I have been in the process of installing this radio for about 2 months now. I am in contact with AWESAFE, who have been helpful, but it takes several days per question to get resolved. To install this radio and its wiring, you will need some skill in removing and replacing dashboard, glove box, and other components. I installed the microphone up by the rear view mirror and ran the wire across the headliner, down the door post, under the dash panel and to the radio. I installed the GPS antenna under the front dash panel. I installed the WiFi antenna in behind the glove box. All of these have wires to route through the dash and to where the radio is. You can also install a SIM card if I want to - there's a slot included in the wiring harness. Then you'll need to route a wire/adapter from the radio to the steering column and install a T-adapter to enable the steering wheel switches. Also, if you want to use your existing OEM rear view camera, you'll need to buy a Reverse Camera Retention Wiring Harness and connect it to a plug behind the glove box. Otherwise, you can install and run the wires for the included backup camera yourself. Once all those wires and peripherals are installed, you can remove the radio trim panel and remove the radio and CD player. Then connect the wiring harness to the car and connect all of the wiring to the back to the radio. I did not install the included speaker for the door chime because the existing OEM one still works fine with the new radio. AWESAFE has an install video I made for this unit in a 2016 Silverado if you ask them. Once the radio is installed and working, you'll need to configure the radio settings. This actually became the most time-consuming part. The configuration options are transliterated from Chinese, so some don't make sense in English and there is no instructions or guide about what the nonsense config options actually do. For example, they call the proximity sensors "Radar". You will need to get the latest CAN bus update file from AWESAFE because I found some issues with how the ambient air temp sensor displays the temp on the top of the display, and they fixed it. A few software issues that are annoying: The Home screen is OK - I asked if I could customize it but they said no. I would like the time display to be more normal looking. And I would like the nav bar at the top that displays the date/time and temperature to be a larger font. There might be a way to do that - possibly if I root the device which I really don't want to do. The "radar" display on the rear video while backing up does not work - they said they are looking into that. The AM radio does not receive all available channels that the OEM radio did - it's like the antenna only works for FM. Overall, it's nice to have a configurable, Android device to replace the OEM radio and be able to install by own apps (like navigation and music apps) via WiFi. I also like the physical knob and buttons that makes it easier to control the radio without hunting and swiping. But there is some proprietary software like the home screen, local radio app, and configuration screens that you cannot change. I was trying to keep this radio as a standalone, offline device, but you can of course use Android Auto or CarPlay from your phone if you want. ---------------- Update 7/18/25 after using the radio for 6 weeks: - Radio does not receive all local AM stations. I don't think a booster would help with AM radio signal. The reviews I read on Amazon say that it does not work for AM. - Much of the functionality of the device depends on its proprietary software, which apparently is written by the manufacturer in China and cannot be modified. - I am not able to modify the laucher/home screen or the Android navigation bar font sizes. - There are no Android navigation apps that match the original Chevrolet navigation features. - Most android devices cannot receive digital radio signal. - Most people connect their cell phone to the head unit, which allows streaming content for maps, music, radio, video, traffic alerts, etc. I do not connect my cell phone to the head unit, so this is a disadvantage for me. These are all problems with using an Android device as a head unit rather than the Chevrolet radio/navigation screen. One of the nice things though is having all my music files loaded on the Android head unit. I think that is the only advantage for me, so I may go back to the OEM Chevrolet head unit.

Now this is a serious upgrade! I wanted to find a new stereo for our Chevy Silverado work truck. The original just had no features that seemed to serve any purpose anymore. After searching for a bit, I did run across this radio and was excited to see that it would be compatible with our truck. This stereo is a CarPlay to be installed and created by AWESAFE store. Based on the visual presentation, I felt that this seemed like the most logical choice. Now that I have this home and installed- I can say this is one of the best upgrades that I've come across. So many incredible features. Below, I will outline some of those features for you. *Special features to consider: -10.6 Qualcomm (4+64GB) CarPlay and Android Stereo -Make: Chevy-GMC -Model: Silverado, Sierra -Compatible Yrs: 2014-2018 -Bluetooth connectivity -GPS Navigation -Wi-Fi Connect -Wireless All in all, I do find that the engineer has done a remarkable job with this stereo. The functions all operate as they are intended. I find that the designer opted to use premium grade material, which leads me to believe the longevity would be unmatched.
