These grab bars are exactly what I needed to put on the wall, one on each side next to the two steps going into our Family Room/Kitchen area and in or out of the Bedroom area at the back of our house. I care for my wife who has Alzheimer’s and she fell twice on the first set of steps, breaking her left foot first and then fracturing her right ankle and knee. Now that I have installed these grab bars, these steps will cease to be her nemesis. The color fits well with the wall paint and they look like they have always been there as short handrails! I purchased these after the hospice nurse said that my mother needed to have Grabarz installed before she could have another shower. Not only are they durable and pleasant to look at but they are easily visible in the shower. My tiles are not smooth and the measurements did not work for them to go into the grout. So the electrician used a diamond drillbit and you would never know that these were not installed at the same time is the shower.

My mother is in her late 80's and has problems with mobility, but I happened to notice that her bathrooms were not equipped with items that would make it easier for her to move around. So, I took steps to correct the problem, by adding grab bars and a raised toilet seat. Although I am also a senior citizen, I have been fortunate not to experience mobility issues. But when I renovated my shower, I decided that it was prudent to install grab bars. I chose the anti-slip grip grab bars because I could imagine the potential for your hand sliding on a wet grab bar, if it was not anti-slip. I was concerned that the lower price for this product would result in it being poor quality, but this was not the case. If mounted properly, I found the grab bar to be very sturdy. The reason I say if mounted properly, is because I am not a fan of the plastic wall anchors that came with the grab bars, because I don't feel that they are strong enough to prevent the bars from pulling away from the wall if someone applies too much pressure when trying to pull up on the bar. If I am not successful in screwing into a stud, I choose to use toggle bolts that are designed to support heavy loads. Regarding the lower price of the product, I assume that one reason for the low price is because some assembly is required. But assembly only requires that you attach the grab bar to the mounting bracket, However, I offer this piece of advice. The mounting bracket has three holes for the screws to be inserted. When you attach the bracket to the grab bar, make sure you turn the bracket, so the holes are in a position that makes it easy to insert screws. If you are not paying attention to how you assemble the grab bar, one of the screw holes might be blocked by the grab bar and it will be difficult to use a screw driver.

Installed diagonally inside a shower. Solid as a rock and looked great. HOWEVER, after several showers noticed rusty dribble coming from lower mount point. I think the water is getting inside the hollow tube at the upper end, running down and dripping out the from the lower end. Result is a long rust stain down our tiles. I had used sealant installing the bar under both mounts but that wasn't enough to fully stop the drips. I then contacted the company they were very good offering me a refund or replacement. I went with the replacement and will reinstall the new one but use stainless steel screws and fully pack the mounts with sealant. If I don't make an update assume it all worked out.
