  • Very happy with this splitter, details and some tips
Size: 25-Ton
The media could not be loaded. First off, this saved me about $500 over buying one already assembled, and it works great. I made some mistakes though, and my advice is to have the assembly video with you and pause it at each step. It's on YouTube, and I didn't have internet where I was doing the assembly, but I could have taken screenshots so I could look at them on my laptop. The hardware packaging is very well done, the nuts, bolts, and washers are in a kind of blister pack, you can see the parts all separated, all labeled with their specs and a number. The backside is like card stock, also all labeled and perforated so you can open it with your thumbnail. The manual diagrams show numbers for the hardware, like #37, so you can locate the correct washer or whatever. But the video is a lot better for understanding how it goes together, being high resolution and color. For example, the diagram showed the cover on the pump drive being on the side, so I assembled it that way, but it's actually on the bottom, so I had to redo that. I'm embarrassed by the mistakes I made in the assembly process, but I corrected them and got 'er done. One problem that wasn't my fault was removing the caps on the hydraulic lines. The video shows residual hydraulic oil from their testing draining out, so I expected that and was going to drain it into the tank. Removing the caps takes a giant flat blade screwdriver, which I happened to have, but it was really tight and took some effort. As it was almost off, it blew off and sprayed hydraulic oil all over my shirt etc. Apparently the testing left air under pressure in the hydraulic hoses. I worked the valve lever back and forth and there was also pressure in the other hose that was relieved. But the lever stays in the reverse position until the ram is fully retracted and pressure builds, then it kicks the lever into neutral. So later, when I tried to start the engine, it became very hard to pull the starter. I figured that out, and the engine started very easily. I split a small amount of gnarly eucalyptus wood I had been given as a first test, and it worked great. The blade has two parts, a very sharp part like an axe blade, and wings that force the wood apart once the blade initiates the splitting. It works great, it's sharp enough to slice thru knots, then the wings force the wood apart. Another important feature is the two stage hydraulic pump. The first stage has long gears that pump more volume, but lug the engine when the going gets tough. Then it switches to the shorter, low volume but high pressure gears. You can hear a change in the engine load, and the ram moves slower, but with more power. Nothing I tried to split could resist that! Be sure you keep the bark, splinters, wood chips etc cleaned off the beam, there are holes, but stuff gets caught and the ram compressed it all into a very hard material. I saw a damaged splitter, and wondered how it happened, pretty sure they didn't clean the debris off the beam so it broke the flanges that guide the blade. My wife helped me with the splitting, it was amazing how fast we got a trailer load split with her help. She took the video, and you'll see half a round falling off because she wasn't helping, in the actual process she was grabbing those, feeding them back to me, and throwing the split pieces into the trailer which was just behind her. She's low maintenance, high performance, the sweet spot for wives! The photos show the four boxes it comes in, each labeled with the contents. Three of them came a day before the earliest time scheduled, the next arrived a day later. Being in boxes made it easier to trailer to where I needed it and assembled it. The next picture shows the wood my wife and I split in about half an hour, the splitter in the background. The video shows splitting a large round, either fir or pine. I stuffed bits of tissue into my ears for noise protection. ... show more

  • So far, so great!
Size: 30-Ton
Very sturdy log splitter and great customer service regarding delivery. Comes in pieces in large crate weighing about 600- 700 lbs. The delivery driver was very gracious in using the hand forklift (I think that’s what it’s called) to move the crate to a convenient area. Out of a scale of 1-10, with 10 being easy and 1 being difficult, putting it together was a 5 if you are not mechanically inclined and a 7 if you are. Our last log splitter (about 20 years old) broke three years ago and we’ve been spending $1,000 every winter to buy wood, so this will pay for itself fairly soon. I did purchase the 3 year warranty, but it’s so sturdy and well built, I don’t know if I even need it. Haven’t used the vertical option yet, but the horizontal works great! And, everyone who has reviewed this is right- it started right up on the first try. Took about an hour to split about 3/4 cord of oak. Much faster cycle time than the old splitter we had. ... show more

  • Amazing Log Splitter!!
Size: 25-Ton
Never thought I could buy a log splitter off of Amazon! That said it came in 4 boxes 1 box was a bit beat up but didn't affect anything. The instructions were Clear and easy, My son and I assembled it in just under 1 1/2 hours. All the tools needed to assemble it were included in the packaging however I recommend your own tools for easier faster assembly I used my own. The bearings for the wheels didn't have enough bearing grease for my liking so I added and replaced the bearings however you can install them right out of package if ur not picky like me. it also came with Hydraulic fluid and engine oil. Which I didn't know. So No need to buy any to use just the Gas to run it. After it was assembled, it started right up 1st pull. I split a cord of wood with it right away that was seasoned, I also had a tree come down during Hurricane Helene, i cut it up and it split the red oak with ease, I couldn't find anything it wouldn't split I put a 22inch wide X 18inch thru it and it barely hesitated, Red Oak is very stringy wood but it did so without issue, the only thing I noticed about the Ram was it doesnt go all the way out to almost contact the back plate, I had to put a piece of 4X4 to split all the way thru the difficult stuff. For a 25ton ram. It did amazing; the noise level isn't too bad, and it's actually really easy to pull around by hand and light enough if u don't want to constantly hook it up to move it. It's pretty compact and doesn't take a lot of room to store, I had a choice between this one of a 7 Ton for about the same money, this was only a few hundred more but well worth it considering you can tow it unlike the others I looked at. If your looking for a great Log splitter this is it!! The shipping was very fast I got it in 2 days. They ship from Atlanta, Georgia. I live in South Carolina. Easy assembly, lightweight, durable you can't ask for more than that. I believe this will last s long time and split alot of wood! Don't hesitate it's worth it! If your looking ... show more

  • Easy to assemble, works all day.
Size: 25-Ton
This is a well built tough as nails log splitter. Splits vertical or horizontal with plenty of power. Took me 2 hours to build by myself. Easy for me to move around on my own even though it weights 400 pounds. I had 3 big red oaks taken down on my property and it made mince meat out of all of it. You could start a smell firewood business with this beast as I sold 6 small truck loads to my neighbors with the extra wood. This machine made it easy. ... show more

  • Good product/ Terrible support
Size: 25-Ton
Well built and runs great. Had a minor issue with support and getting a replacement filter, but once I got to the source, they responded quickly.

  • Sturdy, attentive seller, works great.
Size: 30-Ton
This arrived exactly on time, with several notes from the seller to smooth the way - there were no wrinkles. Liftgate delivery was perfect. It all went together easily enough, but be aware this thing (30 ton splitter) is built like a battleship and at 500llbs is heavy. Started on the first pull and is easy to use. It hasn't broken a sweat on any I have thrown at it. An easy 5 stars. ... show more
