I love this product. It works, it makes my apartment smell cleaner and more fresh, and it makes the air feel more clean. It's incredibly quiet. Pros and Cons: Pros: - It works really well. My apartment smells much better. As a dog owner, this is a must-have. - I moved it to my kitchen after cooking some food that got smoky -- I turned it to max mode, and it cleaned up the cooking smells and smoke within minutes. It actually smelled more like cooking smells in other rooms than in my kitchen, after a few minutes in the kitchen. I wish I had more than one of these units. - Adjustable -- it has an auto-mode, silent mode, max mode - It's quiet. I can sleep with it on silent mode and sometimes auto-mode. I'm usually not able to sleep with devices that make any sound -- I have no issues with this machine. Silent mode is virtually silent. There's no 'hum' -- you only hear a quiet whisper of the air coming out of the top when it's on its lower settings. - It really senses the particles in the air. You'll notice this number go up if you bring it near the kitchen, for example. Then you'll notice the number go back down as it cleans the air - The lights adjust brightness automatically depending on the ambient lighting in the room. If your room is bright, the lights get brighter. At night / in the dark, the lights dim so they don't keep you up if you're in your room. The numbers also turn off when the lights dim. - It's lightweight -- it's very easy to pick up and move from room to room. There's handles on the side which make this easier - It has a timer mode. I haven't tried this because I keep this thing running 24/7 - It doesn't get hot -- the machine does not give off excess heat/energy when running - It doesn't smell like chemicals - The air blows out of the top of the machine -- I personally prefer this because I do not like fans blowing on me during winter. - The filters (there are two types of filters inside this unit) were very easy and quick to install Cons: - It's a little bit large, but it's easy to carry. There were no color options, and it might not be everyone's favorite aesthetic - The programmed sound it makes when you plug it in or turn it on is insanely loud. No idea what the manufacturers were thinking with this one. It's a quick annoyance, and it won't happen in the middle of the night if you've already turned it on. I wish there were a way to disable this little chime. I hate turning it on late a night because I'm worried my apartment neighbors will hear it. This isn't a dealbreaker, just definitely something that's really annoying for an otherwise nearly perfect product ... show more

My husband is a smoker and this machine saves me from smelling second hand smoke !!!!!!!!! I’ve had a different one but didn’t work like this one. It has an automatic mode so its fan works harder when detecting smoke or fumes from a candle being blown out. I would 100% but another one of these!!!

Bought two of these Bissell air purifiers during the start of Covid infections; which was three years ago. Still working like a champ. We change the filters every six months. You would not believe the dust they collect. Better on the filters then in our lungs. Believe me when I tell you we run these 24 hours a day and it makes a huge difference with the air quality it provides. Good clean air that you can feel when you breathe. Edit: two and a half years after the initial review and this thing’s still going strong. I’m honestly probably upping the rating just based off of durability. Things like this don’t tend to last this long these days. (Original review) So I bought this because I had new neighbors move in the downstairs apartment. There were two couples, and all of them were chain-smokers inside. My allergies were shot, and the smell was awful, especially in certain places. Once I got this running things definitely got better, but not great. The smell was still there, though not quite as bad and as widespread as before. My allergies were no longer a disaster, but they weren't great either. I will say that it isn't really noisy unless there's an issue. My kid burnt some biscuits in the microwave (added a digit), and without thinking, opened the microwave immediately, letting the apartment get pretty smoky. The purifier immediately went into max, measuring the ppm in the air at 999 (as high as it goes) (I do like that feature) and within thirty minutes it was back down to normal levels (typically 002) and the smell was mostly gone. It has a low-light night mode that I haven't figured out how to disable yet (lost the instructions and have been too lazy to look online. I'm sure it's simple, but pressing buttons logically didn't work.), so I've had to place it near a light source to keep it running in more than low, which is a little annoying. I've had this now for 4 months. I just bought a house, and just changed the filters, (I should have changed at least one of them sooner) so I plan on updating this eventually, but overall it works. It mostly does its job. It isn't amazing, but is solid in situations. I was torn between a 3 and a 4 because it isn't cheap, and I would expect something more impressive for the price, but I've also had a few in the $30-90 range, and they were mostly useless comparatively. ... show more

I got this air purifier for my husband to use in his insulated garage, because he smokes out there. It works really good and it seems to help a lot cutting down on the cigarette smoke. I definitely recommend it.

We needed a purifier that could handle a large kitchen/dining room and this was it. We are familiar with Bissel but not this line of products until our purchase. I was surprised how quiet it was compared to our GermGuardian (much quieter even on high). The only negative I can think of is that you need to clean the particulate sensor every two weeks. But that is easy. It definitely helps clean out any odors from cooking and looks good at the same time. Easy to use controls. Zero complaints. Would buy again and recommend. ... show more
