Edit: I managed to get my forward collision alert working thanks to this device (reset near-crash counter and SCN codes). 10/5 stars. Absolutely buy this if you want total control over your Mercedes. I’ve been chasing a gremlin through my forward collision prevention system and every time I tried to diagnose it with my not-so-legit version of xentry, I run into a wall where it wants to go online to code the module (and can’t). So I started searching for devices that had unlimited access to special functions and coding - and this is it! Kinda hard to believe it’s so cheap for all it does. It’s slow to get started, but I’m pretty sure that’s a limitation on Mercedes’ side. But once it finds the vin and scans/identifies all the modules it’s super intuitive to use. A word of advice, make a backup of your coding before you play around or you run a real risk of bricking your car. A lot of the options are written in German so take your time, don’t be afraid to take pics of the exact path/feature you’re changing and you should be great. I’m pretty excited to see how this thing works with a few retrofits I have planned. I’m very happy with it. Thanks for making this!

I bought this product as I work for a shop and have to diagnose a decent volume of Mercedes Benz. This scanner has proved incredibly useful. Out of the box the scanner could work without any updates, but I decided to update the software just in case. The touch screen is incredibly accurate, I didn't have a single instance of having to double tap because the touch screen didn't pick up where I was trying to press. I was easily and quickly able to download the updates off the WIFI at the shop with no problems. When it comes to the actual diagnosis you can't really do much better for the price. I was able to fix quite a few check engine lights from cylinder misfires to even turning off a check in engine light due to the gas cap being to loose. This scanner works very well and is now one of my favorite tools to use at the shop. I really enjoyed all the graphs that can be displayed as well as the diagnostic information given from the scanner. The designers did a really great job with this scanner.

The first thing that caught my attention and appreciation was the design of this Scanner. It has a great handle to it when working on the car. The size is also great for a better view of the screen and navigating through the settings. The scanner is very fast when it comes to navigating through the settings, ECU coding, reading codes, updates, getting help from the internet related to searching for help on specific codes, and downloads for upgrades to the software! This tool has helped code unwanted malfunctions my Benz tells me about whenever I turn on the car such as Teleaid not being available for older Benzs that do not have that activated. I was able to program to tell the car how many gallons of fuel I have in the tank rather than just only seeing how many miles I have left till empty. Dont buy the other Benz scanners from other companies, except for this one.

Scanner wouldn't update on initial startup. Called launch and was told there is no support for models from China unless you email launch in China. I bought the effing scanner to diagnose a non running car, not waste my time emailing China to diagnose a problem with a scanner. Buy something else if you need a diag tool.

Original review: Over promises and under delivers. Seriously this MB scanner should be priced at $50. Just riding on Launch name. Edit: Since recent firmware updates and software for Mercedes (ML 500) this scanner tool is very useful. My passenger side door lock actuator is dead. When I 1st got the scanner I got just generic codes. It’s been updated and the information helped me determine that the module was getting power from the SAM but the door lock motor is toast and a lot more detail. Takes a bit to get used to it but works as advertised. Battery sucks, Wi-fi will drop at times, key board is clunky but when you click on error codes you actually get useful info for diagnosing what’s going on.

This device did something that I was told only a dealer, or a $1000+ dealer level product would do. I replaced the factory navigation / audio unit in our 2005 CLK500. All went well, with one exception...in the navigation equipped cars, there is no manual way to set the clock in the instrument cluster, as it gets a signal from the GPS, which is no longer there. Searching the net, I found 2 'solutions'...the first was to pull and replace the clock fuse at noon, which is the default time. This works, but it's not entirely convenient, and has to be done at least twice a year, just to keep up with daylight vs. standard time. The other solution was to have the navigation option 'coded out' of the cluster using the Mercedes SDS diagnostic system. This means a trip to the dealership, and whatever they charge (if the would even do it), finding an independent shop with SDS (same issues of cost or willingness), or buy an SDS system...which really means piece together a bunch of bits and pieces to build an SDS clone, as MB doesn't just sell it to anyone. Well, I now know of a 3rd solution, and that's this device. In less than 5 minutes, I was able to tell my car that it no longer had a navigation system, which brings up a 'set time and date' function in the normal vehicle settings menu. It will also allow you to properly code and initialize SAM's...another thing normally reserved for SDS shops or investment. And all this is on top of its very solid ability as a high end diagnostic tool, capable not only of reading and resetting codes, but also the ability to read datastreams, actuate individual components, and so much more. And at this price...wow! I paid almost this much for an Icarsoft unit that only does a fraction of what this unit does. And as if that wasn't enough, this unit is for Mercedes, but via the Launch online mall, you can purchase the ability to work on other manufacturers vehicles.
