i ordered 2 of these - 1 for each end of my bathtub. They are attractive and sturdy. I had someone else install them and he had no problems. I can now get into and out of my bathtub with more confidence that I will not fall.

I ordered this 16" long grab bar mainly because I could get it next day, although the price seemed to be on par as others and it looked pretty much the same as those that would take a couple of days to get here. I got it this evening and went to put it together. The instructions say to put the outside ring over the bar for each end then use the big bolt to screw the end plate that screws to the wood stud. I went to tighten down the big bolt that connects to the bar and got it as tight as a bit past hand tight. When I applied just a little more force to make sure it was secure the bolt twisted like it was free and I had to tighten it again. I did this and got just past hand snugness when it broke past the bolt threads again. It did this on both bars. I do not feel that with the bolts just hand snug is a strong enough to support the kind of weight or force that this bar could experience with normal use. I'm certainly not going to trust it with my wife using it right after knee replacement, which is what I got it for. It's defective and I'm sending it back and getting a totally different type and brand, even if it costs more.

I feel more secure when climbing stairs The screws were too short. Had to get longer ones

I bought it as a gift for someone who would get it after the 30 day return policy because it was to be a limited amount of inventory. The gift was given and it is defective. It does not light when plugged in. Needless to say I am very disappointed that Amazon could not find a way to send another one that is in working order. I am embarrassed to have given a gift to someone I care about and it doesn’t work.
