Having once kept close to 100 hives, then retired, the wife wanted her honey again. So I bought two of these for some new package bees, and was pleased overall with the quality for the price. The frames were not milled as nicely as those purchased in the past, but will work just fine. The foundation is well coated with wax and the bees took right to them. The only real negative is the queen excluder, which appear to be rectangular die-cut holes, rather than molded oval holes. The sharp edges look like they will tend to damage the wings of the worker bees, so I replaced them. But that isn't enough to detract from the value of the product overall. ... show more

I usually buy from Dadant but this year my package of bees was arriving sooner than I thought and my Dadant order wasn't going to arrive soon enough. I frantically ordered this one and it was shipped within a day. I am very happy with the assembly. Much easier to assemble than my hive I got last year from Dadant and I only bent one nail while putting the frames together! I love that its all already coated with beeswax. It feels very sturdy. I am hopeful that it will hold up well in the elements. ... show more
