This tow behind aerator is a well constructed heavy duty, 65 lbs when assembled, lawn tool. It may cost a bit more but it is worth the extra cost. The first direction was to set out all of the well marked packages. I found one that was missed labeled. It was easy to correct. The instructions were easy to follow in a step by step format. A extra person to help in put-it-together make it less difficult to put together. I found the metric wrenches that were sent was thoughtful but using a english measure socket and open end wrenches close to the metric size can be substituted and easier to use. The only problem I had was putting the orange top on wrong. The opening for the lever on the orange top needs to line-up thie the black part it is attached too. I had it just about all together when I realized I put in on wrong . I had to turn it around to match it up. I rank this as one of my better purchases at Amazon

All in all 5 stars for a tow behind aerator

Aerator arrived in expected condition. The build quality is solid and heavy for a tow behind. Assembly is a little tedious but relatively straight forward. I messed up a couple bolts and had to replace but that was user error and no fault of item. One wheel needed to be replaced but seller is sending me a replacement no questions asked. I'm giving this 5 stars for several reasons. Its relatively inexpensive and I would absolutely buy from this seller again. In fact I just ordered their dethatcher. It does need added weight to the tray but that is something all tow behinds require. I used 180lbs worth of sandbags my first time. My yard is clay heavy and I only used this on parts I've recently watered. It was pulling decent sized plugs. Its not as effective as a commercial product(obviously) but I don't have to fight to find a day to rent an aerator from my local store. Locally its about $100 a day for a commercial aerator so I would break even on this after a few uses. All things said, I have no regrets with this purchase.

NOT A CORE OR PLUG AERATOR. Will cost a fortune to return after assembly if your box was destroyed in transit. Even after breaking it down UPS wanted $75 for a box to hold all of it. **This is a spoon aerator & if you have a nice lawn you want to aerate, this is not what you want. It RIPS the grass out at the root, & does NOT pull plugs up & deposits them like you’d expect it to. The quality of the build is fairly solid except for the way the wheels are designed to mount. They are rikety, at best.

Flimsy construction not up to the task

After just one partial use (about 15 minutes) many of the tines bent over. I straightened them ant it happened again. My soil is very dense (hence the need for an aerator) but this is not up to the task. The solution will likely be trying to build some more resilient tines. Additionally, the cheap bungee cords provided to hold the weights on the tray tore in just minutes of use. I do not reccomend this item due to its flimsy construction. Edit: The seller has responded to my concerns and offered to replace all the tines or provide a full refund. So 1 star for the machine but I added a star for surprisingly good customer service.
