We installed this 42" fireplace in our "fort" - a 3-level structure we built for our kids to play in when they were young. Since they've grown, we insulated and finished off the interior space with paneling, and furnished it into a nice retreat space. But it has no insulation under the floor. This limits the use to 3 seasons up north where we live - once the weather turns cold in late fall, the fort gets too cold to sit in comfort. Installing the unit on one of the walls was simple. We screwed the metal hanging bracket to a couple studs, hung the unit, removed the front glass panel, added the decorative glass pieces, reattached the front panel, plugged it in, and were using it within about 25 minutes. The heater has two settings, and the low setting works great to take the chill off this small space! We're hoping the high heat setting will allow us to use the space even on the coldest winter day. The fan-only setting will also help move air around in the hot summer months. The remote is handy to sit back and alter the flame and glass bed colors, speed, and brightness. Being able to change the ambiance of the space with just a change of lighting and flame effects lends an air of elegance and drama, as well as making the space "feel" warmer... even without the heater on. The only complaints are the power cord could be a bit longer, and the heat intake/output cutouts in the front glass panel detract from the otherwise clean, elegant look of the unit. But these are minor annoyances and don't affect the performance of the unit. The unit can be built into a 2x4 stud wall, but you'd need to frame out the opening with an appropriate header. Otherwise you could build an enclosure for it and decorate it however you see fit - sheetrock/paint, tile, faux stone, rustic lumber, etc. We chose to wall-mount it just so we could get it up and running to enjoy the fort as the weather starts getting colder! PROS: - Clean, modern look - Easy installation - Plug in electrical - no wiring required - Multiple flame/bed lighting options - Two heating options, and a fan-only setting. - Compact remote control - Surface mount or built-in option CONS: - Wish power cord was a foot longer - Cutouts in front glass for vents/heater output detract from overall elegant look

I recently got this electric fireplace installed in my living room and I’m pretty pleased with how it turned out. The design alone makes a big impact. The wide format really dominates the wall in a good way and gives the room a focal point that feels upscale. The flame effects are convincing and the multiple colour options for both flame and ember bed let you match your mood or décor easily. I found the ability to switch between flame speeds and brightness levels especially nice when I wanted a cozy subdued look vs a more dramatic one. It isn't overly loud and if you have any experience with space heater fans you'll recognize the sound. The heat output is decent for supplemental heating. It works pretty well when I want extra warmth without firing up the furnace. The fact that the fireplace can be used just for ambience (flame effect only) means it still adds value in warmer months too, which is a nice bonus. It's quite relaxing to watch. There are a couple of things to watch out for. Because it’s a large and wide unit, installation takes some careful measuring. Make sure your wall can handle the width, and that the power outlet is positioned appropriately behind or near the unit. Also, the depth and mounting requirements mean you’ll need to ensure clearance and ventilation per the manual. The materials and finish are good for the price, but if you inspect closely you might find it doesn’t have the ultra-premium feel of high-end custom fireplaces. It's a good value unit, but if you're expecting something that should cost 5x as much well, you might be disappointed. The remote and controls are intuitive, and the flame visuals get plenty of positive comments from friends and family. I also appreciate that the heater has adjustable wattage/heating modes (e.g., 750W vs 1500W) so you can dial it down if you just want ambience or to save power. If you are looking for a big statement electric fireplace that gives strong visual appeal, good functionality, and decent heating for the price, this model is a solid choice. If you’re very particular about ultra-premium finish or need heavy duty space-heating, you might find trade-offs.

What a nice fireplace. I am by no means a professional dry wall person or construction guy. That said, I was able to build a surround that blended in nicely to my wife's office. This fireplace gives nice ambiance to her office. On top of that, once the surround was build, install was super easy. It gives off more than enough heat for her office. On colder nights, we will turn it on with the door open to heat other parts of the house. It is well built and gives off plenty of heat. It has various light settings to match your mood or room. I wish there were more heat settings instead of just low and high, but that doesn't take away from the overall quality of the unit.

I had seen these electric fireplaces in the past but I always thought they looked tacky. But then I saw this one and thought it was pretty elegant! It’s really attractive. And it’s nice and heavy and I feel confident it’s going to last a long time. Now that the weather is getting colder, it keeps my house nice and cozy and looks nice doing it. AND it’s easy to keep clean especially since I have dogs and cats inside that shed and leave lots of dust. Im really glad I decided to give it a try. It’s totally worth the cost.
