Description

The 3M Aqua-Pure Whole House Sanitary Quick Change Replacement Water Filter Cartridge AP910R is the replacement cartridge for the AP902 system. This activated carbon filter reduces particulate down to 15 micronss nominal for all incoming water. The universal design allows for use on both chlorinated (municipal) and non-chlorinated (well water) systems. Aqua-Pure AP910R Whole House Replacement Filter Cartridges helps to reduce iron and particulate in up to 100,000 gallons of water, a typical year’s supply dependant on water quality, before replacement. The cartridges have a high flow rate, providing up to 20 gallons (75.7 liters) of filtered water per minute. A sanitary design minimizes spills and keeps filtration media enclosed during change-outs. Nonwoven polyester blend pleated filter media has a five- microns filtration rating. A cartridge change is recommended at one year. Manufactured by 3M Purification Inc., formerly CUNO Incorporated, the cartridge is made from CFR-21 certified materials. It can operate at temperatures from 40-100°F (4.4-37.8°C) and at water pressures from 25-125 psi (172-862 kPa). It does not require pre-activation, and has an O-ring seal type. It is 25-1/16 inches (63.7 cm) long and 4.5 in (11.4 cm) in diameter. It is for use with the Aqua-Pure AP902 Water Filter System. Systems that filter water at the point of entry into the home may be used to reduce particulate (dirt), chlorine tastes and odors, heavy metals, cysts, and other contaminants. In doing so, they help deliver more appealing drinking water, help protect plumbing and fixtures against staining and scale, and provide cleaner, clearer water. For more than a century, 3M has applied innovation and technology to improving our customers’ lives and supporting their business goals. Today the company, from its headquarters in St. Paul, Minnesota, serves industrial and commercial customers and consumers in nearly 200 countries. 3M Purification Inc. • Worth the money!
Style: Water Filtration System
I'm writing this an hour after installing the filter. We have well water that is fairly hard. Immediately after installing the filter, the smell we used to get is nearly gone. Even the hot water that used to smell quite bad sometimes is much, much better. As for rust, time will tell how well it works for that. I'll try to remember to update this review in a few months. I removed our old softener and replaced with this in hopes that I won't need a softener at all. As for assembly and installation, the necessary hardware cost me about $90 so budget that into your expenses. I used plastic valves and flexible water line in lieu of copper. Easier to work with and less expensive. UPDATE: After having the filter in place for a few weeks now, our water is still much better than before. It does not appear that it will work for rust however. After thoroughly cleaning the shower wall, rust streaks started to appear again after about a week. I'm still happy with the filter as it has improved our water but in our case, it unfortunately doesn't seem to be doing anything for rust. ... show more

  • Great product. Shipping damage resolved. Difficult installation.
Style: Water Filtration System
First, it's a great design for a whole house filter. Mine gets piped up next week. First unit ordered never arrived, as it was damaged by UPS in transit. 2nd one arrived two days later after reordered, and it had a hole in the box. Contents inside seem OK. The heavy water connector head is not packaged well, causing the issue. Notified manufacturer to review packaging design. We installed ours on a plywood backboard with stanchions for support. Tricky. Above average skills, tools and patience required. Filter set is bulky, so it needs good support. Mfgr doesn't supply mounting screws for the black metal bracket. You need two heavy duty 12 mm wood lag screws about 3/4" long. It depends on how you're doing it, but the mounting itself is a project that requires planning. We opted for a 2X 2 plywood backboard and luckily found a stud. Installing hollow wall toggles for the corners of the backboard was tricky, too. Grab some toggle bolts at your HW store. We also installed a 2X6 stanchion board with foam padding to protect bottom of unit from damage if jarred. Instructions say the filter requires a 90 deg turn to remove or install (35-40 degrees max is more accurate, def not 90 degrees. Don't break it, that's wrong. 15 mm wrench required to remove nut on top of bracket. Wrench not included. Will report results next week. See pics ... show more

  • Works for me, but:
Style: Replacement Cartridge
So, just changed my first filter (I was waiting for a pressure drop off, but I didn’t notice anything) and wanted to leave a note for people having difficulty getting the water pressure to drop (making the locking tab really hard to move). If the locking tab is hard to push to the right: 1) turn off any water recirculator pumps 2) after the water comes out of the drain, you may still have pressure in the filter. Open the upstream valve (while still having a faucet open) for a second. 3) at this point, the locking tab should move easily to the right. If so, close the upstream valve. 4) now unlock the filter. It should look as easy as on the video. If the locking tab won’t move easily, there’s still pressure in the filter. 5) watch out for some water, but it’s not much. Good luck! ... show more

  • I live in Indy and anyone that lives here knows the city water tastes horrible and is full of lime
Style: Water Filtration System
I purchased this last year and just had it installed. I live in Indy and anyone that lives here knows the city water tastes horrible and is full of lime. I now have water I can drink straight from the tap with no kind of funky taste whatsoever. My water pressure has not been inhibited at all. Some reviews said it also softened their water. It does not do that, however there is less lime film on my glasses and silverware so it does seem to filter out some lime. I did have a professional plumber do the install. That cost a little over 200 and was well worth it for the bypasses and welding that is involved with installing it correctly. ... show more

  • These truly filter and allow you to drink city water without the funkiness.
Style: Replacement Cartridge
This is the first time buying a replacement filter. The recommendations are once a year for a family of 4 or sooner. As I am single I didn't replace for almost 2 full years. They are really easy to replace and do an exceptional job of filtering the water. The original set up was installed professionally by a plumber for around 200, well worth the cost for filtered water straight from the tap. Saw after I purchased it they now have one that filters scale also, twice the cost but will try it next time around as that would be perfect for my scale heavy nasty tasting city water. ... show more

  • Made me itchy and miserable
Style: Water Filtration System
Buy with extreme caution and install right away that way if it doesn't work for you, you will be able to get your money back. It is horrible within a couple of weeks of installing it my skin was so itchy I had to have it uninstalled. Since it took a while to have it installed I missed the return window and am now out over 200 bucks. I called 3M and Amazon each said to talk to the other. Called Amazon a 2nd time and this time they were able to issue a label for return. Yea, Amazon to the rescue. ... show more

  • Very happy with this system
Style: Water Filtration System
We have a new house with a well. Started smelling the dreaded sulfur odor. Been installed for 2 weeks and it took about 30 minutes after installation of running the faucets and no more odor. Very happy with this system. Will update later to see how long before we need a replacement filter. We have 3 full bathrooms kitchen, washer, etc. ... show more

  • Just adequate....
Style: Water Filtration System
3/4 inch fittings are common in almost all house feed supply. Why on earth this is made with 1 inch connections is beyond me, sure you can easily buy fittings and reduce but for a while home filter I would expect fittings to be standard. It is adequate for what it is, no way it will work the stated time and capacity, all of these are fiber with carbon filter and then finer fiber. The activated carbon alone will be inactive after 40000 gallons. ... show more
