    • Closest thing to pool automation is complete/ except for the Seauto!
At our place not only am I the pool guy but also the auto mechanic, plumber, electrician, carpenter, painter etc...... The less time I spend on pool maintenance the more time I can enjoy the pool so I am always looking to make my life a little easier. I am constantly battling pine tree pollen, pine cone pods. pine needles, italian cypress debris, privet tree debris etc...... Our pool is a 20,000 + gallon salt water pool with a "Water guru" pool chemical monitor, "Remington" solar chlorine generator, "Beta SE" solar pool skimmer, and just added "Seauto" cordless pool vacuum. I love this vac. It completes the closest thing I can come up with to have a fully automated pool. The Water Guru tells me when chemicals are required, the Remington boosts the coloring levels, but since I have salt water there is no heavy chlorine side effects. The Beta Se picks up debris and pollen before it gets to the filter. I added this little guy to eliminate the side suction Kreepy krawly that is just not up to standards. I unplug the seauto and drop it in and it goes nuts. The family freaks out because it crawls up the walls and cleans the water line so it looks like it is trying to get out of the pool. No more green pollen on the tile at the water line. When it is done I just pull it out of the pool and clean up is easy I get to enjoy the pool and spend less time maintaining it. Update. After reading a lot of reviews about how quickly this pool cleaner died, I felt pretty good until I didn't. A few months ago the Seauto started doing some odd things. It stopped cleaning after a few minutes, yet when I pulled it out of the pool it started up again and jumped back into the pool. Then, just under the year mark it completely died. Tried to charge the battery and no lights, to talking, just an anchor. I pulled the battery out and there was a bit of water and debris in the battery compartment. I dried everything out and let the bot dry out for a few days. Put everything back together again but still had a dead pool cleaner. I reached out to Seauto customer service about trouble shooting and never received any return communications. I did some diagnostics on the battery and the AC/DC adapter ,and, both tested as they are functioning properly. That leaves me to believe the control board failed. I will be pulling it apart and looking to see if the seal is inadequate for this product. For the price paid for this I, would expect a product that lasts longer than 40 charges in just under a year. ... show more

    • I'm in LOVE with this Robot!! If it were a man, I would marry him! LOL!!!
So far, only in our first week, I absolutely love this robot pool vacuum! It has worked perfectly everytime. I really like that it comes to the surface & scrubs the water line where algae forms in my pool. I'm praying this continues to work well because I dread the thought of returning to my hose vacuum which caused me so many problems!!! Please robot gods, keep this Crab working đź’Ş đź‘Ť!!!! Note: it's not too heavy to remove from the pool & carry to the covered patio where I can charge it. The filter basket is relatively easy to wash out with a hose & cleans up looking brand new! I absolutely adore my Crab so far!! It's on a super good deal now, only a few days after I bought it! I wish I could get the difference refunded, but that has nothing to do with it's functionality. Update 7/1/24 - Still going strong! I am absolutely in love with this robot! My friend & I honored him with the name Sebastian (from The Little Mermaid) this weekend, as he is ever so helpful to me & my pool! A special note, over the weekend a family of Sonoran Toads decided to lay eggs in my pool! I was so distraught as to how to get the toads & thousands of eggs out quickly! The Fire Department came out to get the toads & were so helpful in figuring what to do. I didn't want to contaminate my new Sebastian but they convinced me that the best & fastest way to remove them would be to allow Sebastian to vacuum them up. The Fire Fighter put pieces of chlorine in the Crab filter basket to instantly kill the eggs as they were suctioned up. This worked like a charm & within an hour my pool was toad & egg-free!! It took a bit of doing to get the filter basket cleaned out, but now it's as pristine as when I took it out of the box! I am SO ECSTATIC with my Sebastian, I could marry him! LOL!!! ... show more

2nd Update and unfortunately 1 week after use 1 of 2 robots stopped working. No lights, no power, not charging. Attempted several calls to number listed for support and none were answered. Sent email and none was answered. This is turning out to be an expensive experiment and a hassle to return - just waiting for the second robot to stop. In addition, Amazon is taking forever to issue a refund - I now had to contact them 4 times and still have not refunded. My advice is stay away from this item altogether at this point. ============================================================================== I am updating this review and actually purchased a second one while the price was discounted - Pros: -no assembly required - take off wraps, charge it, download app, and stick it in your pool -the app actually works very well and you'll get a much, much longer battery life when you do BOTTOM/FLOOR only - STANDARD work mode shortens life by about 40-50% by my estimates after using it for a week -it will take a few uses, but eventually it learns the dimensions and topography of your pool and it's amazing how it navigates it -handles stairs very well and doesn't get stuck ANYWHERE, or blow out water all over my deck unlike my previous POLARIS -the basket has a fine mesh and will trap a surprising amount of small particulates which is excellent -all the soft rubber components make me comfortable that it will not damage my liner if it brushes too hard as it sometimes does on some of the walls -will save you lots of energy/electricity during summer if you previously used a booster pump - mine finally burned out and when I did a price comparison to replace I decided this was the better deal both on the initial cost and electricity consumption even when I bought the second one Cons: - Hard to say how long this will last -Can't seem to find any replacement parts on Amazon therefore I bought a second one -The charging unit, although sturdy, is not WEATHER PROOF - that is bad engineering on a pool cleaner that's meant to stay outside - don't leave it uncovered in the rain or under sprinklers because you will have the unpleasant surprise that it will short - replacement parts (as I mentioned) don't appear to be readily available -Manufacturer/vendor not easy to communicate with and this particular unit comes under a few different names and branding ... show more

I have been debating on getting a robotic pool vacuum for so long now….and I could just kick myself for it! We read hundreds of reviews before deciding on the Seauto Crab, both for its wall scrubbing features and the price point. (We weren’t quite ready to drop $1000 on one just yet!) Shipping- This took a little longer than expected. My initial package was delayed twice before it “disappeared.” Fortunately, Amazon made it right and sent a replacement quickly. Unboxing- The vacuum was packed and protected extremely well! It was in a box inside 2 other boxes. It took two of us to get it out without just flipping it, but it wasn’t awful. Everything was very well packaged. Set-up- This was the most simple set up of any gadget we’ve ever gotten. I charged it first thing out of the box and it was ready to go in less than an hour. After assembling the baskets, it’s an easy as pressing a start button and dropping the device in the pool. Our vacuum ran for almost 3 hours before the battery died. A recharge takes less than 2 hours. Performance- Wow. This vacuum not only scrubbed the walls, it picked up particles as fine as hair and sand. There were some very tiny toys that had fallen in our pool that I didn’t even know were there- and it picked them up too! Post Performance- A nice hook is provided, that fits on any pool pole, for pulling the vacuum out of the water. To extend the life of my vacuum, every time I run it, I take it apart and clean it with clean water to prevent damage from chemicals. It takes less than 5 minutes to clean completely. The “App”- I never could get it to work. The device never would link up to it. So for the app- I say don’t bother. Some have been upset that you can’t change the functions without the app, but for me it doesn’t matter. There won’t be a time I don’t want it to clean my whole pool, so I’m fine to leave it set as it came. Overall, we are extremely happy. We love our new Robot, which we all affectionately call “Ralphie.” ... show more

    • No customer support. Lasted 1 year.
UPDATE: used 1 year from May to May. Messaged seller because it stopped responding. It doesn’t light up, doesn’t charge, nothing. Stopped all at once just after starting a cycle. Seller doesn’t respond. Lousy support and is junk. Don’t waste your money. This thing takes off and gets up ahead of steam and then lifts itself up off the bottom of the pool and has to stop and start again. It does this over and over. There is an app where you can control whether it does the walls and floor or just the floor. I always said it to just the floor. I don’t need it doing the walls. However, out of the three pool crawlers I have, this is the only one that will not stay on the bottom. I mean, it randomly lifts up off the bottom of the pool and starts floating up and then it stops back to the bottom and does it again, what a waste of money. ... show more

    • Stopped working after a month of use.
I bought the Crab cordless robotic pool vac as a replacement to my rugged, but since retired, Polaris Pressure-side pool cleaner. The Seauto Crab started working well, cleaning walls and floor, running as advertised. It cleans well in the "all-cover" mode, and covers about 90% of my irregularly-shaped pool in about 2-2.5 hours of runtime. However, after the first month of maybe 3-4 uses per week, it began to act fairly glitchy, going into cleaning modes that I didn't command, and stopping in the middle of a cleaning with an alert LED icon to indicate it needed user intervention. Then, after just over a month of use, it stopped accepting a charge and turning on. The video attached to this review was the last time that it turned on successfully, only to shut off after a minute of use. Something is going haywire. Yes, the charging cable is fine, as are my outlets. This may be a water issue, this may be a wiring issue. But the real issue is the warranty claims process is much too long and the manufacturer is unresponsive. I submitted my first warranty claim on or about July 30th. They wrote back after a few days and asked for a video, to which I sent the attached vid proof. A few more days, and a few more emails of back and forth, they promised to send a new machine. One week later, and no tracking number, no updates, nothing. Meanwhile, my pool has become a debris-cluttered disaster that a pool net can't fix and I have to pay the pool guys to come for a service visit with their vacuum. 3 weeks of no solution is too long. 3 weeks of dangling the carrot was enough for me to go to another manufacturer and purchase another cleaning robot. Save yourself the nightmare, and stay away from Seauto. Little to no support. For what its worth, Amazon customer care is wonderful, given the circumstances. A+ for them. ... show more

The first one we bought lasted one season and died, was then replaced under warranty. The second unit has now lasted us two seasons, it does an excellent job cleaning our pool. My recommendation for long life is to wait till it’s thoroughly dried out before plugging it in to recharge.

    • Simple and ready to work right out of the box.
As recommended from a friend who had an earlier model, we got it for our pool and it’s great. After the hurricanes, our screen was torn and letting in all the tree debris. We dropped it in and after about 2-3 hours, it was literally spotless. It goes all the way up the wall to clean the tile edges and bumbles around on the bottom in somewhat of a pattern, but don’t concern yourself with that… just let it do its thing. After it’s done, it will park itself near a wall and you use the provided hook to scoop it out. Let it drain a bit because it’s heavy when full of water. We have an average size 20k gal backyard pool and the battery life is easily enough to do one twice the size. The app works, but doesn’t do a whole lot and not necessary once you do the basic setup. I haven’t needed to replace anything yet, but recommend storing it out of the sun while you charge it to prevent the plastic and rubber from rotting. I don’t notice charge time, only need to use it every couple of days so unless you have mulch surrounding your pool or an obnoxious amount of trees, once a day/night is plenty. ... show more
