I have only gotten this metal detector out to play around with it. I thought it would be fun to go to local parks and similar places with the grands and see what we can find. I quickly realized I need to do some homework before we set off for an adventure. I have never used a metal detector before so it is a little more complicated than I originally expected. It does seem to be user-friendly. I just want to learn more before using it “in the field.” Now that the weather is warming up I look forward to getting it out again soon and seeing what I can discover.

This is my 4th metal detector. My first unit was bought from Radio Shack about 30 years ago. The rest of them I got here on Amazon. I was already happy with my other metal detectors, but I ordered this unit because I liked the more detailed screen, bigger size, and deeper depth detection. This did require minor assembly. It was quick and easy, but I wasn't a fan of the cable screw position. After popping in a couple of 9v batteries, this was ready to go. The screen on this unit is better than my others. It is backlit and easy to see anytime of day. I also like that the screen displays the different types of metals and not just coins like the others. This has a big coil and covers a lot of ground. This also detects deeper items than my others. Although it has a big coil for wider coverage, it still has a pinpointing feature. The pin pointer is a very narrow field of detection. It will show tell you exactly where the metal is. This included a shovel and shovel carry case. It also included a big case that can store everything. I haven't brought this to the beach yet, but it worked great during my backyard tests. I am very happy with this metal detector. I will update this review when I get a chance to use it at the beach.

First off, I've never owned a metal detector before so I have no idea how this compares to other models. However, I followed the instructions (I never new these things were so complicated) and was able to "find" various coins , rings and other various metal objects I buried for a test. I did notice that testing it in the house was an issue because it picked up every metal object in the vicinity, including nails and screw in the walls and floor.

I got this to find buried items in the property behind my house. I threw coins down to test it out to see if it would pick up coins and it did. I went looking around this 10 acre property for about an hour and found an old penny, cans, old wires, foil, nuts, bolt, nails, and old trash. The plus is it came with a shovel and I used it to dig up what I found, and it breaks down to a small size to keep in your trunk or in a small space inside your house.

The media could not be loaded. Wasn’t expecting much with this metal detector, but man, it works great! It has adjustable sensitivity, so you’re not just picking up old bottle can lids. You can adjust the sensitivity specifically to find items like coins and metal. It’s not too heavy and comes with a handy arm strap, so you don’t get tired swinging it back and forth. It’s a decent value, but I have to admit, you’re going to have to find a lot of quarters to make it pay off!
