  • Hear That? Not As Well.
This is perfect for larger section of walls, ceiling or doors. The adhesive tape is a hit or miss with the textured walls, even after cleaning the walls. I recommend using an adhesive spray as all of the foam stays securely on the surface. They help absorb the sound creating a sound dampened area. I have rebuild a sound room using this, it in sounds great (no pun intended). ... show more

  • As advertised
Great sound dampening, easy to stick up, about the same price everywhere! Great acoustic panels for the price.

  • Mid tier foam
This stuff will cut down some echo in a room with a lot of hard surfaces, but it isn't going to kill the sound in a room like you might want if you're making a studio at home. The foam is relative low density, which means it doesn't eat as much sound. There's a tradeoff and a point of diminishing returns on foam density, but this one isn't near that point. It does make an improvement, but this is the panel you put up far away from the mic in a big room to save money, not one you use in mission critical parts of the studio. I'm not a pro, but after playing around with a lot of different products you can tell which ones will give the best results. It isn't a terrible option, but it definitely isn't the best option. ... show more

  • Won't stick
The tiny adhesives circles it comes with sticks well to your wall, but not the foam. You'll have to buy extra sticky stuff.

  • I don't have a professional's trained ear, but...
These actually do make a difference. I tested it out, after installing other sound proofing around my office, and I can hear a difference for sure, in recordings and other rooms. I even played music loudly, closed the door, and I can now barely hear it in the next door bathroom, where I would use to hear it almost plain as day beforehand. So it's definitely absorbing something. Haha. I can't wait until I finish this project. Just have some of the back wall and floor corners left, and I should be set! At least for a beginner home studio. Hehe. I believe it is a fair price for what you're getting. But again, I am no expert. I might have to order a couple more of these, in different colors. I guess only time will tell. I am pleased, though :) ... show more

  • Accurate measurements but acoustic value is questionable
Pros: - expanded to full size easily & quickly - only slight chemical smell; should dissipate quickly - dimensions accurate Cons: - is it actually acoustic foam or just packing foam? TL;DR - it's foam. I suspect it's just regular foam. It feels like regular foam; different from the high quality, high density acoustic foam products I've seen. If you're on a really tight budget & just want to cut down on echo, this would work. But if you're working on a serious or even-semi-serious project (as I am), this isn't where I'd put my money. I'm not an acoustics expert. I've been putting together a recording room in my basement and over the course of the project, I've tried a lot of products and done a lot of research. That makes me... not an expert. Placement and the type of acoustic products needed will depend greatly on your goals, the size of your space and other characteristics (construction, shape, windows, doors, external factors, etc). My recording room is small & rectangular with a garden-level window and one door and near the utility closet. I'm recording video tutorials and my son is doing voiceover work. No musical instruments, no big speakers, etc. My main focus is reducing echo & reverb with a desire to deaden sound greatly but not necessarily completely, at least not in the whole room. To that end, I've ordered and experimented with all sorts of acoustic treatment products: foam, art panels, 3d panels, fiber panels, bass traps, large thick fabric covered panels, sound clouds, wooden diffusers, wood & felt panels, etc. In terms specifically of acoustic foam, I've ordered 1" sawtooth foam, 2" sawtooth foam, foam bass traps, and 2" eggcrate foam. And an eggshell foam mic isolation shield. The issue with most of these foam products is that they're just regular foam. And not all foam is created equal. This particular large sheet of eggcrate foam is lightweight and, in my opinion, not any different than packing foam. And packing foam is not acoustic foam. Is it better than nothing? Almost certainly. If you have a completely empty room with lots of echo and you were to put this stuff on all the walls and ceiling, it would definitely cut down on the echo. But that doesn't make it truly "acoustic foam." I'll keep this foam but I won't be ordering any more. I debated between giving this product 3 or 4 stars. I don't have any tools or hard proof to back up my suspicions of its questionable acoustic properties. And they don't make any "sound proofing" claims. So there was a legit argument for 4 stars. But it also seems expensive for what you get - a single sheet - so in the end I knocked off another star. I'll update if anything changes my mind. ... show more
