Tried to use it to jump start a car with a very weak (but not completely dead) battery. Followed instructions but would not boost enough for the engine to to turn over. Best it could do with multiple attempts was to spin the starter, but not fast enough for it to engage the flywheel. Gave up and used regular jumper cables with another vehicle and engine turned over immediately. And yes, the jump starter was fully charged. Update: I have been able to successfully jump start my van a few time when the battery has been too low to turn over the engine. The van has some parasitic current draining the battery and I haven't been able to find it yet, so if it sits a few days it wont start. This jump starter has enough power to get the charge back up to the point where the engine (6.0 L V8) turns over and starts. I'll try to remember to update this again after I've had more experience with it...
