I have another Zostera winch that I use to load vehicles onto Uhaul trailers. My neighbor gave me his old car hauler trailer and I decided to get a winch to permanently mount to the trailer. I picked up a small tongue box and cut a hole for the winch cable to feed through. I have it mounted in the box to keep it out of the weather. I am using a marine battery that I can charge up before hauling the trailer to pick up vehicles. This winch is super strong and doesn't even strain when pulling a full size 1/2 ton truck onto the trailer. I generally use a single line to pull the vehicle close, then switch to using a snatch block to give a little extra grunt pulling it onto the trailer. I couldn't ask for more. My coworkers now ask me to help them haul vehicles when needed. Less than a tow truck, and better care for their vehicles.

The Zostera 4500lb ATV winch is a great piece of equipment with solid build quality. I primarily use it as a hoisting winch in my garage to lift Jeep tops on and off, and it performs that job perfectly. The drive runs smoothly, the electronics feel sturdy and reliable, and the included synthetic rope is a great upgrade over traditional steel cable. While I haven’t tested it extensively in real-world ATV recovery situations yet, I have no doubt it would handle that kind of work with ease. Overall, a well-made and versatile winch—I’m impressed enough that I’m planning to order another one specifically for my ATV.

This is meant for a small utility vehicle, but I fit it to my trailer and it pulls just fine. Getting things on the trailer is a lot easier now! I added a battery and battery box, and charge the battery from the vehicle. Straightforward and easy to install and use.
