Description

28 Inch Banjo MINI Mulucky was founded by a young and creative team. Let us witness the growth of Mulucky. Mulucky banjo features an adjustable truss rod design that allows every player to keep the neck straight by countering the pull of the strings and natural tendencies in the wood. How to adjust the neck? When the action is too low, loosen the nut outside of the rim and tighten the nut inside the rim. Strings will go up from the fingerboard. If the action is too high, loosen the nut inside the rim and tighten the outside nut. Strings will go down to the fingerboard. After the bridge is placed, you can tune: As the picture shows, Put the tuner on the Banjo head and turn it on to B mode, and pluck the strings one by one from the GCEA string. When the tuner pointer stays in the middle, the tuning is successful Mulucky banjo can not only be a resonator banjo but also an open back banjo by detaching the back of the banjo. The open-back banjo produces a mellower, softer sound while the resonator banjo style produces a very bright sound. Two different styles of the banjo are to meet the different demand of the player. A feature usually found only on more expensive banjos, this geared 5th tuner is an important upgrade over the common friction tuner.

This is a great little banjo. I’ve got many others - including the far more expensive mini Gold Tone Plucky - and this little guy is a keeper. I’ve been playing it nonstop since I got it. It came with everything you need to get started, including a gig bag, tuner, strap, strings, pickup, and even a handy guide for placing the bridge, which can be challenging on these small instruments. I did make some modifications to fit the oldtime style, like taking the resonator off and stuffing cloth in the back, but it holds a tune and plays beautifully. The tone is surprisingly good for a small banjo. It also has no sharp frets, which is more than I can say for most instruments in this price range (and even some more expensive). You’ll see people calling these toys, but this is most definitely a real, functional instrument. My only complaint is cosmetic: The maple rim is an aged yellow while the neck is younger blonde maple which makes an awkward demarcation (see photos). But the figuring on the fretboard is lovely. If you’re on the fence about buying one, in my humble opinion it’s worth every penny. ... show more

Bought this banjo so I could practice while traveling, or in the livingroom. Amazing value! It's small, but has similar construction as my $800 Deering! Those who say it goes out of tune don't understand that the strings are newly strung and need some time to tighten up, just like with the full sized banjos. I highly recommend this purchase for those new to the banjo who want a way to improve their skiils while traveling, or for those who want to give kids a place to start. ... show more

Do not recommend. Waste of money for something that can’t hold the tune. Lots of extras are not worth the instrument. Have to sell it at a garage sale! Missed the return date due to delay in giving it as gift. Get a real one at a music store and save yourself the frustration.

Very pleased! Some reviewers commented on the difficulty of intonation and placing the bridge. Don’t know why; it only took 2 minutes to get it intonated right using the 12th fret and harmonics method. Didn’t use the included plastic bridge setting guide; it didn’t look like it would’ve worked in any case. Also noticed folks claiming they tuned it in open “C” because of short neck; again, don’t know why because it tuned easily in a standard banjo open “G” tuning. Would give it five stars, but Amazon won’t let me check the fifth star. ... show more

    • Clawhammer player - have owned MANY banjos over the years - here are my thoughts on this one

So like the headline says, I've a clawhammer banjo player, have owned a LOT of banjos over the last 20 some odd years. Omes, Chuck Lee, Mike Ramsey, Bart Reiter, Deering, Gold Tone, etc... .all of them open backs. I got this one in lieu of another Deering Goodtime to use for traveling, it's smaller, lighter and definitely cheaper. I will say this banjo is an EXCELLENT value for the money for the most part. Overall the construction was good, nice finish, fingerboard is nice, etc. There were a few minor things, mostly with the 'resonator' on the back. Keep in mind, the 'resonator' on this one doesn't have any sound holds like a traditional banjo resonator, it's basically a thing circle of plywood screwed onto the wooden pot in back. Which brings my first QC complaint, where they screwed the resonator to the pot (they advertise it as removable), the screws they used (they are tiny) actually split the thin little pot in a few locations. Not a big deal, but not something encouraging to see. With that said, the resonator removed does warm up the tone some, like most of us clawhammer players like. But keep in mind its still a very 'tinny' sounding banjo. Very bright. The next complaint are the tuners. As others have said, they just aren't that great. I believe they'd be better suited finding some open gear tuners of a bit better quality for the same price. Or even charge a little more and get you some decent tuners. Lastly, the setup is a bit tricky. They give you a nice little measuring template thingy to show you the bridge positioning. However, keep in mind this is just for reference and you still need to 'tweak' the final position (you can find videos online on how to do this). That's where this thing gets very touchy, where just a fraction of an inch will be enough to move the reference note (for intonation) too far one way or the other. I never could get it exactly accurate. But with that said...it really isn't that critical I don't guess, but banjo guys will know what I mean when I say it's just....annoying. Anyway, I would NOT recommend this for a beginner banjo player either. Just too tricky to set up, too tricky to tune and keep in tune, and honestly a small fingerboard like this is a pain to play. Get yourself a full size banjo first, then go from there. It'll be a lot easier. For the seasoned player, Again I will say you get your moneys worth this one for sure, as it's a nice little banjo. Decent looking banjo, the back looks cheap the rest looks and feel decent. Easy to play with a decent sound. Plenty of extras. I recommend it if you are a new player and want to practice while on the go.

    • Great beginner mini banjo for the money

I'm just starting out, so I'm not an expert on what makes a good banjo. It feels well constructed, and it doesn't constantly fall out of tune (a common problem for inexpensive string instruments). There doesn't seem to be any standard on sizes for mini banjos, and I read some posts online where people were having difficulty tuning their mini banjos to open G. I was happy to find that this mini banjo easily tunes to open G. If you're a beginner, you probably want that, because that's what most beginner banjo lessons will use. This comes with just about everything you need for starting out: tuner, picks, extra strings, etc. I'll probably end up getting some metal finger picks, but the plastic ones that came with the banjo are fine. My banjo came with the colorful strap pictured with the sapele banjo, even tho I got the maple banjo. Good for me, because I like the colorful strap better. Just be aware there's probably no guarantee on what your strap looks like. I think this is a great little banjo for the price. If you're looking for a mini banjo and you don't want to spend too much, I highly recommend it. ... show more
