  • Awesome projector
Style: Gaming Projector
Easy to setup and looks amazing using the Elite Screen drop down screen. Image is crisp and it is quiet, one issue I did find while streaming videos is that it likes to go into sleep mode, simply go into settings and turn it off, they have it at 20 mins for default.

  • For the price, this projector rocks! Updated
Style: Gaming Projector
I replaced my Sony AW10 that was top of the line at the time of purchase. This Epson is about 2.5 brighter and a step up in resolution. The other deciding factor is its “throw” capability - it fits my media room screen from over 15 feet back. Most projectors I see in this price range are “short throw” I can have my window blinds open in the middle of the day and still have a great picture that is on a 105” screen with great clarity, contrast and motion. This would be a good selection for gaming as well - I use it for TV and movies. Downsides: Its about twice as loud ( fan) as my old projector but its ok because i have a big surround sound system. It always starts up on its home screen, Google and other apps. I dont ever use them because i connect through a Denon amp and use an Apple TV - so I have to switch over to HDMI output every time i start up. Overall, I'm very happy with it. Great value for the price. Update: I did a little research and cured the issue above with the home screen. You can remove the Google module that is attached under the removable cover plate. I plugged my HDMI cable to that connection and the projector starts with my home system...the Apple TV...instead of the Google app home screen. Presto! ... show more

  • Good projector for the money
Style: Gaming Projector
There aren’t many good cheap projectors that will work with my room/screen geometry. This is one of the three or so current production models that fit my needs. This is bright enough to watch dimly lit movies in the daytime. Even on the lowest lamp setting it looks good with strong ambient light. The menu offers advanced calibration settings that used to only be available through service menus. A few YouTube test patterns will allow you to adjust this to look very good, just short of proper ISF calibration. There are enough settings to get yourself into trouble but each submenu allows resetting to default. There are multiple options for keystone correction plus vertical lense shift. The option that allows you to pull the image into the corners of the screen to correct the geometry is great. This may be good for gaming, but I don’t do that, and therefore, don’t know. It does offer a fast video processing option that is presumably for gaming. The built in streaming device occupies one of the two HDMI ports and the USB port. Thankfully the device is easily removed to free up both ports. It does come with a separate remote for this device so it can be used for another display or as the primary device attached to an AVR if you like. There is no trigger output which is annoying, but easy to work around. Once the USB port is free you can just chop up a USB cable and wire it to the 12v trigger for a screen. All projectors really should have a trigger output though. I’m sure most people are going to consolidate to a universal remote or application, making the included remote unnecessary, but most projector remotes are backlit for use in the dark. This one isn’t. My biggest gripe is that it doesn’t come with a manual. I paid $1k for this thing and I want a damned manual. I’m well aware I can view a digital copy on the website, but I shouldn’t have to. C’mon. The picture is bright and settings are detailed enough for the average Joe to squeeze the best out of it. For the money it is probably the best option for my room. If Projector Central says it fits your screen size and distance it may be a good option for you too. ... show more

  • Good all-around projector
Style: Gaming Projector
I needed a projector to pull out from time to time to play a video or video game on the wall when company is over (our dedicated TV is in a bedroom). In deciding between this and an equivalent Optima, I preferred the Optima for having potentially better picture quality, more inputs and output connections… but ultimately trusted Epson as a brand from a few other Epson products I have. So far I’m pretty happy. Pros: >Good bright picture >AndroidTV (so I can play shows directly from the projector without a separate device) >Quiet operation Cons: >remote not super intuitive (the square+arrow button is how to get to your hdmi input) >having to set up androidTV/google play and trying to get the google home app to work as a remote >picture is a bit red/orange and there’s no color settings you can mess with If I were doing a permanent installation in a theater room, I’d get something a bit more high quality in picture with better connectivity (like optical audio out… this only has a small 3.5mm stereo, i.e. headphone, output), but as something to store in a closet and pull out from time to time, it fits the bill and I have piece of mind knowing as an Epson it’s not about to just randomly break or blow up on me. ... show more
