The crystal-clear glass makes the fish look so vibrant, and the 92% light transmittance gives such a clean, immersive view. It feels like a mini underwater world right in my living room. I especially appreciate that the kit comes with a heater. Most “starter kits” leave that out, but it’s absolutely essential for tropical and sensitive fish. Tank is pretty good so far. It was easy to put together and it's not loud at all. You can adjust water flow which is good. Lid is easy to remove which is nice. The light is OK. If you want something brighter or with different colors, then you'll have to buy a different light separately. The heater seems to be doing it's job. It comes preset for 78 degrees. Light turns green when the temperature reaches that, red when is not. The black background is a good addition so you don't see anything behind it. The tools included are useful but not entirely great either. Now I'm just waiting for the tank to cycle before I add fish. Definitely recommended, specially at that price. ... show more

The fish tank itself is great — very solid and well made. I also really love the lamp. The filter works fine too. I’ve only had it for about 4 days haha, but so far it’s working great. I can’t say yet how long it will last, but no issues with the filter at the moment. However, the heater is a big problem. My recommendation: throw the heater away and buy a different one. The heater fried my fish because it does not keep the temperature at 26°C as advertised. Mine kept going up to 30°C. It heats very fast, but it does not regulate the temperature properly — it just keeps getting hotter and hotter. ... show more

This is an absolute steal for its size and the products you get with it. The filter is quiet and the filter media keeps the water levels more even. The tools are helpful and it is easy to maintain a clean tank. I also really like that the back of the tank is tinted to really make the features inside stand out. My only gripe with this purchase is they did not give me anywhere near enough substrate for my tank. I like to have about an inch and a half of substrate so my plants can grow comfortably with strong roots. This didn't come with enough to even cover the bottom evenly. However, I still give it five stars because everything else is perfect. Just know you'll probably have to buy more substrate. ... show more

    • Good for some things….

The glass structure itself is fine, the heater seems to have difficulty maintaining a constant temperature though because this is a lidless tank. The sizing of the aquarium is fine but if you are looking to add a cover note this does not have a frame and most covers do not properly fit it. The light burnt out yesterday- one day before my return window is over. The lighting itself isn’t ideal and the filter does not seem super effective- a lot of buildup in less than a month of use even with cleaner fish in the tank. In my opinion- I really wanted to like this tank but it is not ideal with the equipment provided and the half cover lid is not very useful. The fact that the light burnt out so early when aquariums are supposed to be lit for 8hrs is crazy to me… the tank itself looks sleek in the sense of the glass being frameless so if you just needed a tank for plants it would look very aesthetically pleasing ... show more

This tank kit looks great out of the box, but what satisfied me most is how well the system is designed once you set it up. The hang-on-back filter is the standout feature. It uses a sponge and ceramic biomedia—not disposable cartridges—so it supports a stable nitrogen cycle. The flow is gentle, quiet, and perfect for a betta. The water stays clear, and the filter provides plenty of oxygen without stressing my betta, Vincent. The tank itself is beautiful: the black-tinted back hides equipment and reduces reflections, and the soft bottom pad keeps vibrations low. It all looks clean and modern. The only weak point was the included preset heater, which ran too hot and too cold. I replaced it with a quality adjustable heater and bought a digital thermometer, and now the setup is excellent. I also added blue gravel to deepen the substrate and provide some color. If the manufacturer upgraded the heater, this would be a near-perfect kit. Overall, a great little aquarium with a surprisingly high-quality filter and excellent design. With a better heater, it becomes an ideal home for a betta. ... show more
