower operating costs than many alternatives • Suitable for both above-ground and in-ground pools • Maintains temperature effectively Cons: • Requires 220V electrical service • Like all heat pumps, heating speed depends on ambient air temperature • Professional installation may be recommended for some users Overall, this is an excellent pool heat pump that combines efficient operation, smart controls, and year-round versatility. For pool owners wanting to extend their swimming season while keeping operating costs reasonable, it offers a great balance of performance, features, and value. ... show more

  • Fantastic Early Start to Our Swim Season!
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5 Stars Fantastic Early Start to Our Swim Season! I recently installed the Vidapool 35,000 BTU Heat Pump for my pool, and after testing it for the past three days, I am thoroughly impressed. If you are on the fence about extending your swim season, this unit is a game-changer. Performance & Heating We installed this on our pool (which is approximately 9,000 gallons), and it has performed exactly as advertised. Within just a few days of operation, we have already noticed a significant, consistent increase in water temperature. Being able to open our pool much earlier than usual this year has been a huge win for the family. It’s comforting to know we can finally swim comfortably even when the weather is still on the cooler side. Energy Efficiency & Technology One of the main reasons I chose the Vidapool, aside from the 35,000 BTU output, was the intelligent inverter technology. I love that it doesn’t just blast at full power and shut off; it dynamically adjusts its output to maintain the temperature. It’s far more efficient than the old heating methods we’ve used in the past, and I’m expecting to see those savings on my energy bill. Smart Control & Noise Level The WiFi integration is incredibly convenient. Being able to adjust the temperature and set schedules directly from my phone means the pool is always ready when we want to use it. Plus, it is remarkably quiet. Even when standing near the unit, the 32 dB noise level is barely noticeable, which is a big plus since our pool equipment is relatively close to our patio area. Installation & Support Installation was very straightforward. The package came with multiple connection options (1.25" and 1.5" adapters, plus a PVC converter), which made hooking it up to our existing plumbing painless and hassle-free. While we haven’t needed to reach out for major repairs, it is reassuring to know that the company offers dedicated professional technical support. Verdict For $1,799, this heat pump offers a great balance of power, efficiency, and modern convenience. It’s well-built, quiet, and does exactly what it promises. No leaks easy to instal! If you have a pool up to 9,000 gallons and want to reclaim your swim season, I highly recommend the Vidapool 35,000 BTU unit. Fantastic value for your money! Pro Tip: As the manufacturer suggests, make sure to use a pool cover—it really helps the unit maintain that heat more efficiently during the cooler nights! ... show more

  • Quiet, convenient pool heater, but don’t expect instant hot water
Size: 9100 Gallons
This heat pump is a nice upgrade if your pool is usually just a little too cold to enjoy. It does not work like a gas heater that blasts the water hot in a hurry, but it does a good job gradually raising the temperature and then keeping it comfortable. For me, that is the real value: it makes the pool usable more often, especially in the morning, evening, or early in the season. Setup is fairly straightforward if you are comfortable working with pool hoses and fittings. The included adapters help, and the unit is compact enough that it does not take over the equipment area. I would still pay close attention to hose connections, water flow, and the electrical setup. This is not something I would rush through, and I would avoid using a questionable extension cord. I was able to get it all together with no leaks on the first try. Stability is best if you provide a well-prepared base. The WiFi control is more useful than I expected. Being able to check or adjust the temperature from the phone makes it easier to plan ahead instead of walking outside to change settings. It also runs quietly enough that it fades into the background, which matters if your pool equipment is close to a patio or sitting area. The biggest limitation is heating speed and sizing. The product claims strong performance, but real-world results seem to depend heavily on pool size, outdoor temperature, circulation, and whether you use a cover. A solar cover or pool cover makes a big difference. Without one, cooler nights can steal back a lot of the heat you just paid to add. Overall, I like this heater as an efficient way to extend pool season and keep the water comfortable. It is best for someone who understands that a heat pump is about steady temperature control, not instant heating. I took off one star because the marketing makes it sound a little more effortless than it really is, and performance will vary a lot depending on the setup. Overall, it is a good value. ... show more
