  • Big IImprovement Over The Previous Model
I'd say 4.5 stars. Not 5 stars. If you are familiar with the ScanGuage II, this displays more info. It is worth the money to upgrade. I have been a fan of my ScanGuage II for years. I bought it many years back, when taking a trip out west through the mountains pulling a camping trailer. I wanted to monitor my transmission temperature. Over the years, I have used it to pull check engine light DTC codes and fix things. This new one has different screen displays for the info depending on what you are wanting it to display. It can dispaly more guages on the screen. The ScanGuage II gives you the fault code. You had to look up what it was. This gives what the code means, no need to look up. Other improvements. Color display. The ability to track your day's driving, not just from the last time the engine was turned on. X guages are easier. It is a bit larger than the II. Not bad, smaller than the old GPS's. Overall I like it. I would buy again. So why 4.5 stars? Getting at, and clearing the codes, is a little harder than the older II. Not bad. It seems as if I have to take an extra step. The old ScanGuage II, had plugs for the cable on the back and the side. This only has the back plug. So you can't mount it flat on the dash. The communication cable has strain relief on it. I like that, but it makess it stick out pretty far behind the guage. It makes the cable a little difficult to string when doing a permanent mount. I fixed this by getting set of very short M/F - RJ45 extension cables with built in 90s on the male end. The set of cables have one in each 90 degeee direction. They sell a set of M/F 90 degree adapter fittings too. These work, but stick out a shade more than the extension cables, maybe a quarter inch or so more. There have been no issues communicating with either type adapter. ScanGuage, if you are checking reviews for suggestions, please bring back a side or bottom input plug. Consider a software update customers could download that would allow you to set the orentation of the screens so the guage could be mounted portrait or landscape. Consider including a RJ45 90 degee adapter. They make one that swivels 360 degrees so you can set it in the direction you want the cable to go. ... show more

  • A must purchase item if you Drive a workhorse chassis RV.
Purchased this at the recommendation from an RV youtuber (Kevin Caudill). He has an in-depth video on his channel about this product. Workhorse disabled many monitoring features and this very much helps you monitor so many items in real time as you drive. I've had this item for over a year & still have not used all its features. The price is worth the peace of mind you get in return. You can view 9 items per tab & have 3 tabs in total. You are able custom set alarms for various things to temps, pressure, rich, lean levels etc. Custom set what you want to monitor. ... show more

  • Perfect for RV and Overlanding engine monitoring
When you're traveling long distances or traversing a remote BDR knowing how your vehicle is performing is both security and helpful in identifying issues that are both transient or a slow degradation process. Being able to monitor 27 selected sensors and set 6 warning levels gives one that ability. The sensor scan didn't find all the sensors present on my Sprinter, but there is the option to manually add them. I don't know of a better unit in the accessory marketplace. ... show more

  • Some improvements, some disappointments
I've been a huge fan of the Scangauge II over the years - I have one in each of my cars. This new Scangauge 3 lets me see 9 engine measurements (rather than only 4 provided by the old Scangauge II on its little screen), including some new electric- and hybrid-car focused features. This is great! But there are a few disappointments: • The active LED screen, while nice and bright in the sunlight, is too bright for night driving. Yes, the screen can easily be dimmed by sliding two fingers simultaneously downward on the touchscreen. I wish it was automatic. I miss the automatic all-brightness usability of the backlit passive LED screen on the old Scanguage II, which was plenty readable in sunlight, but had a soothing always-on backlight that was just right for night viewing. The old display needed no manual adjustment. • The new Scangauge III goes dead (blank screen) once every 20 drives or so. I need to reach around and unplug it, and plug it back in again. Annoying. • Some numeric values show way to many digits! The excessive numeric precision makes the values to read at a glance. See my photo. The HEV Battery Power in my photo, for example, shows "-26418.00" watts. I would prefer it to just say "-26" kW"! I don't need all those extra digits!!! So, overall, it's pretty good. There are some improvements over the Scangauge II, and some annoying aspects. But I will still continue using it. ... show more

  • So Much Information!
There is so much information on this display, it's hard to choose what information I want to use. I bought it specifically for the transmission temp on my 2022 Chevy Traverse LT AWD and pulling a trailer without the factory towing enhancements.

  • Awesome product!
Scan gauge has nailed it! Not only can I see critical pressures and temperatures in my 2012 MINI Cooper S, but you can also set warnings. For example. You can set up the Scan Gauge to warn you if your voltage or oil pressure drops too low, or if your coolant temperature gets too high. For more advance users, you can see other engine operating parameters like fuel trim, inlet air temp, boost pressure, but keep in mind, it can only display what is available via the vehicles OBDII port. Scan Gauge technical support is top notch, and if there's every a problem, the are quick to offer a full refund. ... show more

  • Works great for the basics
Works great for my 1998 land rover discovery, it's very accurate with its temperature gauge, rpm, instant mpg, works as it should as a code reader. would buy again

  • Worth it!
Installation is super easy, just 10 minutes and it’s all set to go. GUI interaction is simply and easy to switch between 3 preset screens but I would prefer if the button is slightly larger. Build quality is solid and the mount is sturdy even during bumpy ride! Even though the price is slightly on the high side but it’s all worth it! ... show more
