When you first open this up it seems really complete, with two batteries and three extra chains. Which is a good thing, because I can't see them lasting any longer than the charges on the batteries if you get into anything really hard. It has an oiler which doesn't seem to leak profusely like some, and the batteries are standard import profile like Abeden, Shintyool, Alloyman, etc. so they're fairly interchangeable with most generic import 18V-21V tools and use the standard 21V barrel plug charger. On fresh wood, it's a little better than a pruner for things over 1", but 2" green wood is about all it handles without bogging. 3" is do-able, but you're at the limit of this tiny chain with tiny teeth. If you're cutting dry seasoned firewood, you can use it on a 3" or slightly larger log as long as there is no weight on the end to bind it, but it isn't fast. I'd say this might be a good cane cutter and a handy trimmer to augment your pruners but it just didn't impress me. The chains swap out easily and the batteries hold a charge, but after the first outing I threw the first chain away; it wasn't really worth trying to sharpen further. It's useful to a point, and extremely lightweight, but anything beyond branches and saplings is beyond it's ability. The price is mediocre for what it does, but it isn't overly expensive either. Bob's tip: If you do get this you'll be best off working with two hands, as you need one to push the sapling over to keep it from binding.

The media could not be loaded. This is a review of the 6-inch Vorlesen cordless chainsaw, which I’ve been using for a couple of weeks. I’m rating it 5 out of 5, with one caveat: I wish it used branded batteries like DeWalt, Milwaukee, or Makita. Performance and use For $75 (or around $63 on sale), this little saw has been excellent. I’ve used it primarily for clearing deer trails, and it’s made the job far easier than using loppers or a hand saw. It cuts through grapevines and small branches effortlessly and saves a lot of time. Each of the two included batteries provides roughly 20 minutes of steady use, which is respectable for the price. Design and features It comes with four chains, a sharpener, safety glasses, gloves, and a bar guard. The chain tension adjusts using a side screw that moves the bar back and forth—simple and effective. I removed the front guard because I needed more flexibility for upward cuts in dense underbrush, but it does come with one for safer use. Battery system My only complaint is the proprietary battery setup. Since I’m already in the DeWalt ecosystem, I can’t use my existing batteries or chargers. The included charger works fine, but having to rely on it separately is less convenient. Still, for the performance and price, that’s a minor tradeoff. Pros: • Powerful for its size • Includes four chains, charger, gloves, and safety glasses • Compact and easy to handle • Excellent for trail clearing and pruning • Great value for under $75 Cons: • Uses proprietary batteries instead of a mainstream system • Limited runtime if both included batteries run out Bottom line: The Vorlesen 6-inch mini chainsaw is a fantastic compact tool that punches well above its price point. If it used interchangeable branded batteries, it’d be near perfect. As it stands, it’s still an easy recommendation.
