remarrda 2K WiFi Camera, Night Vision, 6 IR LEDs Indoor Security Cameras for Elder/Baby/Dog/Pet, Camera with App 3-day Cloud Storage, 24/7 SD Card Storage, AI Motion Detection, 2-Way Audio The security camera comes packaged in a retail-marked box with photos of the product and manufacturer's data on the sides. Inside the box, is the camera itself, a wall adapter, a long USB, A to USBC power cable, a mounting sticker, and screws with anchors , along with a quick start guide. Looking at the instructions, they note that you can set it on the shelf or mount it with the included 3M tape, as well as screwing it to the wall with the included screws and anchors. Looking at the camera itself, it's quite small , and the base is movable. In the base there is a metal panel which you can leave in to add weight to it to stand it up on a shelf, as it has four small rubber feet built into it. The metal plate on the bottom pops off, so you can use it to stick to the shelf or mounting area with the included 3M tape, or screw it down with the included anchors. The back of the camera has a speaker grill and the socket for the USBC power plug. The front of the camera has an indicator/status light with the lens mounted in the middle and a tiny hole for the microphone. As the camera is facing you, on the right-hand side, there is a slot for an SD card, if you would like to add memory capacity to your camera. Please note, the camera does not come with a memory card, but I suggest that you purchase one separately. That way the camera can "remember" a certain number of hours of videos security, depending on the size of your card. After you have completed the physical location for your camera, you'll need to install an app on your phone. The instructions give you a QR code to download the app but doesn't give you the name of the app for some reason. Scanning the QR code with my phone reveals that it is a web page at vicohome that forwards you automatically to the Google Play store for the ‘VICO home security app’. After downloading and installing the app to your phone, you'll have to complete registration in the app before using it. This part of the camera installation I do not agree with. They force you to register the camera as well as your name, and email address, which also reveals the camera serial number to the manufacturer. You can not use the camera without registration, period. With today's times of heightened security and proclivity of hackers, I don't like giving that much information to anyone, much less a manufacturer that has a possibility of being hacked. Once you have completed the registration with the app, you merely connect the camera to a power outlet and wait for the indicator light to quickly flash blue. This lets you know that the camera is ready to be paired with the app on your phone. Then you just merely click the add device in the app and find the camera to your network. I took some time to use this security camera to see how well it worked over time in different circumstances, as well as how it compared to another indoor-only security camera I own. The first thing I noticed is how small and lightweight this camera is. It comes with a mounting plate and screws, but I just wanted to just place it on a desk. It’s so lightweight that it was a little tricky getting it to stay in place once plugged in. The cord kept pulling it out of the desired position. This camera is so small that it can easily be placed where it won’t be very visible. I see that as a plus. The setup was easy following the prompts. You do have to install an app, of course, which is called VicoHome. I am using the camera as a babycam, so it’s used in a dark room. When I tested it out, I was amazed at the quality, which is much better than my other 2K cam. The picture is fantastic, whether in light or dark environments. The camera picks up movement extremely well as compared to my other camera, which wouldn’t always pick up movement even though I was directly in front of it. You can use an SD card for local recordings or the free cloud service, which gives you about 500 MBs of storage for 3 days. They also offer three plans that provide the same features but different storage limits. The plan fees are reasonably priced. I signed up for the free 30-day trial of the Plus plan, and the notifications worked great! I also installed an SD card to test the local storage option. There was a slight glitch after first inserting the card, but then it recognized it, and I could format it. It records just fine. It wasn’t until later, when reading an FAQ, that the camera “only supports legitimate brand-name (SanDisk, Samsung, Kingston) Micro-SD cards, but may not be able to support non-brand-name, fake,…cards.” I used a non-brand-name card, and it is working fine so far. This camera works great. I got it as my current one broke and I was looking for a replacement. I like to have a camera facing the door so that you can capture who is coming into your house. My apartment complex does not allow ring cameras so I have to have one inside. :/ This camera is so lightweight that after I plugged it in, the wire kept on moving it. lol So I just used a little bit of double sided tape to keep it in place. If you have cats, they see something new and they must put their scent all over it. So without the double sided tape, it would have been knocked over multiple times. BUT that is not the fault of the camera. . .I blame it on my furbabies! lol It captures everything well and I like the clarity of video that it takes. It comes with a mount so that if you needed to, you can put it up on a wall but all I needed it was on my shelf facing the door. So it works perfectly for me and does exactly what I wanted. ... show more
