This gadget is absolutely fantastic! It worked perfectly right out of the box and I couldn't be happier with it. Seriously, I'm already thinking about getting another one for a friend. You won't be disappointed, trust me!

  • Big IImprovement Over The Previous Model
I'd say 4.5 stars. Not 5 stars. If you are familiar with the ScanGuage II, this displays more info. It is worth the money to upgrade. I have been a fan of my ScanGuage II for years. I bought it many years back, when taking a trip out west through the mountains pulling a camping trailer. I wanted to monitor my transmission temperature. Over the years, I have used it to pull check engine light DTC codes and fix things. This new one has different screen displays for the info depending on what you are wanting it to display. It can dispaly more guages on the screen. The ScanGuage II gives you the fault code. You had to look up what it was. This gives what the code means, no need to look up. Other improvements. Color display. The ability to track your day's driving, not just from the last time the engine was turned on. X guages are easier. It is a bit larger than the II. Not bad, smaller than the old GPS's. Overall I like it. I would buy again. So why 4.5 stars? Getting at, and clearing the codes, is a little harder than the older II. Not bad. It seems as if I have to take an extra step. The old ScanGuage II, had plugs for the cable on the back and the side. This only has the back plug. So you can't mount it flat on the dash. The communication cable has strain relief on it. I like that, but it makess it stick out pretty far behind the guage. It makes the cable a little difficult to string when doing a permanent mount. I fixed this by getting set of very short M/F - RJ45 extension cables with built in 90s on the male end. The set of cables have one in each 90 degeee direction. They sell a set of M/F 90 degree adapter fittings too. These work, but stick out a shade more than the extension cables, maybe a quarter inch or so more. There have been no issues communicating with either type adapter. ScanGuage, if you are checking reviews for suggestions, please bring back a side or bottom input plug. Consider a software update customers could download that would allow you to set the orentation of the screens so the guage could be mounted portrait or landscape. Consider including a RJ45 90 degee adapter. They make one that swivels 360 degrees so you can set it in the direction you want the cable to go. ... show more

  • A worthy successor to the ScanGauge II
I love the ScanGauge 3, it addresses the things I wanted to see improved over the SG2. I use this in my RAV4, primarily to provide individual TPMS readings (pressure and temperature), which are not shown in the RAV4 Info screen (except pressure one lower trim level) The SG2 can do it if you work at it, and the SG3 does it easily, and you can set up a screen to show all that data on one page. Pros: *Can be set for several pages of up to 9 meters each. *Unlimited colors for customization, the basic display is bright text on the dark background which I much prefer to the SG2's "dark text on light background" which annoying at night. *Automatic scanning of auto-specific (XGauge) data. *WiFi allows future firmware updates. *Upgrading from a SG2 to an SG3 is painless. Cons: *Cannot read fuel gauge data, it calculates it based on consumption. I would prefer a "smart mode" that could start from the reported gas gauge level, and build a calibration table over a few calibrated tanks of gas to arrive at a more accurate result that didn't have to be "coddled" by the driver every fillup. *The mounting system is poor. The display should have a magnet built-in, and an adjustable adhesive magnetic pad for the dash should be included. The big honking suction cup is a non-starter for me. ... show more

  • Works great. Ugly AF
Bought this to replace my aging scangauge 2. Works great. Extremely easy to set up. Touch screen function is nice. Screen is easy to read. The design reminds me of circa early 2000s LCD monitors shrunken down. It's so big, thick, and with massive borders 😂 come on scangauge.. it's 2025 there is no reason we couldn't make it a bit more sleek. 4 stars. Functionality is great. Design is quite dated considering this is an "update" I mean, it's an updated design compared to the scangauge 2.. but that's like comparing a pager to an iPhone 3. At least there is Wi-Fi updates? ... show more

  • Perfect for RV and Overlanding engine monitoring
When you're traveling long distances or traversing a remote BDR knowing how your vehicle is performing is both security and helpful in identifying issues that are both transient or a slow degradation process. Being able to monitor 27 selected sensors and set 6 warning levels gives one that ability. The sensor scan didn't find all the sensors present on my Sprinter, but there is the option to manually add them. I don't know of a better unit in the accessory marketplace. ... show more

  • Great unit
I never leave reviews, felt this product deserved one. It's solid, very user friendly, accurate and responsive it offers all the standard parameters/info you would expect and then some. Next the x gauge aspect offers even more, depends on your vehicles manufacturers measured parameters. 3 different screens to tweak and setup how you like. The window mount is the best I have ever witnessed w a stong magnet. Long story short it's like a constant customizable scan tool / gauge. 😆. Anyways, only disappointment I have is that my scan tool shows transmission tourqe converter temp and pan temp. And the scan gauge 3 only displays pan temp;however, it's my understanding if I contact the company they may be able to get that option turned on. Fingers crossed!! So no regrets here fellas!! It's a no nonsense set up. ... show more
