Mounting bolts are for pipe top trailers which makes them too long and not threaded all the way to the top-replaced mine with 1-1/2 inch x 5/16 and it works great, Ramp is a one- handed lift now! Instructions were good but more and clearer pictures would be an asset. Materiel seems to be of good quality but could use a snap- on cover on the spring end of the tube to deter insects from nesting. For proper spring tension I recommend having someone help . ... show more

figuring out where to bolt cables on tailgate so they stay down till your ready for them to close, easy assembly. quality is good in my opinion,make closing gates so much easier,money well spent, they came as some kind of yellow/orange, I scuffed painted black for better appearance matching trailer color,fit was perfect. instructions were kind of blurry so used utube for better instructions says they weigh 40 lbs, ... show more

Update do not use if your gate is removable!!!! When you bring it down the tension is enough that the gate wants to try and come off. What a piss poor design. Not only did I have to buy new hardware. I now drilled 5 useless holes in my trailer!!!! Their kit doesn't provide good bolts for flat angle iron railings. The provided bolts only work for if you have square tubing. Was about to start on the project of installing these now have to go buy bolts from hardware store an hour away. Thanks alot. ... show more

I bought these because I like to do things right the first time. I'm not sure I needed them since the trailer won't be getting a whole lot of use and it's possible the OEM will last just fine. I felt more confident with these and for the price, it was worth the peace of mind.
