I replaced my Sony AW10 that was top of the line at the time of purchase. This Epson is about 2.5 brighter and a step up in resolution. The other deciding factor is its “throw” capability - it fits my media room screen from over 15 feet back. Most projectors I see in this price range are “short throw” I can have my window blinds open in the middle of the day and still have a great picture that is on a 105” screen with great clarity, contrast and motion. This would be a good selection for gaming as well - I use it for TV and movies. Downsides: Its about twice as loud ( fan) as my old projector but its ok because i have a big surround sound system. It always starts up on its home screen, Google and other apps. I dont ever use them because i connect through a Denon amp and use an Apple TV - so I have to switch over to HDMI output every time i start up. Overall, I'm very happy with it. Great value for the price. Update: I did a little research and cured the issue above with the home screen. You can remove the Google module that is attached under the removable cover plate. I plugged my HDMI cable to that connection and the projector starts with my home system...the Apple TV...instead of the Google app home screen. Presto! ... show more

I was on the fence with this projector. I wanted 4k and I wasn't sold on epsons 4k pro uhd technology. I thought it was a gimmick. I was wrong and hear is my journey to the perfect projector. I decided to buy the viewsonic true 4k projector. The video quality was excellent but the throw distance was not good for the size of my room limiting the size of the screen. I also did not like that their were no smart apps preinstalled. I returned the projector and purchased the 2350 refurbished. That was a mistake. Although the projector arrived prepacked with epson certified printed all over it and checked for functionality and quality. The refurbished projector came DOA. I returned that projector promptly. I decided to give the 2350 another change but this time purchased it brand new. The 2350 started up immediately and provided a high definition, indistinguishable from 4k video. The 4k pro uhd technology really works. It's a 1080p projector but they are really with no gimmick upscaling to 4k by doubling the pixels and it works. The true 1080p epson the 2350 replaced was not sharp at 100 inches and was very low resolution. This one is crisp and very impressive. I definitely got my money's worth. This 2350 is worth the money. There's a reason why ALL of their projectors have the same technology. Even the 2-3k versions. The technology works and it saves money because it's not real 4k. After 3 projectors in a week. The third one is a charm. It's works great and the piece of mind from buying new with a warranty was worth the extra 150 bucks. Note. I have a sound system so I can't review the native speakers and the noise level is decent at normal and very quiet when the projector is set to low light level. I have not tested the projector on high light level which will raise the fan speed and noise. Audio is junk. Internal speakers are weak and failed in less than a month. Has Bluetooth audio out, but we connected it to our Monster Bluetooth speaker which shakes the house when connected to our phones; barely audible when connected to this projector. Yes, both devices on full volume. Now I'm searching for a suitable 3.5mm wired speaker solution to hang from my ceiling. Brightness nit rating sounded promising, but is quite hard to see in the day time, even though it is inside an enclosed patio without direct sunlight. Really thought the android TV integration would pair to our Google nest speakers we have in the room. Nope. Didn't even show in the list of available devices when searching to add devices to our home. For a name brand like Epson, i expected better. Should have gone with the less expensive Chinese knockoff with higher nits and added a Nvidia shield On the plus side, it doesn't lag when using the android tv UI and downloadable apps, and adjusting the projected screen image is highly customizable in regards to mounting angle and angular distortion ... show more

The epson 2350 is their newer model. A bit pricey @ $1299. I installed this projector as a ceiling mount 12' from my screen (elite 1.1 gain screen). I also calibrated this projector (using i1 pro meter + HCFR calibrating software). The settings I used when calibrating (Color mode - Natural, Lamp mode - Standard). Once calibrated, you can expect lumens/brightness levels to decrease by about 25% from the published epson specs. It just work this way-out of the box, without calibration, these projectors are setup to be much brighter. Regardless, this projector after calibration was outstanding - I installed this projector as a ceiling mount 12' from the screen (used projector zoom to set and show a 110" diagonal picture). If you increase the zoom (to show a larger picture) brightness will naturally decrease. Here are the results (after calibration). Brightness Level - 33 foot lamberts (1450 lumens) - this is as good or better than the epson 3800. Color Accuracy - Using HCFR color checker. I measured a delta E of <2.5 (anything less than 3.0 is considered very good). Gamma - I calibrated to a 2.25 gamma. I used the custom gamma adjustment. Accurate & very good. HDR - this is the only minor weak, works and looks ok but not like high end projectors. Set to 5 or 6. 4K enhancement - does a good job upscalling your 1080p input. Quite a sharp image. Work well. As a side note, out of the box (without calibration) this projector looked pretty good - using and setting lamp to standard and color mode to natural. Bottom line - very bright and color accuate. I do not use for gaming. This projector is used for watching movies, sports or when setup to use my golf simulator. Hope this helps. ... show more

Overall it's a great projector with good brightness levels, good colors, and quiet fans that will work at a very large screen sizes. Installation into most setups will be a breeze with lens shifting and a wide range of zoom ratios. The bundled smart tv stick allows for a quick startup but is buggy enough that you can't rely on it to work and is best ditched for an external streaming stick like a chromecast/fire stick/roku etc. unless they commit to fixing the bugs. In using a Chromecast instead of the built in stick I've discovered that the projector is not capable of projecting 4k60 with HDR enabled. The built in TV stick probably has some trickery that enables it and that's why it's always enabled. The only way you can get HDR is by streaming at 4k30 fps or lower. 1080p with 4k Enhancement gets you "4k" resolution but the input signal is still 1080p. Seems incredibly deceptive to an otherwuse good piece of hardware. PROs: Good brightness - Easy to see in a lit room with normal lighting. Sun lit room may pose a problem. Low brightness is adequate for pretty much every viewing situation. Image clarity/sharpness - Even without a screen the image looks great on a gray wall and is sharp Colors - Bright and vivid with low to moderate ambient lighting. Some washout in brightly lit scenarios. HDR and colorspace options add some pop to colorful scenes. Install / adjustment - Lens zoom and Lens Shift capability make installation and customization a breeze. If you're using a platform mount the legs offer decent leveling capabilities. Manual focus is a bit soft and wish it had a more fine control but seems easy enough to get right. Sound levels at low and standard light output levels are quiet enough to not notice unless sound is muted and room is quiet. Smart TV features right out of the box- Android TV is great when it works correctly Cons "Smart" features - Bundled Android TV stick is buggy and really detracts from the experience. It's seamlessly integrated in to the projector but is frustrating enough to remove it to free up the HDMI port. -Freezes often and seemingly randomly. If USB power is left on then you must manually unplug it. -Bluetooth doesn't always automatically reconnect if disconnected (bluetooth only available through android tv stick) -Defaults to HDR10 output always Auto Iris feature can be a bit clicky and very audible if the scene /room is quiet Fan noise at high light output setting is loud enough to not want to use it unless listening to music or other content that will continuously drown it out. USB A power is 5v / 2a but not USB PD compliant so it won't power a chromecast 4k dongle Comes with 2 remotes (PJ remote /ATV remote) - One that controls the projector features + most android tv functions and one that controls android tv function only. - Both are bluetooth remotes with voice assistant capability - Projector remote controls everything EXCEPT bluetooth sound - volume buttons are for projector sound only - even if not enabled. -Android TV remote only powers on projector if HDMI CEC control is enabled and USB power is left on Doesn't seem to recognize content signal differences automatically - switching between SDR and HDR from Android TV or external streaming stick doesn't seem to work. ... show more

The image is really good. I compare it with the projector it replaced that had an Full HD quality. The difference is pretty big. Also, it does make as much noise, its quiet silence. I'm loving it so far. If you are wondering how it seems with light, you can see the image and I guess you can watch like that I prefer to watch in dart environment for a better quality ... show more
