Needed a beginner banjo for Celtic style and this fits the bill. The resonator is a beautiful piece of wood and it worked so well I had to take it off because amateur banjo picking is not something everyone wants to hear for miles around.

    • This is a Tenor Banjo

I originally wanted a plectrum banjo but was pleasantly surprised when a tenor banjo arrived. The quality is very high for such a low price. Most tenor banjos are pretty expensive, and this one is very affordable. I did just tune it like a plectrum, and that seems to be working out quite nicely! CGBD works well. You could tune it to tenor tuning and be fine. CGDA. The sound is great, the tuning pegs seem a little cheap, but they work wonderfully! Just be aware this is a tenor banjo and not a plectrum banjo, perhaps it said that in the description and I missed it. Either way, this is a wonderful purchase, and I will most definitely buy from this company again in the future! ... show more

Great tone. Keeps in tune. Very fun to play. I love that it has a wood tone ring rather than aluminum. It makes for a full and rich sound.
