  • Heavy but Easy to install
It was pretty simple to install, just got to follow the instructions and read between the lines a little bit, there's a couple steps the instructions miss but you wouldn't notice unless your read very carefully, couple missprints, and the thermostat is not wifi capable despite the instructions saying it is. The wifi thermostat is a direct replacement and it's model number is KJR-120N(X6W)/BGEF, but don't bother asking mrcool about it, they don't have a clue. It heats and cools really good and seems to be using less energy than the window unit I used all summer, build quality is solid as a rock, took very little modifications to make it fit where my old system set. Definitely worth the money. I just wish it came with a longer lineset, I had to lay it across my basement floor but it's not a big deal because it's all the way at the very back ... show more

  • Very competitive price.
All material seems to be very high quality. System was easily installed by me, with no major problems, and seems to be working exactly as described. What more can you ask for. Thank you much. Have a great day!

  • Worth it in the end; Dead PCB on condensor out of the box, but after new board it works!
This is a complicated review, but TLDR; If I had to do it over I would still buy it. I live in the PNW and the home is 2800 sq ft with an unvenitlated basement (wear the air handler lives). Routing pipes and wiring outside was a pretty straight shot. This warms and cool home just fine and gets it done for pretty cheap. The good: - 1/3 the cost of most other similar systems - Lines are pre-charged, so no A/C cert (or pro install) needed. - Dropped right in and replaced existing Trane system - Lot's of good YouTube videos of how to install - Has wifi themrostat, and remote control along with an app - If your thermostat mounting is within 25 feet, there is nothing else you need for parts except Aluminum tape and maybe thermal rated Silicone. - knowledgeable tech support and fast replacement part delivery (once you get through to them) - 10 year warranty - aux heating element add on is pretty cheap ($249 as of this writing) The Bad: - Condenser PCB was DOA. Looks like this is pretty common - Customer service took forever to get through to, and most of my time was spent proving I owned and purchased legitimately. - Efficiency rating is one of the lowest out there. - wiring for a 24v thermostat is a pain in the butt. (I gave up and used the included one, which actually isn't bad.) The documentation is so so. You get better diagram detail off of the panel itself than the book, which appears a little dated The condesor is very top heaver, so you'll want to bolt it down to a pad, and maybe even strap to house. All and all if you are balling on a budget and need Central A/C and heat, but are all electric, give this a shot. ... show more

  • Fairly easy install with good results
Took me longer to remove the old furnace than to install this unit, even with removing and reinstalling the insides for a down flow use. The air conditioning and heat pump works well, nice it only uses one circuit as the condenser feeds power to the air handler. At least so far into the 30's it heats the house well and keeps it comfortable. And in northern Florida, the air conditioning works well so far and keeps humidity to a minimum. Much cheaper than paying for an HVAC guy to come out to install a new system. ... show more

  • GREAT unit, seller & shipping
Highly recommended, a few days after I ordered I contacted the seller to see if they had a more accurate arrival date. They got back to me within in the same day. They gave me a status update so I can be on-site for arrival. Shipping company had sent it in a tractor trailer that couldn't get down to the address, the driver called me, we met on the main road & transferred it to my truck. Packaging was in pristine condition shipping company handled with care & GREAT communication on the exact date. ... show more

  • Good equipment
Not really a home owner product. A professional is needed. Good thing I am. Using in my own home for a test. So far ,so good.

  • Saves a ton of money compared to other HVAC systems
I was hesitant to purchase this cheaper unit. But I have no regrets. I was quoted 30k to install a complete HVAC system in a home I am building. The quote was ridiculous and most likely the company was trying to take advantage of me. Long story short I bought this unit did some research on duct design and built everything myself. I'm in my HVAC a total of $5500.00. as far as the Mr cool split system. It is very efficient and quite the manual is a little confusing on dip switches and the included thermostat is just to complicated. After you work the kinks out this unit is great if it last 5+ years I'll be happy. ... show more

  • Truly DIY-able
Dad and I were able to install this unit in two days, connecting to existing ductwork. Stuff you'll need that you might not think of in advance include a suitable platform for the condenser to keep it out of the snow (PT lumber, concrete, etc), everything you need to run a 30-amp 240 VAC circuit (wire, breaker, disconnect, staples, etc), provisions for condensate draining, tin snips, wrenches, a 3.5 inch hole saw, drill, battery powered screw gun, HVAC duct tape, etc. It was a great way to replace an oil furnace quickly and affordably. I wish they'd had a YouTube video covering the installation of a ducted unit start to finish. Everything I could find was about their mini-splits. The installation manual should have a QR code link to a video right on the front. The manual was pretty good though. My only issues were that I had to contact support to get the ampacity requirements of the unit (they are not in the book, nor do they have them on the Lowe's site), and that the drain elbow for the condenser was kind of hidden in the valve cover when it shipped, and I didn't find it until we'd already mounted the unit to the platform. Email support was excellent. I purchased this exact unit from another retailer, but could have had it delivered free to the worksite if I'd ordered it on Amazon. ... show more
