Most important, the bees don't have to come outside the box to fan it, also, bees seem to do much better, my guess working more inside than fanning outside the box. Not sure longevity, the wood is warped right out of the box. The metal try is nice and the reason I decided to purchase. The entrance reducer isn't tight fitting.
