So the directions are garbage for this but anyone who is mechanically inclined can figure it out. You really only need one side for the gate. The hardware that came with it was junk so had to go get better quality bolts and nuts at the hardware store. Didn't take long to install.

Works great, install was easy, instructions weren't really clear on how to adjust it but after a few minutes of playing with the spring tension it became pretty simple to get setup, a lot better then the old system my trailer had before.

These look and function just like the more expensive ones, I bought these for my neighbor, and I helped install them, this make the fifth set of this type of tailgate lift assists that I have installed and these were just as easy as my first set, I would not have a trailer with a tailgate without a set of these they last a long time and when the cable or rollers wear out you can get replacement parts any are back in business. These are every bit as good as my Gorilla Lift. The only problem that we ran into was that the bolts that hold the square tubes to the trailer did not have enough threads we could have used one-inch bolts if we had them. The bolts that came with the set were made for a two-inch-thick top rail and not a quarter inch top rail.
