This aquarium is very nice for my betta fish and there is a lot of room in this 6 gallon tank for his toys and to swim around in. One change that I made was to remove the filter that came with the tank and put in an AQUANEAT Sponge Filter because they are the best and safest way to filter without hurting the fish. With that, you won't have to worry about your fish getting sucked up into the filter. I did see algae build up on the gravel because the light is very bright, and I discovered that you can reach up to the round light and easily rotate it around in order to dim the light. It is so easy and helpful. I'm glad that I noticed this because now I get no algae and it is a perfect tank. ... show more

Filter does not work, tried everything but it seems its damaged or something. Looks great, easy to clean, space savy but for the price its not that nice since the filter (something basic) does not work.

Of note- 1. Actually holds about 6-6.5 gallons FWIW 2. there is a large sticker on the lid with the brand name and model number, which is very unattractive. I was able to remove it, but the surface underneath isn't so great. 3. The on/off switch for the overhead light is close to the plug near the 'bottom' of the cord. It would be more convenient, at least for me, if I was closer to the tank because I like to turn it off at night and have to bend and contort to reach it. ... show more

Very pretty. Plenty of room for my snails and little crab. Beware, the instructions are VERY difficult to understand. But once the tank is set up, it's quiet and bubbly near the top and has lots of room.

    • Wrong size filter fittings = dead fish
Price was super high on this tank, PetSmart had same size tank starter kits that included pretty much all the basics required for fish care startup for a fair amount less than I paid for this one. The tank was also packaged with a piece that didn't fit to cover the suction tube for the water filter to prevent fish and tank decor or whatnot from being sucked in and two fish ended up being pulled partly into the tube and were not able to free themselves and my daughter came home from school to find one of her little fish partly in the tube and all the way dead on two different occasions. But the opening at the top of the tank is decent size for when you have to get fish out of the tank to clean it. The filter also works well and keeps the water clean. The LED lights are nicely placed and makes for a cool night light and makes it so the tank sort of adds to the ambiance of the room. ... show more

The reason I gave as many as 2 stars for this aquarium is because the tank itself is very cute and the perfect size. I have had aquariums most of my life so have set up many.This one is just for my molly's to give birth. However the filtration system is impossible to set up. I even went online for a video...cant get it set up. Resorted to ordering a pump and filtration system, so don't think you're actually saving money to get running. ... show more
