This Calendar / Day Clock is one of the best purchases we have made for a loved one. The display is perfect size and easy to read so that the date and time is available to see every morning as well as throughout the day as a reminder. The dimming feature is really helpful, especially because it can be preset and a caregiver does not have to remember to dim so that someone can easily fall asleep. It has a slim, sleek design -- can be used in an office or a loved one's room -- and can be placed on a table/dresser top or easily hung on a wall. (Note: the stand was slightly slippery on the smooth surface we had to use so we put a strip of floral tape on the bottom and it stands fully upright and is as secure as it can be - no worries about falling over.) We bought this clock about 4 years ago for my mother when she said she was having trouble remembering what day of the week it was and the date, and that it made her feel lost and confused. She doesn't get a daily newspaper any more, so she was unable to orient herself as to date and day with that as she used to. I thought she might be embarrassed by this clock but she immediately loved it and said her friends all asked about it as well. The readout is prominent and clear enough to read from across a room, even for those with diminished eyesight. It is easy to set. It comes with a remote but I never used that, my mother has always been tech challenged so I just didn't bother with the remote. The first clock we purchased stopped working a couple of weeks ago and we were unable to fix it, so we went to Amazon to get a new one. I saw there were a few different versions and sizes and asked Mom if she wanted a larger one, but she insisted on the same model as she'd had before. When it arrived, we plugged her old clock in with the new cord and it worked fine. It seems it was just the cord that went bad so we'll see if we can get a replacement cord for the old one and then have a clock for her bedroom and one for her living room. Again, she counts on this clock every day and was quite upset when she thought it was broken and she thought she'd be without it.
