Oh these were so cute to put into Halloween boo bags! These pens are a nice size, can tuck into a gift or be put in a pocket - or purse pocket. They have a little light on them that worked fine when clicked, and the invisible ink end is thicker, like a little marker. I am sure they will be enjoyed, so glad I got them.

Ordered 32 pens, received 32 total, but 2 didn't work at all, and 6 barely worked, so got 24 actual working pens. Order extra if you actually need the full amount. Wanted for classroom giveaways in lieu of candy, but a few short now. The new models are much more user friendly with an on/off switch that stays on as opposed to having to hold the button down continuously. They come bulk packed, and not individually wrapped. It does not appear that batteries can be replaced, either, so once it quits working, it's a throwaway, just fyi. Wouldn't be a horrible deal if all pens worked, though. Kids just love these things!

The manufacturer of these did indeed make BOTH MODELS so the batteries can be replace. The plastic parts are actually made to come apart (not fused together). So, in the spirt of keeping these out of the landfill for a while longer, I'm offering these instructions and step-by-step pictures showing both models. The LR-41 batteries can be purchased cheaply in big packs on Amazon, so that also makes it cost effective to do this. - On the push button model, the only trick is first prying/pulling off the cap (it's only pressure fit over some inner rings). I used my fingernail to wedge up one side then pull off. - On the switch model, you have to pry the white switch off First, then you can pull out the LED-battery white capsule form the end. The only other thing to note is the battery position...the models are different...see pictures - On the push button model, the flat/positive side of the batteries all face the metal switch-clip. - On the switch model, the "button"/negative side of the batteries all face the metal switch clip. Anyway, for what it's worth these are restorable when the batteries die ! Have fun!

These were awesome pens! I used them for a 4th grade Valentine’s Party Scavenger Hunt at school. I split the class into teams and gave each team an envelope. Each child on the team needed to use the light to decipher their part, then the team worked together to unscramble the pieces to discover the clue location. Once they completed their clue, they knew where to go in the classroom to get the hot pink clue piece. For example, “My color is chrome and they call me a book. #19” (clue was hidden in Chromebook #19) and “This clue had a bright idea to sit under a chair” (clue was taped under one students chair) so that sent a team looking under every chair! “I’m dry but I erase. I get bored when I’m not on the board” (dry erase marker) ...this was the hardest for kids to solve. I hid another clue taped under the paper towel dispenser, taped under the book nook lamp shade and inside a spined book in book nook. Next, team captains shared their findings with the class and I had the February birthday kids use those hot pink clues to do a final unscramble and tape it on the board for all to see “What did one light bulb say to the other? I love you a whole watt!” ....kids love scavenger hunts - this was super fun, very creative took maybe idk 15 mins. kids are so smart and this encouraged treat building and gave an opportunity to have one team captain. I let the kids keep their pens as a prize. Get creative and make your kids a scavenger hunt; volunteer at church, at school or for your kids in your neighborhood :))))) ...wouldn’t kids love to get a note in their school lunch written in invisible ink?
