It took a minute to realize I had to use my fingernail to pull the slider down thus closing the case with specs inside. Using ur thumb puts pressure on the slider & then it doesn’t work, so use ur fingernail & then it works perfectly! I really like their portability. I can bring them anywhere! The specs r so light I can barely feel them on my nose. Amazing how they bend in two, & disappear into the case when u pull the slider down. They seem sturdy enuff! Very practical for short uses, like reading a menu, mail, iPad, etc. I don’t think wearing them for a long time would b comfortable. I’m vry happy with my purchase! Really handy! Not something you might choose to read a novel with but not out of the question, where these shine is going out to eat or shopping, even at work. If you dont need to wear glasses all the time and try to travel light these are the ticket. Make realy great stocking stuffers or fill in gifts. I only left three stars for scratch resistan becasue I really havent put them through a lot of abuse yet, but so far so good. I have no complaints, and Everyone I have given them to love them, they make excellent gifts. I'm at the point where it's nice to have readers available for that darn small print in dim light that I seem to encounter more and more often. The ThinOptics are the smallest and easiest to carry that I have found. One really great feature is that the lenses are ground so that there is no front or back. You just put them on and read. The case is a clever bit of kit and with very little practice you get the hang of sliding them in and out. My only gripe was the nose pieces. As received from the box, they were very, very rough--almost like sand was embedded into them. I'm sure this is to help them stay in place when you move your head, but I found it very uncomfortable to wear for more than a few seconds. I fixed this by taking a very fine sandpaper (600 grit) and lightly burnishing the nose pieces until they still held in place but did not feel like they were digging in. I haven't had them long enough to rate their scratch resistance, but at the moment I'm finding the folding, flat design excellent for EDC. ... show more

I keep my own company for the most part. Not a social media guy. So when I poke my head out of my very comfy hidey-hole for a product that isn't paying me it's an occasion. This is one of those rare occasions. They rock. From the first moment I tried them on I was hooked. I have been a fan of another brand, CliC glasses, for years now. Their claim to fame is they stay put. BUT there's the wrap-around-the-neck thing. These glasses perch on the bridge of your nose AND stay put. AND no neck thing. I have equal or better focus on text with these glasses compared to the drugstore glasses and the aforementioned CliC. I'm not an office drone. I build stuff. I'm moving all over the place. Standard issue glasses don't survive long in my world. These are different. I'm wearing them right now as I draft this. Try it. It's cheap, compact, replaceable in a day and it works. When I say compact I mean it...you can add this thing to your keychain and really not notice it much. Compare that to the entire pocket previously dedicated to the bane of our existence...the G*dD***m glasses and the case. Space problem solved for the cost of a burger combo. My only complaint is the limit of +2.5. I understand it's physics. Totally willing to endure another .1 OZ of material to get to +3.0 Cheers! (-: ... show more

These Readers are really nice. Very compact and light weight. The keychain case works extremely well and is very well engineered. Also, they are comfortable to wear and stay on your nose. I would recommend these and buy again.

PRO’s - convenience & portability. Great product conceptually- need a 2.0 version made with more durable scratch resistant lenses. CON’s * Lenses: scratch when wiped clean. I learned this the hard way in Week One of owning these. Lense plastic is much softer than regular readers. * Case: trap for dust, lint, loose change. * Fit: meh… good for short bursts of emergency reading, not for fix it projects nor reading while snacking. Don’t wear while eating soup or cereal unless you want your ThinOptics to go swimming in your bowl! Summary: These are great to have handy! I would buy again knowing to only clean under running water. Carry in a pocket without coins, guitar picks, etc. Check & clean the case occasionally. ... show more

I bought a pair of ThinOptics Keychain Case and Readers in July of 2023. I love them, they're so convenient and I always have them handy since they're with my keys. Then, towards the end of October, I noticed one of the nose pieces had broken off, which isn't a big deal for me as I only use them for very brief periods to read small print. Then in early November I noticed that they wouldn't stay clipped into the keychain case, and would easily fall out. I submitted a replacement request through the ThinOptics website and within the same day I received a response asking for the shipping details to send the replacement. I like these a-lot, they're super convenient and awesome when available right there on your keychain! I use them atleast once or twice a day when I'm out and about and they really are wonderful. I found a design flaw though, the necessary open line up the center of the keychain case (for the slider) leaves, at least one of the lenses, vulnerable to scratching. I've discovered this recently and it's definitely happened while in the case as I hadn't dropped them (yet). The center of one of the lenses has a somewhat noticeable scratch from possibly either one of my other keys or something else, I don't know. It'd be perfect if the lense was a bit more protected within the case or at-least a bit more scratch resistant. Either way, for under $20 I still think this is well worth it.
